proposed and heartily responded to . The I . P . M . proposed the health of the W . M ., congratulating him on tho very excellent manner he had worked fche ceremony , ancl tho pleasure the Lodge . felt in having afc the head of affairs a brother so well qualified to govern and rule . The W . M . thanked the brethren for the hearty way they had responded to the toast . Daring his year of office he would
endeavour to discharge his duties to their satisfaction . He had come two hundred miles to be present afc fche Lodge meeting . Their cordial reception was very gratifying to him , ancl he would always , either afc labour or refreshment , try to promote tho beat interests of the Lodge and its members . In proposing the Officers , the W . M . complimented each one on his excellence of working . He had no doubt when they
wero called on to assist in the other degrees , they would clo so to the satisfaction of tho members . The W . M . next proposed tho Masonio Charities , adding that Bro . E . Dietrich was Steward for the Boys ' School . He would call on Bros . Shackleton and Dietrich to respond . Bro . Shackleton explained the objects of the Institutions , especially the Boys' School , reminding the brethren tho Lodgo had senfc
Stewards to the Benevolent and Girls' Institutions , Bro . P . M . Leo having served one and he ( Bro . Shackleton ) the other . The W . M . had also served tho Boys' School , and was a Life Governor . He concluded by urging the brethren to support Bro . Dietrich in his endeavour to take up as large an amount as possible . Bro . Dietrich hoped to have three figures on his list ; but if he could nofc reach three , he hoped they would help him to come very near it . He was very

It had been arranged that the Fifteen Sections should bo worked , and accordingly Bro . Collings 511 took the chair , and was supported by Bro . Pulsford 1153 as S . W ., whilo the Junior Warden ' s chair was filled by Bro . Ratclittb J . W . 211 . The Lodge was opened up to the third , and resumed , when the first
lecture was worked by Bros . Fane , Carter , Josey , Oliver , Alais , Davy , and Pulsford ; the second lecture by Bros . Smith , Wise , Leaper , Davis , ancl Collings ; and tho third lecture by Bro . Ratcliffe , Holloway , and Colegrave . On the conclusion , tho customary vote of thanks Avas passed to the W . M . for presiding , and was duly acknowledged by Bro . Collings , Avho referred to the great assistance rendered by

raised to the degree of M . M . Bro . Brand proposed Bro . Smyth as Treasurer , seconded by Bro . Shackleton , and on tho ballot being taken Bro . Smyth was unanimously elected to the office . There being no further business , Lodge was closed and adjourned . Refreshment followed labour . The Queen and fche Craft , H . R . H . fche Prince of Wales , fche Pro and Deputy Grand Masters , were ably
proposed and heartily responded to . The I . P . M . proposed the health of the W . M ., congratulating him on tho very excellent manner he had worked fche ceremony , ancl tho pleasure the Lodge . felt in having afc the head of affairs a brother so well qualified to govern and rule . The W . M . thanked the brethren for the hearty way they had responded to the toast . Daring his year of office he would
endeavour to discharge his duties to their satisfaction . He had come two hundred miles to be present afc fche Lodge meeting . Their cordial reception was very gratifying to him , ancl he would always , either afc labour or refreshment , try to promote tho beat interests of the Lodge and its members . In proposing the Officers , the W . M . complimented each one on his excellence of working . He had no doubt when they
wero called on to assist in the other degrees , they would clo so to the satisfaction of tho members . The W . M . next proposed tho Masonio Charities , adding that Bro . E . Dietrich was Steward for the Boys ' School . He would call on Bros . Shackleton and Dietrich to respond . Bro . Shackleton explained the objects of the Institutions , especially the Boys' School , reminding the brethren tho Lodgo had senfc
Stewards to the Benevolent and Girls' Institutions , Bro . P . M . Leo having served one and he ( Bro . Shackleton ) the other . The W . M . had also served tho Boys' School , and was a Life Governor . He concluded by urging the brethren to support Bro . Dietrich in his endeavour to take up as large an amount as possible . Bro . Dietrich hoped to have three figures on his list ; but if he could nofc reach three , he hoped they would help him to come very near it . He was very
g lad Bro . Shackleton had been called on to reply ; he would submit his list at once . The result was thafc though there was only a small attendance of members , tbo sum of £ 35 Avas promised . The W . M . regretted he was unablo to propose anything from the Lodgo funds , but as they wonld have another meeting before the Festival , he hoped the Lodgo would be able to add £ 10 10 s . Royal Arthur Lodge of Instruction , No . 1380 . —Afc the Prince ' s Head , York-road , Battersea , on Tuesday last , there was a very large attendance . It had been arranged that the Fifteen Sections should bo worked , and accordingly Bro . Collings 511 took the chair , and was supported by Bro . Pulsford 1153 as S . W ., whilo the Junior Warden ' s chair was filled by Bro . Ratclittb J . W . 211 . The Lodge was opened up to the third , and resumed , when the first
lecture was worked by Bros . Fane , Carter , Josey , Oliver , Alais , Davy , and Pulsford ; the second lecture by Bros . Smith , Wise , Leaper , Davis , ancl Collings ; and tho third lecture by Bro . Ratcliffe , Holloway , and Colegrave . On the conclusion , tho customary vote of thanks Avas passed to the W . M . for presiding , and was duly acknowledged by Bro . Collings , Avho referred to the great assistance rendered by
the brethren who had so ably filled the Wardens' chairs . The following brethren wero elected members : —Bros . Alais , Lawrence , Webb , Boulton , Holland , Lane , Bird , and W . W . Morgan , and after those who bad worked the sections had been thanked for the service rendered , the members dispersed , after having spent a mosfc agreeable evening .
Upton Lodge of Instruction , No . 1227 . —At Bros . Bolton and Lane ' s , tho Kb'g and Queen , Norton Folgnte , on Friday , the 29 th March . Present—Bros . Smith W . M ., Cleverly S . W ., Lane " J . W ., Fenner Preceptor , Townsend Secretary , Hine J . D ., Bolton I . G . ; also Bro . Geruschein visitor . Lodge opened , minutes were read and confirmed . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed by tho W . M . in a
manlier that reflected great credit on him , Bro . Gernschein acting as candidate . Lodge was advanced to the sccoud dogreo . Bro . Gernschein answered the usual questions leading to tho third degree . On the resumption of the Lodge to the first degree , Bro . Fenner worked the second and fourth sections of the lecture . Bro . Cleverly waa elected . W . M , for the ensuing week .
