cnrronce of all the brethren present in tho remarks made by Bro . Hook . The W . M . thon rose and returned thanks in a very ablo speech for tho kind manner in which tho brethren had received tho toast of his health . As to Bro . Hook , he thought he could not better return the compliment for the pretty things he had said of him than by at once placing npon his breast tho very handsome jewel which had

been voted by the brethren for the able manner in which Bro . Hook had carried out the duties of second XV . Master of the Sackvillo Lodgo , nnd as a token of appreciation of the many benefits tho Lodge had received at his hands , particulars of which wore recorded on tho back of the jewel . Bro . Hook acknowledged the gift iu a short

but tolling speech , and sat down amid tho hearty plaudits of all assembled . The remainder of tlio toasts having boon disposed of , tho brethren dispersed , at about half-past ten , after a most pleasant evening . Several of tho London brethren drove over at- an earlier hour to Three Bridges , and returned ( o London by tho last train , the rema-inder staying at the Crown Hotel for the night .

In a former report of Bro . Sfaley ' s working , wo

felt it our duty to animadvert rather severely on his shortcomings . We are glad to perceive that onr strictures havo produced a salutary effect , as the work showed a decided and unmistakable improvement . It is yet , faulty in many respects , especially in want of deliberation in delivery . The habit of rnsh ' ng through a ceremony at railway speed cannot be too strongly condemned ; detracting as it does from what might otherwise bo considered fairly good work .

Bro . Staley has evidently determined to become an efficient craftsman , and it ia from a desire to encourage him in his laudable endeavonrs , and from a conviction that he prefers fair criticism to fictitious praise that these remarks arc made . Threo of the sections were worked , several of the brethren evincing ability in giving tho responses . Bro . Biddlo was elected W . M . for next Wednesday .

Bro . Gregory doing his utmost to make tho brethren happy and comfortable . The usual Masonic toasts were ably given from tho chair , whilst occasional songs from Bros . Clpgg and Robinson contributed to the pleasure of the evening . Those brethren who have tho success of this Lodge of Instruction at heart aro much encouraged at tho increased interest taken by the members ia ha progress and prosperity .

Tredegar Lodge of Instruction , No . 1625 . —Met , as usual , on Monday , the 21 th inst ., at the Royal , Mile-end-rnad , corner of Bnrdett-read . There were present Bros " Hogg W . M ., Cole S . distinguished by deliberateness and fluency , and although several points require amendment , still , upon tho whole , his mode of working is in tolerable accordance with the standard adopted in most of tho East . end , and numerous Lodges in other districts . The two Wardens , both very yon tig Masons , proved by their work tho close

attention they must have paid to its achievement . A very excellent feature in this Lodge of Instruction is the regular attendance of the W . M . of the Mother Lodge , and tho S .
