E . presented a draft copy of bye laws for tho government of tho Chapter , which , after due consideration , Avere adopted , and ordered to bo sent to the Prov . G . banquet Avas fixed for 4 th July , at tho Hotel , Grange-over-Sands , and a Committee was appointed to make tho necessary arrangements . After tho consideration of some routine business , tho Chapter was closed , Avith the nsual solemnities , and the Companions separated in perfect harmony , to meet again on the last Thursday in June , Avhen the report of the Banquet Committee will bo made .

progress of the Lodge , and the support afforded by its several Past Masters , all of Avhom , except Bro . J . W . Smith , now in India , ancl with whom he had frequent correspondence , never failed to be present on these occasions . Having bad the honour to instal all previous W . M . 's in this Lodge , he looked forward to fulfil the like duty on future occasions . Propositions having been taken , tho Lodge

was closed , and the brethren adjourned to a liberal banquet provided in the Avell-known satisfactory style associated with Bro . Hiscock ' s management of tho " Royal . " The usual toasts wore admirably proposed by the W . M ., and each received able response . Tho entire proceedings wero greatly appreciated by all present , and universal regret at parting was expressed when tho hour for separation arrived .

Indtistry Lodge of Instruction , No . 186 . —Tins old Lodge of Instruction , which has ceased to meet for many years , has been resuscitated , and will in future assemble every Monday evening , between 1 st September and the 31 st May , at half-past six o'clock

Old Globe Lodge , No . 200 . — Tho members held their monthly meeting on Wednesday night , in their Lodgo room , Old Globe Hotel . After the transaction of ordinary business a very pleasing ceremony took place , viz ., tho presentation of a testimonial to Bro ! G . H . Walshaw P . M ., P . P . G . D . C , subscribed for and given by the members of tho Lodgo on the occasion of that gentleman ' s marriage . Tho testimonial consisted of a very handsome bronzo

aud marble timepiece , with a pair of vasos to match , and was presented on behalf of the subscribers by the W . M ., Bro . A . W . Tomlinson . After a few appropriate remarks from Bro . J . Woodall P . M . P . P . G . J . W ., the Senior Past Master present , Bro . Walshaw feelingly acknowledged the compliment , of which he may Avell feel proud , evincing as it does tho high estimation in which ho is held by hia Masonio brethren , and the fraternal goodwill thoy bear towards him .

Salopian Chapter , . No . 262 . —The regular convocation was held at tho Lion Hotel , Shrewsbury , on Monday , the 1 st insfc . In the unavoidable absence of M . E . Z . Comp . R . Chapter , but , unfortunately , there Avas no Prov . Grand Chapter ; he thought , and tho idea appeared feasible to a M . E . Companion present , that we onghfc and could succeed in procuring this desirable resnlt . After some remarks from Comps . Boucher and Wakoman , it wns proposed by Comp . Warren , and seconded by Comp . Wakeman , that there be an Enquiry Committee formed to ascertain the opinions

of Companions of Sister Chapters on the subject , and that Comps . Wight , Spaull , Redman , and the M . E . Z . ( pro tem ) compose thafc Committee , Avith power to add to their number . The proposition was unanimonsly approved . Comp . Wakeman then gave tho health of the Principals , Avhen he expressed tho thanks of the Companions

present for the kindness shown by Comp . Andrew in coming to preside at so short a notice , and at great inconvenience ; to Comp . Boucher for his energy and zeal in coming from London expressly to be at his post that evening , and to Comp . Tho first ceremony and four of the sections Avero rehearsed . Bro . Biddle ' s working of the ceremony was distinguished by a quiefc fluency Avhich promises to develop—as soon as greater confidence is acquired —into a gentle eloquence , usually so strikingly impressive upon tho candidate . Bro . Constable Avas re-elected Hon . Treas ., ancl Bro . J . K . Pitt Hon . Sec . for the ensuing year . Bro . Staley was elected W . M . for next Wednesday .

Percy Lodge of Instruction , No . 198 . —Hold its regular weekly meeting on Saturday , the 30 th March , at tho Jolly Farmers , Southgate-road , Islington , N . Present—Bros . Garrod W . M ., Hallam S . W ., Hallam jnn . J ^ W ., Killick Sec , Halford Treas ., Brunei S . D ., Stock J . D ., H . Hall I . G ., Pearcy Preceptor . Visitors—Bros . J . Millington 861 , C . Hall 1693 . The Lodge was opened in regular order

and the minutes confirmed . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed Bro . Slaiter candidate . Several sections of the first lecture wer worked . Bros . Millington ancl Hall woro elected members . A wo deserved vote of thanks Avas unanimously accorded to tho W . M ., it being his first appearance in tho chair . Bro . Hallam -will preside next week .

Old Globe Lodge , No . 200 . — Tho members held their monthly meeting on Wednesday night , in their Lodgo room , Old Globe Hotel . After the transaction of ordinary business a very pleasing ceremony took place , viz ., tho presentation of a testimonial to Bro ! G . H . Walshaw P . M ., P . P . G . D . C , subscribed for and given by the members of tho Lodgo on the occasion of that gentleman ' s marriage . Tho testimonial consisted of a very handsome bronzo

aud marble timepiece , with a pair of vasos to match , and was presented on behalf of the subscribers by the W . M ., Bro . A . W . Tomlinson . After a few appropriate remarks from Bro . J . Woodall P . M . P . P . G . J . W ., the Senior Past Master present , Bro . Walshaw feelingly acknowledged the compliment , of which he may Avell feel proud , evincing as it does tho high estimation in which ho is held by hia Masonio brethren , and the fraternal goodwill thoy bear towards him .

Salopian Chapter , . No . 262 . —The regular convocation was held at tho Lion Hotel , Shrewsbury , on Monday , the 1 st insfc . In the unavoidable absence of M . E . Z . Comp . R . Cressvvell Peele , Comp . E . Andrew P . Z . acted as first Principal , assisted by Comps . J . B . Boucher H ., E . M . Wakeman J ., II . Charles Clarke E ., W . L . 0 . Crump Treas ., H . O . After tho usual routine business had been disposed of , it was resolved to take advantage of tho occasion to convert the Chapter into ono of Instruction , and Comp . P . H . Evans volunteered as a candidate for exaltation . Comps . J . B . Boucher H . and E . M . Wakeman J . acquitted themselves very Avell , and Comp . J . L . Warren gave tho

charges , & c . iu his usual eloquent and impressive style . Bro . J . O . Smith , surgeon , Avas then balloted for , and unanimously elected . Tho Chapter Avas then closed , and the Companions adjourned to banquet . The M . E . Z . ( pro tem ) gave tho customary loyal and R . A . toasts , which were duly honoured . Comp . J . L . Warren referred to the pleasure ho should feel iu proposing tho next toast , —the Prov . Grand

Chapter , but , unfortunately , there Avas no Prov . Grand Chapter ; he thought , and tho idea appeared feasible to a M . E . Companion present , that we onghfc and could succeed in procuring this desirable resnlt . After some remarks from Comps . Boucher and Wakoman , it wns proposed by Comp . Warren , and seconded by Comp . Wakeman , that there be an Enquiry Committee formed to ascertain the opinions

of Companions of Sister Chapters on the subject , and that Comps . Wight , Spaull , Redman , and the M . E . Z . ( pro tem ) compose thafc Committee , Avith power to add to their number . The proposition was unanimonsly approved . Comp . Wakeman then gave tho health of the Principals , Avhen he expressed tho thanks of the Companions

present for the kindness shown by Comp . Andrew in coming to preside at so short a notice , and at great inconvenience ; to Comp . Boucher for his energy and zeal in coming from London expressly to be at his post that evening , and to Comp . Warren for the able manner in which ho did tho difficult part entrusted to him , Tho toast was
