paying all expenses since the foundation of the Lodge , there was a balance of £ 8 12 s 9 d . Tho Treasurer , Bro . Weston , having resigned office , an election took place , and Bro . Payno was selected . The brethren wore Masonic mourning out of respect to the memorv of the late Bro . T . Ellen J . D . Bro . E . G . Sim S . AV . and AV . M . elect was then presented , and a Board of Installed Masters was formed . The

ceremony was ably performed by tho retiring W . M ., Bro . Somers . Bro . W . H . Leo P . M . very impressively gave tho concluding addresses . On the re-admission of the brethren , tho W . The pertinent remarks uttered by him wero fully appreciated . Bro . Furlong proposed a Toto of condolence , and that a letter be sent to the widow of tho late Bro . Ellon J . D . He was one of the founders . Every brother regretted his loss . He leaves a widow

and one child . Tho W . M ., in putting tho resolution to the Lodge , said the last tribute to the memory of their deceased Brother was shown at his funeral , where nearly every member of the Lodgo was present . It was proposed , seconded and carried unanimously , that ' honorary membership be conferred on Bro . W . H . Lee , AV . M . 975 and P . M . 1524 , in recognition of services rendered to the Lodge . The

W . M . aud tho S . W . spoke in flattering terms of tho manner in which Bro . Lee had given valuable instruction . Bro . Lee suitably returned thanks . Tho Lodge was then closed , and the brethren adjourned to the " Cock Tavern , " Highbury , where a very excellent banquet and dessert was provided by Bro . Baker . Grace having been sung , tho W . M . proposed tho Queen and tho Craft ; every Englishman reveres

The respects her for the manner in which sho has ruled the nation . and National Anthem was then snug . The toast of H . R . H . the M . W . G . Master was next given . Ho is not only revered as heir to the Throne , bnt also as head of our Order ; ho is beloved by every one in the nation . Gleo— "Haste ye Soft Gales" —was then sung . Tho W . M . then proposed the toast of tho M . W . the Pro G . M . tho

Earl of Carnarvon . Those who are permitted to attend Grand Lodge have an opportunity of seeing how that distinguished Brother fulfils his duties . Bro . A . Hubbard then very artistically sang " Jack's Yarn , " after which the W . M . gavo tho toast of tho R . AV . Lord Skelmersdale D . G . M ., and the rest of tho Grand Officers . AVe all know how his duties aro carried out by this noble Brother ; wo havo

present three Grand Officers , Bros . H . G . Buss Asst . G . Sec , E . P . Albert P . G . P ., aud Howe A . G . P ., wo aro prond to havo thoso brethren amongst us , and he hoped all would drink the toast with tho enthusiasm it merited . Bro . T . AV . Simons then sang " Just as AVcll . " Bro . Buss , in responding , said his office was a very novel one . In the Deputy Grand Master you havo ono who is always ready to

render assistance in any way for tho benefit of the Craft . I have a brother on my loft , Bro . Albert , who has discharged his dnty to their satisfaction . The other brother who has been selected for Grand Office is in every way worthy to receive tho honour . lie thanked tho AV . M . and tho brethren for their kind expressions and hospitality . Bro . E . Somers I . P . M . then rose , ho said it was the

first timo ho had tho pleasure to propose the toast of tho AV . M ., and he could say that they wero proud and pleased to seo him in the chair . Tho Loclgo is but young in the Order , bnt we hope to do our best ; he trusted the brethren would support the W . M . as thoy had supported him . After a part song— " The Hunt is Up" —the AV . M . thanked Bro . Somers for his kind expressions . He felt a great

obligation to the brethren for placing him in that proud position . The duties devolving on him ho would endeavour to carry out to their satisfaction . He then proposed the toast of the Visitors , to whom he accorded a hearty welcome . Bro . F . Meen played a solo on the pianoforte . Bros . Barnham , Todd , and Braine responded to tho toast . Tho W . M . then gave the health of tho Installing Master . He

had pleasure in proposing the toast , and great gratification in presenting him with a P . M . ' s jewel ; he was sure he would look on it with prido . The jewel is of solid gold , of artistic design ; it has the word Primus , with the arms of Sir Hugh Middelton , and the motto , " Virtus Palma . " Ifc also bears a suitable inscription . Bro . F . H . Cozens then sang tho " AVoodpecker . " Bro . E . Somers said he was

pleased to see that his endeavours to do his duty in tho Craft had met with their approbation , ho felt prond and honoured to receive the jewel placed on his breast , it was one of thoso things he would wear with pride and honour . He could never forgot the kindness of the brethren . Tho AV . M ., in proposing the toast , of tho Masonic Charities , spoke of the benefits thoso noble Institutions were doinjr .

AVe havo present to-night ono of our zealous Secretaries , and today was a peculiar incident , viz ., tho birthday of our esteemed friend , ho hoped they would enthusiastically drink his health . Bro . Hubbard then sang " Nancy Lee . " Bro . James Terry P . P . G . D . C . Herts , returned thanks ; he was sure their Lodgo would be a great supporter of the Charities . The I . P . M . had represented the Ar-ed ,

the AV . M . the Girls' School , and Bro . Abram had selected to bo a Steward for the Boys' School , and had already on his list £ 00 . He , Bro . Terry , had consecrated 19 Lodges , and in February last 16 brethren had contributed £ 900 . £ 13 , 300 was the result of tho last Festival . Tho Festival of tho Girls' School had been also successful , and he was sure the Steward to represent tho Bovs' School would

bring up a large amount . Ho was pleased to know that thev wore contributing to all the Charities , but he must urge them not to " forget the Aged in their declining years . ( Cheers . ) The AV . Stead AV . M ., Joseph Langton S . W ., F . C . Dobbing J . AV ., aud a numorons assemblage of tho brethreu . The Lodge was opened , and tho following brethren were unanimously elected joining members : —T . Lane .

Barnett , and being unanimously in their favour , these gentlemen wero duly initiated iuto the Order by the AV . M ., in a very perfect and impressive manner ; he was ably assisted by the officers . The Lodge was then closed , aud the brethren

pavtook of a recherche banquet , under tho efficient management of Bro . G . S . States . Tho W . M . proposed tho usual Loyal and Masonio toasts . In speaking to tho toast of tho Initiates , he said he was pleased to have tho hononr of initiating the son of his esteemed friend Bro . Langton , whom the Lodgo was named after ; he was sure , under such auspices , and tho attention they paid to tho

ceremony , thay wonld eventually prove themselves ornaments to the Craft , and pillars and supporters of onr antient aud honourable Order . Bro . Langton , in replying to tho toast , said he had felfc feelings of pride and gratitude in boiug allowed to be the first initiate of this Lodge . The ceremony , so impressively delivered , would make

a lasting impression on him , more especially in a Lodgo bearing the name of his honoured father . Bros . P . McKinlay and 0 . E . Barnett followed , with appropriate speeches . The toast of the AV . Metropolitan Chapter of Improvement . —The Regular AA eekly Convocation was held on Tuesday last , at tho Jamaica Codec House , Cornhill . Present—J . Constable M . E . Z ., A . A . Drew IL , J . C . Cox J ., Thos . AV . White Scribe E ., J . Dennis S . N ., S . Pownceby P . S ., J . Rumsey , E . J . Row , AV . J . Parish 538 , T . II . Meredith 77 , G . L . AValker , F . A . AVhite , Major E . H . Darcy , H . Bartlett , C . AV . Noehmer , John Seex , Thos . Griffiths , Ac . After the usual preliminaries had beeu gone through , tho exaltation of Comp . F . A . White , candidate , was ably and completely rehearsed by the presiding officers . Comps . AV . J . Parish and F . H . Meredith were unanimously elected joining members . Tho latter expressed his grateful acknowledgments for tho honour conferred , aud the treat

that had been afforded by the ability displayed throughout the ceremony . Ho assured tho Companions that whenever opportunity offered ho would be present . The sum of one guinea was voted from the funds of tho Chapter , to bo invested in shilling tickets in Bro . Constable ' s ballot for Life Governorships of the Boys' School . Tho Chapter was then closed for tho season , and adjourned until the first Tuesday in October .

The annual installation of the Master and Officers of tho Hamilton Lodge , No . 1440 , Prov . No . 6 , took place at Spanish Town on Thursday evening , the 3 rd May . Barnett , and being unanimously in their favour , these gentlemen wero duly initiated iuto the Order by the AV . M ., in a very perfect and impressive manner ; he was ably assisted by the officers . The Lodge was then closed , aud the brethren

pavtook of a recherche banquet , under tho efficient management of Bro . G . S . States . Tho W . M . proposed tho usual Loyal and Masonio toasts . In speaking to tho toast of tho Initiates , he said he was pleased to have tho hononr of initiating the son of his esteemed friend Bro . Langton , whom the Lodgo was named after ; he was sure , under such auspices , and tho attention they paid to tho

ceremony , thay wonld eventually prove themselves ornaments to the Craft , and pillars and supporters of onr antient aud honourable Order . Bro . Langton , in replying to tho toast , said he had felfc feelings of pride and gratitude in boiug allowed to be the first initiate of this Lodge . The ceremony , so impressively delivered , would make

a lasting impression on him , more especially in a Lodgo bearing the name of his honoured father . Bros . P . McKinlay and 0 . E . Barnett followed , with appropriate speeches . The toast of the AV . Tho latter expressed his grateful acknowledgments for tho honour conferred , aud the treat

that had been afforded by the ability displayed throughout the ceremony . Ho assured tho Companions that whenever opportunity offered ho would be present . The sum of one guinea was voted from the funds of tho Chapter , to bo invested in shilling tickets in Bro . Constable ' s ballot for Life Governorships of the Boys' School . Tho Chapter was then closed for tho season , and adjourned until the first Tuesday in October .

The annual installation of the Master and Officers of tho Hamilton Lodge , No . 1440 , Prov . No . 6 , took place at Spanish Town on Thursday evening , the 3 rd May .
