Nicholson , reported the result of the application for the loan of tho mother Lodge furniture for the use of the Lodge of Instruction , which was willingly granted , the only stipulation being security for damage .

The consequence of this was the pedestals of tho mother Lodge were used on the present occasion , and will continue to be so used until further notice . A vote of thanks to tho W . M . of the mother Lodge , for the loan of tho furniture , was , on tho proposition of Bro . Tucker , seconded by Bro . Sugg P . M ., carried unanimously . This closed tho business of tbe evening .

Industry Lodge , No . 187 . —The monthly meeting of this Lodge was held at Freemasons' Hall , Great Queen Street , on Tuesday tho 22 nd ult . Amongst those present being Bros . W . Woodfield Philp W . M ., H . J . Johnson S . W ., J . J . Taffs J . W ., R . Allison I . P . M ., W . Mann P . M . Treasurer , John Seex P . M . Secretary , J . G . Horsey S . D ., G . W . Hook J . D ., W . S . Page I . G ., 0 . W . Noehmer P . M . D . C ,

W . H . Hook P . M ., D . J . Robinson P . M ., and a largo attendance of lay members and Visitors . The Lodge was opened by the W . M . at 6 . 30 p . m ., and after the confirmation of tho minutes of the previous meeting , Bro . G . F . Webster was passed to the second degree , and Mr . M . Cornook was regularly initiated iuto the secrets and mysteries of Ancient Freemasonry . The brethren then proceeded to the

election of Worshipful Master , the ballot being unanimously in favour of Bro . H . J . Johnson S . W . The W . M . having congratulated the W . M . elect upon the choice of tbe brethren , Bro . Johnson in a tew well chosen sentences expressed his appreciation of tho honour which tbe Lodge had conferred upon him . Bro . W . Mann P . M . was again unanimously elected Treasurer , and Bro . Woodstock Tyler . Other

business of a minor character having been transacted , Lodge was closed in due form , and the brethren adjourned to the Crown Room of the Freemasons' Tavern , where an excellent banquet was served . Tho cloth having been cleared , the usual toasts were drank and responded to , a capital programme of music having been provided under the direction of Bro . Seymour Smith . Miss Mota Russell , a

very promising yonng soprano , sang " Wicket Gate , " in good style ; but in the Duets of No , Sir , and Fioravanti ' s " Singing Lesson , " she proved herself an actress as well as n singer . Miss Kate Earle , who has a contralto voice of much richness , sang " Some Day , " in highly finished manner , but we think that her second song— " A Bird in

Hand —was not a happy choice . Bro . C . A . White sang " Hail to thee , Albert" ( with chorus ) , " Marian May , " and the " Anchor ' s weighed , " in a masterly manner , whilst Bro . Seymour Smith was as funny as ever in his musical extravaganzas . The proceedings v ere brought to a close with a new and very pretty part song by Brother Seymour Smith , entitled , "And now we'll say Good Night . "

read , confirmed and signed . The W . M . then rehearsed the ceremony of Installation , Bro . Tucker representing tho W . M . elect . Bro , Tucker invested his Officers , and Brother Andrews delivered the usual charges to the Master and Wardens . Bro . Tucker then rehearsed the ceremony of the second degree , Brother Sugg candidate . Bro . F . Botley was elected W . M . for 2 nd December .

Samuel Darley was balloted for and duly initiated into the mysteries of the Order by the W . M ., with impressive effect . After the nsual business had been concluded , a vote of thanks waa unanimousl y passed to

Bro . G . F . Dix for the able manner in which he had carried out the duties of the Office during the year , and that a Past Master ' s jewel bo presented to him . Lodge was then closed , and tho brethren dined , after which the W . M . proposed the usual Loyal and Masonic Toasts , which were honoured in customary form . Bro . P . M . Taylor proposed " The health of the W . M . Bro . G . F . Dix . " He said he had tho greatest

pleasure in proposing it , for most likely it would bo the last time he shonld do so . The last time he proposed it was on tho occasion of Bro . Dix's installation , when he wished him God speed . He now offered Bro . Dix his hearty congratulations for tho excellent way in which he had conducted the affairs of the Lodge during his term of office . It bad afforded him much pleasure to sit by his sidodurinn '

the past year , and he hoped thoso brethren who followed in his steps wonld make as good a Master as he ( Bro . Dix ) had done . Tho toast was drunk with full Masonic houours . Tho W . M . after expressing his thanks for the hearty manner iu which tho mention of his name had been received , said it would bo the last time he should thank them as W . M . of the Lodge , lie most heartily thanked the Past

Masters and the members of the Lodge for the services they had rendered during his year of office . When he entered upon his dnties he said he would do what he could for tho advancement of the Lod <» e , and he had fulfilled that promise to the best of his ability . From what had passed from P . M . Taylor , he was led to infer his efforts had been appreciated . He assured the brethren that he had always taken

the greatest interest in the Lodge , and would continue to do so as long as he sat on the left of the W . M . He again thanked them for the cordial manner with which they had received the toast of his health . The W . M . then proposed the " Health of the Past Masters of the Lodge , " coupled with the names of Bros . H . M . Taylor , Lacey , Cundick , and T . Taylor . Bro . H . M . Taylor responded . The W . M .

next proposed the " Health of the initiate , Bro . Darley , " observing that it gave him mneh pleasure in welcoming so well-known an Eas ' t End tradesman amongst them . Thero were always a nnmber of gentlemen seeking entrance into the Lodge , but the Lodge did not want quantity , but quality . He had no doubt but that Bro . Darley would prove a welcome addition to Freemasonry . Bro . Darley

brieflyresponded in suitable terms . The other toasts were "The Visitors " " Tho Masonic Institutions , " "The Treasurer and Secretary , " "The Officers of the Lodge , " nnd " The Tyler ' s" toast . In response to that of the Visitors , Bro . Wayland remarked that he seldom had seen better working . Tho evening being short , but little harmony was indulged in , and the brethren separated at an early hour .

Lod ge was closed in the third degree , and the ceremony of passing rehearsed Bro . Porter candidate . Lodge was closed in the second degree ' when it was proposed by Bro . P . M . Andrews , and seconded by Bro ! Cunningham , that Bro . Seward be elected W . M . for the next meet ' , ing . This being one of the few occasions that Bro . Preceptor Tucker is seen in the chair , it was proposed by Bro . Delavante that a special vote of thanks be accorded to Bro . Tucker for the excellent and

perfeet manner he had worked the three degrees , and that this pro . position be recorded on the minntes of the Lod ge . This was se . conded by Bro . P . M . Andrews in an able speech , aud carried by the brethren with enthusiasm . Bro . Tucker having made a suitable reply , the Lodge was closed .

Lodge was then closed , and tho brethren dined , after which the W . M . proposed the usual Loyal and Masonic Toasts , which were honoured in customary form . Bro . P . M . Taylor proposed " The health of the W . M . Bro . G . F . Dix . " He said he had tho greatest

pleasure in proposing it , for most likely it would bo the last time he shonld do so . The last time he proposed it was on tho occasion of Bro . Dix's installation , when he wished him God speed . He now offered Bro . Dix his hearty congratulations for tho excellent way in which he had conducted the affairs of the Lodge during his term of office . It bad afforded him much pleasure to sit by his sidodurinn '

the past year , and he hoped thoso brethren who followed in his steps wonld make as good a Master as he ( Bro . Dix ) had done . Tho toast was drunk with full Masonic houours . Tho W . M . after expressing his thanks for the hearty manner iu which tho mention of his name had been received , said it would bo the last time he should thank them as W . M . of the Lodge , lie most heartily thanked the Past

Masters and the members of the Lodge for the services they had rendered during his year of office . When he entered upon his dnties he said he would do what he could for tho advancement of the Lod <» e , and he had fulfilled that promise to the best of his ability . From what had passed from P . M . Taylor , he was led to infer his efforts had been appreciated . He assured the brethren that he had always taken

the greatest interest in the Lodge , and would continue to do so as long as he sat on the left of the W . M . He again thanked them for the cordial manner with which they had received the toast of his health . The W . M . then proposed the " Health of the Past Masters of the Lodge , " coupled with the names of Bros . H . M . Taylor , Lacey , Cundick , and T . Taylor . Bro . H . M . Taylor responded . The W . M .

next proposed the " Health of the initiate , Bro . Darley , " observing that it gave him mneh pleasure in welcoming so well-known an Eas ' t End tradesman amongst them . Thero were always a nnmber of gentlemen seeking entrance into the Lodge , but the Lodge did not want quantity , but quality . He had no doubt but that Bro . Darley would prove a welcome addition to Freemasonry . Bro . Darley

brieflyresponded in suitable terms . The other toasts were "The Visitors " " Tho Masonic Institutions , " "The Treasurer and Secretary , " "The Officers of the Lodge , " nnd " The Tyler ' s" toast . In response to that of the Visitors , Bro . Wayland remarked that he seldom had seen better working . Tho evening being short , but little harmony was indulged in , and the brethren separated at an early hour .

Preceptor Tucker is seen in the chair , it was proposed by Bro . Delavante that a special vote of thanks be accorded to Bro . Tucker for the excellent and

perfeet manner he had worked the three degrees , and that this pro . position be recorded on the minntes of the Lod ge . This was se . conded by Bro . P . M .
