u u o An important survey of " Modern Freemasonry " is just issued , says the " Star , " from the pen of M . Ernest Gilon , one of the first Belgian economists of the day .

Less than halt a century old , he has by dint of application acquired for himself two reputations , one as a sort of Belgian Henry Morley , and one as a student of artiean problems . He has founded a so-called Gilori

LiLiary , comprising a couple of hundred sixpenny classics , and has written a handful of books about his native Verviers . His works , too , are sufficiently versatile ; they range from petroleum to teeth , from a life-study of Channing to an exhibition catalogue . Six years ago he

wrote a treatise on " The btruggle tor existence , which won for him the Guinard quinquennial prize of £ 400 , while as official reporter for the economic section of the last Paris Exhibition he prepared a tome on workmen ' s societies which is part of the stock-in-trade of the Continental leader writer .

o o o The session of the East Surrey of Concord Lodge of Instruction , No . 463 , commenced on Tuesday , the 4 th inst ., at the Greyhound Hotel , Croydon , where meetings will be held every Tuesday , at 8 p . m . Bro . W . Fox Hawes is the Secretary .
