Hentsch opened the Lodge , rassisted by Bros . A . Withers S . W ., Chamberlain J . W ., King P . M . t Preceptor , W . E . Young S . D ., Radcliffe Treas ., W . VV . Morgan jun . as Sec . Lodge was advanced , and Bro . Withers took tho chair . Bro . Morgan waa entrnated , and afterwards raised . Tho Lodge being closed to the first degree , Bro . J . S . Cumberland VV . M . 1611 was
proposed , and unanimously admitted a member of the Lodge of Instruc tion , which was then closed . Next Thursday the conduct of the work will devolve on the Officers of the mother Lod < re , who aro anxious that this Lodge of Instruction shall become a popular one , and will make an effort to induce a strong attendance on that occasion . form . Bro . Whaley offered himself as candidate , and the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed . Tho first , second , and third sections of the Lecture were worked by Bro . Hallam . Bro . Gruggen was elected W . M . for fche ensuing week , and a vote of thanks ordered to be recorded on the minutes to Bro . Low for his able working ou this the first occasion in this Lodge of Instruction . The Lodgo was then closed in perfect harmony .

Thia was seconded by Bro . C . Lorkin , aud unanimously carried . Bro . Fieldwick proposed , Bro . J . Lorkin seconded , and it waa carried unanimously , that the thanks of the meeting bo recorded to the officers of the evening . Bro . P . M . Turquand answered on their behalf
and expressed his willingness to at all times contribute to the prosperity of the Lodge . Bro . Grist proposed , and Bro . Butler seconded tho proposition , that the thanks of the meeting bo recorded to the brethren who had assisted the W . M . in working the sections , which was also carried unanimously . Bros . Webb W . M . of Loyalty Lodge No . 1607 , F . Carr I . G . 1607 , and S . Gillings 1607 , were duly elected members . The Lodge was then closed in due form with prayer , and adjourned to Monday 5 th May , at 8 o ' clock .
A Norwich paper is responsible for the following : —Consternation prevailed among the brethren of Perseverance on Tuesday 15 th inst . at the loss of their warrant—ifc is not the first time this document has gone astray—aud ifc was nofc till the wires had been pulled and many
messages despatched that the missing warrant was found in safe keeping across the British Channel ; but no Lodge could be opened , and tho brethren had—poor fellows !—to discuss Host Coleman ' s banquet without working , and make merry afterwards over the social board .
Misa Florence Smart a benefit concert , given on Wednesday week at "The Athenaeum , " Camden-road , was a great success . This well-known and rising pianiste waa assisted by several artistes of acknowledged repute , and Miss Smart ' s playing on the pianoforte ,
especially in Rubenstein ' s a . "Nocturne" ( Henselt ) b . "Valse Caprice , " elicited tho most unmistakable expressions of approbation from even the severest musical critics . Altogether , tho evening was a rich classical treat , and will go far to strengthen the reputation which Miss Smart has already established in her profession .
