W ., Coleman J . W ., Mortlock P . M ., Brame Secretary , Horsley S . D ., Monks I . G ., Baldwin and several others . Lodge was opened in due

form and tho ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Moak being tho candidate . Bro . Brame , as candidate for passing , answered tho usual qnestions and withdrew ; tho Lodge was opened in tho second degree , aud tho ceremony of passing was rehearsed by the W . M ., Bro . Baldwin candidate . Bro . Cox was elected W . M . for the ensuing week .

Wolsey Lodge , 1656 , Hampton Wick . —The usual monthly meeting of this Lodgo was held on Monday last , tho 4 th inst ., at tho White Hart Hotel , Bro . Wm . Hammond in the chair . Bro . J . Hammond I . P . M ., J . W . Baldwin acting S . W ., Bond J . W ., Eev . F . J . C . Do Crespigny Chaplain , Hurst J . D ., Ockenden Secretary , Walls I . G ., Marvin D . C , Scott W . S ., and a larse muster of the members .

The Lodge was opened shortly after 5 . 30 , and the minutes of the regular meeting in December , and emergency meeting in January , road and confirmed . A notice of motion made by Bro . Sharp S . W . at tho December meeting , to extend the limit of the number of members in tho Lodge , was next considered , and tho proposition carried . Bros . Aylen and Darlingjwere raised to the sublime degree ,

Bro . Humphries and Bnrchill passed , and Messrs . Chandler , Abbett , Jobbius , Turner and White initiated into the mysteries of Freemasonry . The next business Avas tho election of a W . M . and Treasurer for tho year ensuing . Bro . Sharp , unavoidably absent in consequence of very severe illness , was elected to the chair . A letter explaining the reason of his absence was read in open Lodge

and on the proposition of the Eev . Chaplain ( Bro . De Crespigny ) it was resolved that a communication be forwarded to tho W . M . elect , condoling with him in his present affliction . Bro . Alfred Nuthall was re-elected Treasurer . A Past Master ' s jewel , on the proposition of Bro . Bond , was unanimously voted to Bro . Wm . Hammond , as a slight recognition of his excellent services to the Lodge during the past year . This mark of their approbation the retiring Master well

deserves . It has been mainly owing to his exertions that the Wolsey Lodge was established , and ho has during his year of office admitted about five-and-twenty aspirants to Masonic light . The labours of the evening on this occasion occupied about four hours and a half , aud shortly after ten , tho Lodge being closed , the brethren retired to the supper room for refreshment , beaming with delight and very hungry . They separated at eleven o ' clock .

Beaconsfield Lodge , No . 1662 . —A general meeting was held at the Cheequers , Marsh-street , Walthamstow , on Saturday , the 2 nd February . Present—Bros . W . T . Christian W . M ., W . Groome S . W ., W . G . Hallows as J . W ., J . Pinder P . M ., F . Hallows Sec , T . Franklin S . D ., J . H . Cambridge J . D ., M . Hunt as I . G ., T . Upward Organist , A . Delvallo W . S ., Gilchrist Tyler . The Lodge was

opened in duo form , and the minutes of tho last meeting wero read and confirmed . Tho candidates for passing not having arrived , the W . M ., assisted by the brethren , worked the first section of the Lecture . Bros . Harris and Putney were afterwards examined and entrusted . Tho Lodgo was opened in the second degree , aud the two candidates were regularly introduced and passed to tho degree of

Fellow Graft . The Lodge was resumed , and tho election of W . M . for the ensuing year was proceeded with ; tho choice of the brethren was unanimous in favour of Bro . W . Groomo S . W . Bro . W . T . Christian was elected Treasurer , and Bro . Gilchrist T yler . A Past Master ' s jewel was unanimously voted from the Lodgo Funds to the outgoing W . M ., for his able and efficient services to the Lodge during

his term of office . A Past Master s jewel was also voted to Bro . J . Pinder for his services as first P . M . of this Lodge . Tho Audit Committee was then appointed , and tho Lodge was closed in due form , and adjourned until Saturday , the 5 th October . The brethren afterwards sat down to an excellent supper , after which the usual Masonic toasts wero given by tho W . M . Amongst tho Visitors present were

Seex , E . Darcy , Backhand , and Thomas Cull , who was afterwards elected a member . Tho usnal preliminaries were gone through , and the ceremony of exaltation rehearsed , Comp . Wagner acting candidate . Upon previous notice of motion by Comp . E . B . Grabham , it was unanimously resolved to hold tho future meetings of tho Chapter at 6 ' 30 instead of 7 o ' clock . Ifc is hoped thafc thoso Companions whoso convenience this alteration is intended to servo will bo moro

regular in their attendance . Comp . Constable moved that the Chapter be adjourned until Tuesday , the 19 th inst ., which was seconded and carried nem com . The object of this step was to allow Companions the opportunity of attending the Public Night of the Prudent Brethren Chapter on the 12 th instant , when several illustrations and lectures in connection with tho degree will bo given . We know no more able exponent than our excellent Companion John Boyd , under whoso auspices this meeting is promoted .

Hilda Eose Croix Chapter . —We understand thafc , Avith tho approval of the Supreme Grand Council 33 ° , tho warrant of the Hilda Chapter 18 ° , Whitby , is about to bo transferred to York . This step takes placo with the full approval of all concerned ; York being a central point , whore it is anticipated the Chapter will havo a far better chance of making progress than iu such an outlying , albeit charming spot , as Whitby .

Basing Star Lodge of Western India . —This flourishing Lodge held its annual meeting on Saturday , the 12 th ult . It was most numerously attended , not only by tho active and enterprising members of tho Lodge , but by a distinguished number of the most eminent brethren of the sister Lodges in Western India . It being installation meeting , a particular interest was displayed in the

proceedings , particularly when it was nnanimonsly admitted thafc ifc would bo difficult to find a worthy compeer and successor to so talented a Master as E . W . Bro . Hormusjee Dabhoy . Yot it was the concurrent opinion that no ono connected with the Lodge could moro worthily represent its interests and protect its welfare than tho E . W . Master elect , Bro . Hovmasiee Dadabhoy . The important ceremony of instal

lation was admirably performed by E . W . Bro . Eustomjee Merwanjoe , and a due mead of praise , deservedly won , was accorded him by all present . The E . W . Master installed the following brethren as office , bearers for the ensuing year , viz .: —W . Bros . Hormusjeo Muncherjee Chichgur Senior Warden , Dr . At the meeting of Lodge Allegiance , No . 546 , Scottish . Constitution , held on 12 th December , afc Allahabad , Bro . H . Gawke was elected R . W . M . for the ensuing- term , and

Bro . J . Russell the retiring Master as Treasurer of the Lodge . Serjeant Major G . R . Prestwood , R . A ., was balloted for , and , the ballot being clear , initiated into the mysteries of Freemasonry .

Hilda Eose Croix Chapter . —We understand thafc , Avith tho approval of the Supreme Grand Council 33 ° , tho warrant of the Hilda Chapter 18 ° , Whitby , is about to bo transferred to York . This step takes placo with the full approval of all concerned ; York being a central point , whore it is anticipated the Chapter will havo a far better chance of making progress than iu such an outlying , albeit charming spot , as Whitby .

Basing Star Lodge of Western India . —This flourishing Lodge held its annual meeting on Saturday , the 12 th ult . It was most numerously attended , not only by tho active and enterprising members of tho Lodge , but by a distinguished number of the most eminent brethren of the sister Lodges in Western India . It being installation meeting , a particular interest was displayed in the

proceedings , particularly when it was nnanimonsly admitted thafc ifc would bo difficult to find a worthy compeer and successor to so talented a Master as E . W . Bro . Hormusjee Dabhoy . Yot it was the concurrent opinion that no ono connected with the Lodge could moro worthily represent its interests and protect its welfare than tho E . W . Master elect , Bro . Hovmasiee Dadabhoy . The important ceremony of instal

lation was admirably performed by E . W . Bro . Eustomjee Merwanjoe , and a due mead of praise , deservedly won , was accorded him by all present . The E . W . Afcer the business of tho evening was brought to a conclusion , tho members of the Lodge and the visiting brethren retired from labour to refreshment , and enjoyed a social evening , when tho usual conventional ancl Masonic toasts were proposed aud cordially responded to . At the meeting of Lodge Allegiance , No . 546 , Scottish . Constitution , held on 12 th December , afc Allahabad , Bro . H . Gawke was elected R . W . M . for the ensuing- term , and

Bro . J . Russell the retiring Master as Treasurer of the Lodge . Serjeant Major G . R . Prestwood , R . A ., was balloted for , and , the ballot being clear , initiated into the mysteries of Freemasonry .

S . O ., J . J . J . O ., & c . After tho formal business had been transacted , and the accounts audited and passed , tho election took place for a W . M . for the ensuing year , which resulted in tie unanimous choice of Bro . W . Hall S . W . to that important office . Bro . W . J . Sly was also elected Treasurer . The installation will take place on Monday , 25 th March , on which occasion the founder of the Lodge , Bro . Dr . Moore , will officiate as Installing Officer .
