THE Consecration of this Chapter took place at tho Agricultural Hall , Islington , on Friday , 10 th October , when Comp . Edward G . Sim P . M . 1602 was installed as M . E . Z ., Comp . John Cogan P . M . 13 ( 55 as H ., and Comp . David Moses as J . The ceremony was perfectly performed by E . Comp . James Terry Prov . G . D . C . Herts as Z ., E . Comp . W . Stephens as H ., ancl E . Comp . Edgar Bowyor P . P . G . D .
Herts as J ., assisted by Comps . Hobbs , Wagner , & c . Comp . Osborne J . W . 1602 was invested as Scribe E ., and Comp . John Weston S . W . 1602 as Scribe N . After the Chapter was closed , the Comps . adjourned to an excellent bauqnet in their dining hall , where they spent a most enjoyable evening . The musical arrangements were nnder the direction of Comp . Cozens , assisted by Comps . Hubbard and Ashton .
On Friday , the 24 th October , a meeting was held at tho Agricultural Hall , Islington . Present—Comps . E . G . Sim M . E . Z ., John Cogan H ., David Moses J ., Osborne S . E . Visitors—Comps . Hobbs , Cnsworth , Lee , and others . The minutes of the Consecration meeting were read and confirmed , after which Bro . W . Norris S . D . 1602 , R . G . Thomas Organist 1 G 02 , John Greenfield Treasurer 1602 , J . H .
Peach I . G . 1237 were exalted into R . A . Masonry . Bro . Norn ' s was duly elected and invested P . S ., and Bro . Greenfield appointed and invested ( this being a new Chapter ) as A . S . Chapter having been closed , the Companions adjourned to a banquet , supplied by Bro . Grist in his well-known excellent style . The usual toasts wore in due conrso given ; the Exalteos returned thanks for the compliment paid them . Comp . Greenfield , who is an initiate of 1602 , reminded the
M . E . Z . and others present that this was tho second time he had had the honour of responding under similar circumstances . He expressed a hope that harmony and good feeling would prevail in the Chapter , as it had in tho mother Lodge ; the principal Officers had already joined the Chapter , which from its position promises to become a very successful one . The Officers are well known , and aro all excellent workers , especially tho M . E . Z .

A Board of Installed Masters was formed , and Bro . Dr . Colles inducted into tho chair in duo form . Southwell was hold in great esteem by tlio members of llio Lodge , and the past year had been most pleasantly spent under his rule , he trusted ho might long coutinne to attend and assist in tho direction of tlio Lodge . Bro . Southwell said he could not express his thanks to the W . M . and
brethren as ho could wish , lie might , however , assure thorn flint lie deeply felt their kindness towards him , which lie was afraid ho scarcely merit . 'd . lie regretted that the time had arrived when ho had to relinquish what had been to him a most agreeable office , this feeling of regret was , however , considerably mitigated by the thought
that the Brother who was following him would so ably discharge the duties of his position . Letters of apology were read from the R . W . P . G . M . Sir Watkin W . Wynn Bart ., M . P ., and other brethren , and hearty good wishes having been tendered by tho various Visitors , Lodgo was closed , and the brethren adjourned to banquet . After the

admirable repast , provided by Bro . J . S . Vince , had been disposed of , tho usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured . Bro . Rowbotham , in responding to the toast of " The Visitors , " said that ho must congratulate Bro . Stokes ou his excellent performance of tho duties of Installing Master . Ho was an old member of tho Craft , and had witnessed many installations , but ho must say that ho had seou
fow brethren who conld equal Bro . Stokes in the office , certainly none who could surpass him . Other visiting brethren also responded , expressing their appreciation of tho reception given them by the members of 1621 . The evening ' s enjoyment was much enhanced by the singing of various brethren , notably the characteristic Irish songs of
Bro . C . Do Lessert , and tho musical selections of Bro . Sewell Organist , which were as usual highly appreciated . The time having arrived for the departure of thoso brethren leaving by train , the Tyler was summoned , and an extremely pleasant meeting thus brought to a close .

And further , at their said petition , aud of the great trust and confidence reposed in every of the said above-named brethren do hereby ap . point Philip Cole to bo Master , Benjamin Dorset Senior Warden , and Joseph Sutton Jnniov Warden , for opening tho said Lodge , and
for such further time only as shall be thought proper by the brethren thereof , it being our will that this our appointment of the above Officers shall in no wise affect any proper election of Officers of the Lodge , but that such elections shall be regulated agreeable to such bye-laws of the said Lodge as shall bo consistent with the General Laws of tho Society contained in the Book of Constitutions . Calendar for 1793 . Referring to tho concluding paragraph of my letter of the 23 rd October [ seepage 291 ] , it maybe added that of tho Lodges actually constituted in 1768 , which range between Nos . 113-135 on tho 1769 list , all but two aro carried forward in tho revised list published after the change of numbers in 1770 , thoso two Lodges being thus described in 1769 : —
• 121 . Sun Ledge of Perpetual Friendship . Bristol , Mar . 28 1768 428 . St . Christopher Jul y 1768 If , therefore , the No . 319 of 1770 is not No . 321 of 1769 . It can only be either No . 121 , or 428 of 1769 , which is plainly impossible . On the other hand , the No . 32-1- of 1769—the only Lodge meeting at Pons O'oll ' ec House , Leicester Fields , between 1765-69—is demonstrated
to have been in active existence on 30 th October 1767 [ "being entered MS represented in tho minutes of G . Lodgo ] not quite sic months prior to the date of the Warrant exhibited above . At this period , moreover , no Lodges were erased without a note of tho circumstance occurring in the Grand Lodge minutes . No such note is to be found in connection icith No , 324 between 1767-70 .
