ROYAL MASONIC BENEVOLENT INSTITUTION .
WE are pleased to be in the position to announce that Bro . Sir A . F . Godson , M . P ., Provincial Grand Master of
Worcestershire has consented to preside at next year ' s Festival on behalf of the Benevolent Institution . Bro . Godson has long been an enthusiastic supporter of the Masonic Charities , and being highly esteemed in the county over which he
presides Masonically will no doubt be well supported on the occasion of his Chairmanship , which we hope will prove one of the most successful in the annals of our Old People ' s Charity , which will then complete its sixtieth year ' s existence .

THE SCHOOL ELECTIONS .
THE Quarterly Court of the Royal Masonic Institution
for Girls is to be held on Thursday next , when sixteen children will be admitted into the Institution , and matters of general business will be dealt with . The Quarterly Court of the Boys School will be held the following day , also at Freemasons' Tavern , Great Queen
The School Elections.
Street , London , and there twenty children will be elected to the benefits of the Institution . A statement -will be given as to the progress made in the erection of the new Schools at Bushey , and any ordinary business brought before the Court may be considered .
In the case of the Girls School there are twenty-five approved candidates to compete for the sixteen vacancies , and in that of the Beys School forty-six randidates to share among them the twenty vacancies .

PROPOSED HALL AT MALDON .
rUR the past two years the members ot the ot . reter Lodge , No . 1024 , have held their meetings in the County Court-house , by permission of H . M . Board of Works ,, and under dispensation from the Earl of Warwick Provincial
Grand Master , their former meeting-place , the tower of St . Peter ' s Church , having been declared unsafe by expert authority . In the meantime the executive of the Lodge have
been on the look-out for suitable premises for Masonic purposes ; and on their recommendation the Lodge has just taken on lease the premises known as 104 High Street , which is to be at once adapted to the requirements of the Lodge .
There will be on the first floor a handsome Lodge Room , 42 ft by 17 ft 4 m , and 13 ft high , with convenient rooms adjoining , and on the ground floor a similar-sized room , though not so lofty , which will make an excellent
diningroom . The matter was definitely decided at the monthly meeting of the Lodge last week , and the Brethren will enter into occupation as soon as the needful alterations are complete .
The present W . M . of the Lodge Bro . Thomas P . Pechey has been elected to serve a second year as Master ; whilst Bro . PI . J . Sansom has been re-elected Treasurer for the twenty-sixth year . ¦
a ***************** Bro . Sir Joseph Dimsdale P . G . Treas . has been elected Lord Mayor of the city of London . The two sheriffs—Alderman Bell and Horace Brooks Marshall- —are also prominent members of the Craft , the latter being at the present time Grand Treasurer of England .
********** The Logic Club will commence operations for the season to-morrow ( Sunday ) morning , at its usual quarters , the Cavendish Rooms , Mortimer Street , W ., when the second
.. degree , with the lecture on the Tracing Board , will be rehearsed by the members of the Committee , under the preceptorship of Bro . Robert Manuel . The proceedings will commence at 11 o ' clock .
********** Welshmen resident in London have now a Lodge of their own , and the Consecration ceremony , performed on Monday by the Grand Secretary , assisted by other Officers
of Grand Lodge , was highly successful . Sir John H . Puleston was installed as the first Master , the Lodge being named the London Welsh , No . 2867 . At the banquet which followed the ceremonies a capital selection of national music was given .

A SPECIAL meeting of this Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons was held at the Phoenix Lodge
Rooms , Portsmouth , on the 20 th ult , when Bro . Vice-Admiral W . H . C . St . Clair was installed as Deputy Prov . G . M . M ., to which Office he was designated by the late Prov . G . M . M . Bro . W . W . B . Beach , M . P . 1 he ceremony was performed by the Grand Secretary Bro . C . Fitzgerald Matier P . G . W .
A vote of condolence was passed to Mrs . Beach and the family of the late revered Prov . G . M . M . It was unanimously resolved to recommend Bro . Loveland Loveland , formerly D . P . G . M . M . for the Office of Provincial Grand Mark Master , and he having been appointed to that dignity by the Grand Master will be installed at Portsmouth on Saturday , 26 th inst .
