Strong Man Lodge of Instruction . —This Lodge held their regular weekly meeting at the Crown Tavern , Clerkenwell Green , at 7 p . m . on Monday last . Bro . Beckett , Preceptor , presiding . The fifteen sections were admirably worked by Bros . Pearcy , Killick , Defriez , Gross , Sadler , Tolmie , Beckett , and Saul . Bros . Killick

P . M . / SI , Steadmau P . M . 75-1 , and Gross 1278 , were elected joining members . A vote of thanks was unanimously accorded the brethren and members of other Lodges who had assisted in working the sections , and also to the W . M . for the able manner in which ho had presided .

Sadanski , Harrison and J . W . Robertson were passed to the F . O . degree , in an able manner , by Bro . A . Harkuess P . M . Bros . Jackson , Hewitt , Grieves

and Mendelssohn where raised to tho sublime degree of M . M . by Bro . John Edw . Hobson I . P . M . Tho AV . M ., then closed the Lodge down to tho first degree . Five candidates were proposed for initation , and two brethren as subscribing members . Tho W . M ., on behalf of the subscribers , members of the Lodge , then presented Bro . John Edw . Hobson the I . P . M . with a P . M . ' s jewel of exquisite workmanship , as a

mark of their appreciation of his services , not only when Master of tho Ledge , but in various other offices , and concluded an able speech by wishing tho I . P . M . long life to wear the jewel , health , wealth nnd prospciiiy ; also , that tho time may be far distant when his ( the I . P . M . ) connection with Lodge IS should cease . Bro . Pobson acknowledged the presentation in very feeling terms , and said he would over

be grateful to the brethren , and wear the beautiful jewel with becoming pride . He did not attach so much elation to it on account of its intrinsic value as the good feeling he found manifested towards himself , and the desire of the brethren to regard any little services which ho may have rendered the Ledge , and it shonld bo an incen - tive to him to conliiiuc working for old " 48 " to the best of his

abilities . It is said , " that brevity is the soul of wit , " with him that evening ho was brief , not owing to wit , but because no language could find words to express his appicciation of their kindness . The jewel bears the following inscription at back : — " Presented b y the brethren to Bro . John Edw . Hobson P . M ., as a mark of esteem , May 1875 , " also in front , " Industry Lodge 48 . " The Lodge was closed at 10

Strong Man Lodge of Instruction . —This Lodge held their regular weekly meeting at the Crown Tavern , Clerkenwell Green , at 7 p . m . on Monday last . Bro . Beckett , Preceptor , presiding . The fifteen sections were admirably worked by Bros . Pearcy , Killick , Defriez , Gross , Sadler , Tolmie , Beckett , and Saul . Bros . Killick

P . M . / SI , Steadmau P . M . 75-1 , and Gross 1278 , were elected joining members . A vote of thanks was unanimously accorded the brethren and members of other Lodges who had assisted in working the sections , and also to the W . M . for the able manner in which ho had presided .

Emergency hold 19 th May , having been read and confirmed , and ballots taken , Mr . Edward Liddell was admitted , and duly initiated into the mysteries and privileges of ancient Freemasonry , by Bro . John Edw . Kobsoti I . P . M ., in , i most impressive manner . Bros . Sadanski , Harrison and J . W . Robertson were passed to the F . O . degree , in an able manner , by Bro . A . Harkuess P . M . Bros . Jackson , Hewitt , Grieves

and Mendelssohn where raised to tho sublime degree of M . M . by Bro . John Edw . Hobson I . P . M . Tho AV . M ., then closed the Lodge down to tho first degree . Five candidates were proposed for initation , and two brethren as subscribing members . Tho W . M ., on behalf of the subscribers , members of the Lodge , then presented Bro . John Edw . Hobson the I . P . M . with a P . M . ' s jewel of exquisite workmanship , as a

mark of their appreciation of his services , not only when Master of tho Ledge , but in various other offices , and concluded an able speech by wishing tho I . P . M . long life to wear the jewel , health , wealth nnd prospciiiy ; also , that tho time may be far distant when his ( the I . P . M . ) connection with Lodge IS should cease . Bro . Pobson acknowledged the presentation in very feeling terms , and said he would over

be grateful to the brethren , and wear the beautiful jewel with becoming pride . He did not attach so much elation to it on account of its intrinsic value as the good feeling he found manifested towards himself , and the desire of the brethren to regard any little services which ho may have rendered the Ledge , and it shonld bo an incen - tive to him to conliiiuc working for old " 48 " to the best of his

abilities . It is said , " that brevity is the soul of wit , " with him that evening ho was brief , not owing to wit , but because no language could find words to express his appicciation of their kindness . The jewel bears the following inscription at back : — " Presented b y the brethren to Bro . John Edw . Hobson P . M ., as a mark of esteem , May 1875 , " also in front , " Industry Lodge 48 .
