THE annual meeting was hold at the Station Hotel , Holyhead , ou the . 28 th ult ., the R . W . P . G . M . Bro . Col . Piatt presiding , with the R . W . Brother Colonel the Hon . W . E . Sackville West P . G . W . of England . There was a full attendance of Brethren from the 18 Lodges in the
Province when the roll was called , all the Officers with the exception of four being present . Owing to the death of the Right Hon . the Earl of Carnarvon the Brethren present wore Masonic mourniug . At 2 ' 30 p . m . the Lodgo was
formally opeued , the Director of Ceremonies being Brother Freemo , of Baia . After the muster roll had been called , the minutes of the P . G . Lodge held at Barmouth last year were read and confirmed . Bro . Salmon was re-elected
Treasurer , and it was decided to present a P . P . G . S . jewel to Bro . Harris in recognition of his valuable services to the Fraternity as Secretary of the Provincial Grand Lodge
during the past year . On the motion of Bro . Salmon , ifc was decided to vote 50 guinoas in aid of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys . The R . W . P . G . M . subsequently invested his Officers , as follow : —

, the presidency of Bro . R . B . Seed D . P . G . M ., the Prov . Grand Lodge was opened in duo form . The distinguished Prov . Grand Mark Master of' the Province , Bro . the Rev .
Canon Tristram , D . D ., P . G . Chaplain of England presided , and was supported by Bro . R . B . Reed D . P . G . M . and the following Officers : —Bros . J . Straker Wilson S . W ,, Canon

Graud Officers was called , and Bro . C . B . Ford Secretary read tho report of the Committee of General Purposes , which stated
that the Order continued to manifost signs of activity and usefulness . Thirty-eight new members had been added during the year . The committee recommended that £ 10 10 s be devoted to tbe Mark Benevolent Fund , and £ 10 10 s to the Mark Education Fund . . Bro . R . B . Baed
D . P . G . M . stated that he had very much pleasure in moving the adoption of the report , which was seconded by Brother C . S . Lane S . W . and adopted unanimously . The roll of
Lodges was afterwards called , when eaoh Lodge duly responded , and reported favourably . The Rev . Canon Tristram P . G . M . M . said it was especially gratifying to welcome tho brethren nnder the shadow of the old central cathedral of
their Province , and under the banner of one of their junior Lodges , and it was satisfactory to see that each of their eleven Lodges was represented , and that , while they had had no increase of Lodges , there was a slight increase in their membership . There was no falling off anywhere .
He was especially gratified with the good report of the quality of the work done . From his most excellent Deputy , with whom ho was in full communication , he was glad to receive the warm eulogium he had expressed of the state of
their Mark Lodges . He expressed a hope that in time there might be a desire for the formation of a Mark Lodge at Bishop Auckland , Hexham , and Tynemouth . The following were afterwards appointed as the Prov . Grand Officers for the year : —

Au invitation to hold the next meeting at Stockton was accepted . The Prov . Graud Lodge having been closed in due form , the brethren adjourned to the Rose and Crown Hotel , whore they were entertained to a banquet , presided over by the Rev . Canon Tristram . Bro . C . S . Lane
proposed the health of the P . G . M . M . tho Rev . Canon Tristram , which was enthusiastically received . The Rev . Canon Tristram , in reply , gave a most eloquent address . He referred to tho origin of Freemasonry , and tho explanation of the universal adoption of almost all of the distinguishing
characteristics of Masonry , which wei-e spread world-wide many centuries ago by the Persians and Phoenicians , who carried these characteristics along with their commerce . This could be recognised by those who had had no political connexion , and still less no religious connexion . Upon tho
platform of Freemasonry , he continued , they knew no classes or masses—they were all one . They knew no difference between capital and labour ; there they were all workers , and quite ready to join each other when they had finished their
work and were moving from labour to refreshment . He proposed the health of Bro . R . B . Reed D . P . G . M ., who briefly responded . Several other toasts were given aud responded to , and tho successful meeting was brought to a close in tho usual Masonic manner .
