rpilE brethren of tho Metropolitan Lodgo No . 1507 , and of tho J- Royal Savoy Lodgo No . 174 i . held a joint Summer Festival on the 24 th " nit ., at the Bye Honse , Hoddesden , under tho presidency of the respective W . M . ' s , Bros . J . Douglass 1507 , and J . Willing jun . 1741 . A numerous company assembled at tho London station , and on reaching Hoddesden enjoyed a short ramble in the grounds of tho
famous hostelry there . At four o ' clock they proceeded to the ban . qnot-hal ! , Avhero a most enjoyable ropast was provided , and AA-hich Avas heartily enjoyed by thoso present . At tho conclusion thereof a feAV toasts Avere proposed by Bro . Willing , AA * ho fulfilled his task in a manner deserving of praise . Ho confined his remarks to a feAV words complimentary to those AVIIOSO health ho called on tho party
to drink . Bro . Willing , in hearty terms , proposed success to tho Metropolitan Lodge , coupling Avith tho toast tho health of its W . M ., Bro . Douglass , and that brother , after a brief reply , paid a liko compliment to tho Royal Savoy Lodge and its Master . With tho toast of tho Past Masters and Secretary of the two Lodges was coupled tho namo of Bro . Stiles , Avho occupies the latter position in each . Tho health of the ladies was proposed from tho chair , and
acknowledged by Bros . Everett and Stiles , Avhilo various of the Officers acknowledged tho remarks Bro . Willing mado in their praise . Tho company spent the remainder of tho evening iu dancing and other enjoyments , returning to town at an early hour . Tho thanks of those present are duo to tho brethren who undertook tho various arrangements in connection Avith this holiday . Tho proceedings throughout wero all that could be desired .

rpilE inaugural ceremonies of this Lodgo took place on Friday -L the 25 th ult ., at the Queen ' s Hotel , Victoria Park-road , South Hackney . Tho ceremonies of Consecration nnd Installation of Officers were most ellicientlv and admirably carried out by Bro . James Terry P . P . J . G . W . Herts , assisted by ' iiro . C . Grey Hill P . M . 13 GG ns Director of Ceremonies . The programme of the proceedings Avas fully carried out , wilh solemn and appropriate effect . Tlie
remarkable ability displayed by brother Terry during the proceedings Avas attended with the most gratifying results , and the highest appreciation AVIIS accorded them hy all the brethren present . Tho following AA-ere duly invested as tho principal Officers : — Bro . Benjamin Carter W . M ., George Edwards S . W ., William Snellgrovo J . W . Tho appointment of the minor Officers , with the reception
of propositions for initiation aud joining members , concluded this portion of the proceedings . Preparatory to tho partaking of refreshments the various hrethren engaged themselves by perambulating the beautiful Avalks laid out iu Victoria Park , the Avrnther being iu every sense most auspicious for the occasion . The banniief , Avhich followed , Avas somewhat , delayed through a sad accident occnrriii" to a ,
child ot one of the brethren living in the locality , who was suffocated from a cherry accidentally slipping into its throat , Avhich could not bo extracted bolero death took place . This sad incident caused a considerable delay in the holding of tho banquet , from the absence of several prominent brethren AYHO had adjourned to tho house of sorrow and mourning , to condole with tho bereaved parents . He said that ho had acted as a substitute in the capacity of Consecrating Officer for the Grand Master 118 times , in opening HCAV Lodges , and at tho present time ho stood second only in that respect to their
Grand Secretary . He had Avon his spurs ns a young Mason , beina the first W . M . of the Burdett Coutts Lodge . Tie- ceremony in opening this noAV Lodge that day had been superlatively good . From the fact of there being so many valued brothers of his OAVII Lodge present , ho conld not help trying to do his best .
