o ' clock , when tho brethren adjonrned to the banqneting-hall , where they partook of refreshment , and passed the remainder of the eveninr in social harmony , the glees and part songs being performed by the choir in a masterly stvle . The usual toasts were given , " The Queen , " " Prince of Wales ' , " " Rest , of Eoyal Family , " " Tho newly Initiated , " "Visitors . " The I . P . M . proposed tho health of

the W . M ., who , in reply , thanked tho brethren for the kind manner in which it had been proposed and received , and hoped he would hand over to his successor the affairs of the Lodge in the same satisfactory state as it had been by previous Masters . He had a very important duty to perform yet , which was to propose the health of his officers , and in doing so it was a matter

of great pleasure to state that all the officers wero present except one ( and that was their worthy Secretary , through illness ) . He would couple with it the name of Bro . Dr . R . F . Cook P . M . M . of C . The M . C ., in returning thanks , thought that the fact of all the officers being present to fill their respective positions should bo very gratifying to the W . M ., as indeed every Master who had passed

through that chair know what a great assistance it was while giving the degrees to have every officer at his post , and able to do his dnty . Ho was glad to find the W . M . so well supported at the Installation of tho Prince of Wales , that magnificent ceremonial , which took place in the Albert Hall on 28 th April . A scene which no one who had been present would over forget . It was also gratifying to find the

Province of Durham enjoying so good a position , especially " 48 . " which was close to the throne , and he trusted the officers would show themselves worthy of tbe name of " 48 " by their industry . Ho had now to refer to tho name of ono who had worked willingly and well in tbe cause of Freemasonry and the interests of this Lodge , Bro . John Ed . Robson their I . P . M . and Treasurer . his breast that evening tho presentation jewel , while they were doing him an honour , they were also performing a duty , and he had now great pleasure in proposing the toast of the I . P . M . Bro . J . E . Eobson said he now found himself in one of tho most unpleasant situations in which a man could possibly get , viz .: —that of replying to a toast on tho occasion of a

presentation , because in proposing that toast it was customary , in fact he might say it was the rule , to speak of all tho good qualities and say nothing about the bad . Onr good Bro . Dr . Cook had done so on this occasion . What little he ( the I . P . M . ) had done was without doubt appreciated by tbe brethren , but he had done no mm'e than was his duty , and in keeping with the first obligation and charge in

Masonry . The jewel with which he had been presented ho should always look upon with pleasure and as an heirloom . The W . Hope and Charity Lodge , No . 377 , Kidderminster . — At the regular meeting , held on 31 st May , Bros . J . E . Stone , Thos . Blagborough and Jas . Dugard were raised , to tho sublime degree , tho ceremony being very impressively performed by tho W . M . Bro . B . Woodward . On the Lodge being closed down to the first degree , the W . Mr . Wm . Harvey ( a Lewis ) . After the ceremony Bro . Fitzgerald thanked tho W . M . for having afforded him tho gratification of initiating Mr . Harvey , as he had initiated , passed , and raised tho candidate ' s father in this Lodge some years ago . Nothing further offering for the good of Masonry in general or this Lodge in particular , the same was closed in clue form , and with prayer .
