tho Lodgo . Tho ballot waa then taken for the election of AV . M . for tho next year , and resulted nnanimously in favour of Bro . Arthur Hinea S . W . For this striking mark of appreciation Bro . Hines briefly returned thanka . The election of Treasurer followed , and resulted in the selection for the sixth timo of Bro . R . E . Johnson P . M . Bro . Jas . Sly was also re-elooted Ty ler . Bro . Johnson appropriately
thanked the brethren for the renewal of their confidence in him . The W . M . then received tha hearty good wishes of the visitors , and by hia kind invitation all the brethren adjourned to supper , where all enjoyed tho good things provided . On the removal of the cloth , the W . M . proposed tho customary Loyal and Masonic toasts , which wero duly honoured . After Bro . Walker had kindly obliged with a
song , the AV . M . rose to propose the health of tho newly raised brother . He congratulated him on hia attaining tho rank of Master Mason , trusted he would learn more , and recommended him to go forward and become a useful Officer in hia Lodge . AVhen the older members fell into the sere and yellow leaf , it was pleasing to see the younger ones , who had received the benefit of light from their hands , come
forward and carry on the good work . It was always cheering to brethren who had worked hard in their Lodge to witness this in thoir declining years . The toasfc waa drunk with Maaonic hononra . Bro . Hulme , which proved unanimous , and that gentleman waa initiated into the mysteries of Anoienfc
Freemasonry . Bro . J . D . gave the charge very ably . The Lodge waa then advanced to the second degree , and Bro . J . Arensberg passed Bro . Wm . Hall to take his seat among Fellow Crafts . Bro . Norton again ascended the oast , and conferred the second degreo on Bro . H . 0 . Clifford Smith The working of all the Officera of this Lodge ia admirable , and the De Grey and Ripon ia one of thoae
vigorous Lodges which it does a brother ' s heart good to visit . Thero ia nothing musty or languid belonging to 1161 . The large number of viaitora present afc its meetinga , and the pleasure they all evince afc attending indicates thafc the brethren of Manchester do appreciate a healthy Lodge . If some Lodgea cease to be instructive and energetic—which really moans entertaining—then brethren will
go where they can be edified and gratified . This ia also applicable in Royal Arch Masonry—Freeraaaonry lives , and ia a reality . This ia an ago of action , of great competition . see so many brethren who were known for the deep interest they tako in the Craft , and without exception they rejoiced to aoo all . They wero greatly indebted to the Masonic Press , and the labours of the brethren employed in that

Greenwood , whose arrival was warmly greeted , next presided at tho piano , and gave ono of his humorous selections , which kept the
company in roars of laughter . Bros . Rocca , AVaddell , Parker , Brown , Lister , Smith , Darvven , Jones , and Davies replied to tho toast of the visitors , by this it waa evident that many brothers wished to bestow the meed of praise which waa certainly well deserved , aa ogards the administration and working of tho Lodge , as well as for tho genuine reception extended to all the visitors .
