Scott Z . presiding , when he was again nominated for that office for the ensuing year , bnt he declined , recommending , as a younger and more energetic Comp ., his 2 nd Principle , John De Neif , who was unanimously elected . ns H . and G . Mackay as J . Comp . J . 0 . Park P . Z . was then elected as the Deputy Principal , and promised to do all in his power to assist their new Z ., who was a pupil of his own . Duthie Z . of 67 , and Campbell Z . of 69 .
Confidence Lodge of Instruction , No . 193 . —In pnrsu anco of previous notice , the members of this Lodge mot at Masons' Hall Tavern , on Wednesday , the 30 th ult ., at 7 p . m . The Lodge having been opened , and tho usual preliminary business disposed of , Bro . Turquand as W . M ., proceeded with the ceremony of installation , inducting P . M . Bro . James Stevens , and we need hardly
remark that the W . M . performed the ardnons duty completely and to the intense satisfaction and delight of tho numerous assemblage . Bro . Stevens then invested the following brethren : Bros . Walker S . W ., Loewenstark J . W ., Sayer S . D ., Gronor J . D ., Hill I . G ., Pitt Secretary , Constable Treasurer , which being clone , ho gave a full and complete explanation of the 1 st degree tracing board , combin .
ing the greater portion of the sections of the same , and the reasons and demonstrations for and of tho various symbols drew forth the hearty encomiums of all present . A vote of thank 3 was proposed , and ordered to be inserted in the minutes , to Bros . Turquand and Stevens , for their aid in conducting the business of the evening . This was duly acknowledged by both , with tho assurance that their services at all times were at the command of the Lodsre . The follow .

At tho conclusion of tbe 3 rd ceremony tho Preceptor passed a few remarks on the working , saying he had been in several Lodges in his time , but he was pleased to say ho never had heard the ceremony worked better , and congratulated tha Lodge on having such a number of good working members . Thia must be very pleasing to their Preceptor , P . M . Wallington , under
whose able tuition these brothers are brought forward . We would recommend young brethren so attend this weekly Lodge j here they will got that instruction so much required by youug Masons . Bro . Brown , S W . of Lodcre 1227 , was unanimously elected W . M . for next Tuesday , 5 th September , and appointed his officers in rotation . Lewis Lodge of Instruction , No . 1185 . —This new and rapidly increasing Lodge of Instruction has been enabled ( in spite of removals , and members visiting the sea-side ) to hold on its way , and add to its numbers . Ou each night of meeting there has been a good attendance of brethren . On tho 2 nd ult . Bro . Turner ( Worshipful Master elect of the mother Lodge ) presided , and on the 9 th
nit . Bro . Thomas Goodfellow , of tbe Domatic , 177 , occupied the chair . In each case it was proposed , seconded , and carried unanimously , that a vote of thanks be presented to tho Worshipful Master for the very efficient manner in which he had presided , and that the same be recorded on the minutes . Bro . J . W . Berrie occupied the chair on tho 16 th ult ., and worked tho 2 nd degree , Bro . Samuel Johnson
acting as candidate . Tbe last named brother has mado great pro flciency , under the able preceptorship of Bro . Thomas Vesper P . M ., whose energy and zeal in pushing young men forward is worthy of the highest praise . Bro . Thomas Goodfellow having presented the Lewis Lodge of Inst . rnction with a very handsome box of working
tools ( which wero his own workmanship ) , it was proposed by Bro . J . W . Berrie , seconded by . Bro . Samuel Johnson , and carried unanimously , that a vote of thanks be presented to him , and recorded on the minutes , for the handsome present he had made the Lodge ; it was also remarked that Bro . Thomas Goodfellow was calculated
to make a very useful working member of the Craft . Bros . Sayer and Bone ( promising officers of tho mother Lodge ) were unanimously elected joining members of the Lodge of Instruction , and it was mutually regretted that they lived so far away , it preventing their constant attendance . On the 23 rd nit . there was a very small gathering , there being only six present , but Bro . John Walker , of tho
Egyptian Lodge , No . 27 , and Bro . H . B . Dunn , of the Sincerity , 174 , and Finsbury Park , 1288 , paying this Lodge a casual visit , Bro . J . Walker was unanimously requested to tako the chair , which he did , and in a most efficient manner performed the duties which devolved upon him , to the entire satisfaction of the brethren present . Thi 3 was testified by a vote of thanks , which was recorded on the
minutes of the Lodgo . A notice was given by Bro . George Newman that on the next assembling he should move that the night of meeting of this Lodge of Instruction be changed from Wednesday to Thursday , so that it should not clash with that of the Finsbury Park Lodge of Instruction . Moreover , by this change , the brethren of the north of London wonld bo enabled to support this Lodge of Instruction , which is the most northernly now held .

M . elect was presented to the Lodge , and installed into the chair by Bro . F . Walters P . G . J . D . Middlesex . On the re-admission of the brethren the VV . M .
