assembled tho brethren around him for that purpose . In the brief hour allotted for friendly converse and harmony formality was banished , and subjects of general interest to Freemasons were introduced and discussed . The chord of sympathy and benevolence which had been struck in the Lodge vibrated with pleasing effect in _ the midst of this genial intercourse , and a reference to what might

Martin in respect of tho Fund of Benevolence attached to his Lodge , Joppa 188 , aud tho good it had been able to effect ; which statement , in our belief , laid the foundation for the constitution of a similar fund in connection with " Prosperity . " Bro . Stevens P . M . 1426 , having been introduced by the W . M . as

Whether he succeeds or not in his attempt , he is certainly doing

good service by calling attention to the evil arising from want of a controlling authority in respect of Masonic working . His remarks were listened to with considerable attention and evident approval , the thanks of the brethren for his explanations being spontaneous aud hearty . Some delightful harmony mingled with tho remaining proceedings of tho evening , and members and visitors separated at an early hour mutually pleased with each other , and with tho unrestrained good fellowship of a "Prosperity" " off" night .
