THE following is the business to be transacted at the Quarterly Communication of the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of England and "Wales and the Colonies and Dependencies of the British Crown , to be held in Mark Masons' Hall , Great Queen Street , Lincoln ' s Inn Fields , on Tuesday , the 5 th inst ., at five for six
o ' clock in the afternoon : — 1 . Read and , if approved , confirm Minutes of Quarterly Com munication of 6 th March 1894 .
2 . REPORT OF THE GENERAL BOARD . During the three months ending 31 st March 1894 , there have been issued : —Mark Certificates , 615 ; making a total number issued during the year of 1714 , the largest number ever issued during a similar period . Total number registered , 32 , 714 . Warrants
for new Lodges , 2 , viz .: — No . 473—Southport , Southport , Lancashire . No . 474—Ashlar , Duru Dum , Bengal . Royal Ark Mariner Certificates , 63 ; total number registered 4 , 184 . Warrant for a new Ark Mariner
Lodge—Studholme , to be attached to the Studholme Lodge , No . 197 . H . R . H . the Prince of Wales M . W . G . Master has been pleased to re-appoint , for a further term of three years , R . W . Bro . Thomas Frederick Halsey , M . P ., Provincial Grand Master for Hertfordshire .
The Board have to report with great regret the death of the R . W . Prov . G . Master for Cumberland and Westmoreland , the Rt . Hon . the Earl of Bective , who has ruled the Province for
twentyone years ; and of the R . W . Prov . G . Master for Monmouth , Capt . S . G . Homfray , who was appointed in 1865 . For the present these Provinces will continue to te ruled by the respective Deputy Prov . G . Masters , Brcs . Col . F . R . Sewell , and J . Owen Marsh .
It is with great regret the Board announce that R . W . Bro . Robert Berridge P . G . W . has tendered his resignation of tho office of Grand Director of Ceremonies , to which he was appointed in 1877 . In view of tho eminent services which R . W . Bro . Berridge has rendered to the Mark Degree , the Board recommend that Grand Lodge do accord him a hearty and cordial vote of thanks .
It having been reported to tho Board that serious irregularities had taken place in Lodge St . Aubyn , No . 64 , Devonport , the complaint was investigated . The W . Master , W . Bro . J . T .
Grand Mark Lodge.
Allingham , appeared and was heard in extenuation . The Board found that Bro . James Jolliffe was elected to the chair of W . Master on the 23 rd October 1893 , and on the same evening he was installed therein . The Minutes also disclosed many other irregularities .
The Board admonished and censured tho Lodge , and further inflicted upon it a fine of Five Guineas . They ruled that the irregular election and installation of Bro . J . Jolliffe be and was thereby cancelled , and that the Master of the Lodge must so remain until the next regular day of Election within
the Lodge , and until a successor had been regularly elected and installed in his stead , also that at the next regular Meeting of the Lodge the communication be read in open Lodge , and a copy thereof inserted in the Minutes , and that the Warrant be detained until the fine be paid .
The Lodge having made due submission and paid the fine , the Warrant has been restored to them .
The Board have great pleasure in announcing the completion of the " Portal Memorial Organ , " and in the name of the subscribers beg to formally present it to Grand . Lodge .
FUND OF BENEVOLENCE . The Board having carefully considered the matter , thought it was not advisable to continue to hold the several investments on behalf of the Benevolent , Educational , and Annuity Branches of the Fund of Benevolence in Securities pa- \ able to bearer . They
have therefore had the total amount transferred to 2 J per cent . Consolidated Stock , inscribed in the names of the Tiustees of Grand Lodge , M . W . Bro . the Lord Egeiton of Tatton , M . W . Bro . the Earl of Euston , and R . W . Bro . Frank Richardson .
The Board would remind Masters of Lodges that the recommendations to all Prtitions must be signed in open Lodge by the Master , Wardens , and Ov < rsetrs , aid a majority of tht-M < mbers present ( see Article ISO , Book of Constitutions ) . Neglect of this Regulation has in some instance s caused delay in the consideration of the Petition .
The Twenty-Sixth Anniversary Festival in aid of the Fund of Benevolence will be held at Freemasons' Tavern , on 11 th July , and R . W . Bro . the Earl of Yaiborough Provincial Grand Master for Lincolnshire has most kindly consented to preside . Ihe Grand Secretary will be happy to receive the names of Brethren willing to act as Stewards .
The Board have elected on the Educational Fund , without a poll : — George Cooper ( East Anglia ) . Kirke Hoarder ( South Wales ) . And on the Annuity Fund : —
