The Loyal Wye Lodge, No. 1807.

and waiting was all that could be desired . The W . M . of the Loyal Wye Lodge presided , having on hia right the D . P . G . M . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts having been proposed and responded to , the Chairman proposed the health of tho D . P . G . M ., and thanked him most sincerely for having been instrumental in obtaining the Loyal Wve charter , and also for his kindness in putting himself to some

inconvenience in attending on that day for the purpose of consecrating the Lodge . Tho D . P . G . M ., in responding , said that he heartily thanked the brethren for the manner in which they had received the toast . It had given him pleasure to bo present on that occasion , and ho wished the Loyal Wye Lodge every success . Bro . Daniels P . S . VV . having replied to the toast of tho Provincial Grand Officers , the Rev .

J . E . Protbero , of Builth , responded to that of tho Visitors , and said that it hadgiven him much pleasure to be present ou that occasion , and that although he was Provincial Grand Chaplain for tho South Wales Western Division , he was not altogether a stranger to tho Eastern Division , and certainly not a stranger to Bailth , and that ho consequently wished the Loyal Wye Lodge a prosperous future . The

D . P . G . M ., in proposing the health of tho W . M ., Bro . H . C . I . Rich , said that he did so with feelings of much pleasure . He was proposing the health of one who was not only a P . M . of another Lodge , but also a Past Provincial Grand Officer , and he felt assured the Loyal Wye Lodge would have no reason to regret having chosen him for their first W . M . The W . M ., in a few choice

remarks , thanked the D . P . G . M . tor his kind allusions , and the brethren present for so heartily receiving them . Bro . Whittington proposed the health of the Afan Choir , the names of which bod y have already been given , and thanked them most cordiall y for the mnsical treat they had afforded the brethren during tho day . Bro . Goodfellow , of tho Merthyr Lodge , iu responding for the Lodges of tho Province ,

spoke of the excellent moral principles inculcated by Masonry , and that there was something in Masonic duties which endeared Masonry to him more and more . Of course there were black sheep to bo found amongst Masons . Ho only wished they were all white sheep ; but at the same time it was tho duty of every Mason to bev / aro of the first

fatal step which drew him away from the principles of Masonry , and thereby disgraced the Masonio art . Bro . Thomas , of th < Talbot Lodge , also responded , and said how pleased ho was to find a 1 odge had been founded so near the Wells as Builth , and that he hopi-1 to bo ablo to visit the Loyal Wye Lodge during tho season . The company shortly afterwards separated , having spent a truly genial Mai juio day .

FIDELIS LODGE .

rpHE consecration of the Fidelis Lodgo , No . 1809 , took place on the JL 28 th ult . amidst much ceremony , and , according to tho Guernsey Star , tho event marked a vory important epoch in tho history of Freemasonry in that island . About seventy brethren from the various neighbouring Lodges assembled at six o ' clock in tho Masonic Hall , Court Street , when , the proceedings having being formally inaugurated , the rite of consecration was impressively performed by

Bro . James Gallionne P . D . P . G . M . P . M . 84 W . M . 168 , who had been duly vested with power from tho Grand Lodgo of England for this special purpose . The Consecrating Officer was supported iu tho chairs by tho regular Officers of the Planners' Lodge , Uro . F . Clarke P . M . 108 acting as D . C . and Bio . Wilkins P . M . 8-1 as Chaplain . Excellent musical arrangements had been made by Bro . J . W . Hinion .

M . A ., Mus . Due , No . Hi . The bieihreu having entered iu procession , Lod"e was opened in the three degrees , aud after au appropriate prayer had beeu offered by the acting Chaplain , the Masonic Ode was chanted , and the Commanding Officer addressed the brethren ou the nature of tho meeting . He then called upon the Secretary to state the wishes of the brethren of the new Lodge . Ho did so , aud read

the petition and warrant , which bore tho signatures : —Bros . T . M . Bichard , J . Toms , T . Le Ray , J . T . Suell , J . S . Sueath , J . H . Parsons , B . Pleace , and S . J . Hutchinson , at whose request tho charter was granted . Tho brethren having expressed their approval of the Officers nominated in the warrant , tho Chaplain delivered an oration on tho nature and design of the Institution of Freemasonry . The

ode , commencing " Except the Lord conduct tho plan , was then sung , and after the invocation the Lodge board was unveiled by the brethren who bore it into the room , and the namo of tho M . H . was placed on the pedestal by the Director of Ceremonies . The consecration service then proceeded in ancient and solemn form , the Consecrating Officer strewing corn upon the ground , the emblem ol

plenty ; the S . W . pouring out wine , tho emblem ot joy aud happiness ; and the J . W . pouring out oil , the emblem of unity . A prayer was offered by the Presiding Officer ; the W . M . and Wardens of the new Lod"c deposited the emblems they bore upon the Lodge-boaru ; and the chant , " Glory be to God ou High , on earth peace , goodwill to man , " followed . The censer having been borno round by the

Chaplain , and tho concluding portion of the prayers said , tho Presiding Officer declared in solemn form the Fidelis Lodge duly consecrated , and pronounced tho constitution . Tho ceremony of installing Bro . T . M . Bichard first W . M . of Fidelis Lodge was then proceeded with in due form , and the W . M . invested as his Officers : —Bros . Thos . Lo Ray S . W ., J . T . Snell J . W ., and J . S . Sueath Treas . aud Sec . pro

tern . This being completed , Manners Lodgo was resumed , aud , bsforo closing the proceedings , the new W . M ., in the name of the Charter brethren , most cordially thanked the Consecrating Officer for the very able and perfect manner in which the impressive ceremony of the day had been conducted ; and , on behalf of thosu brethren , presented Bro . Gallienne wiih a very handsome Royal Arch apron and sash . This gift was most feelingly acknowledged by Bro .

Gallienne , and tho Lodge was closed according to ancient usage . A banquet was afterwards hcltl , under the presir ency of Bro . Gallienne , to which about sixty brethren sat down aud did good justice to the sumptuous fare provided . The ust ' -il Loyal aud Masonic toasts were given aud responded to with full honour , and a most harmonious evening was spent , the brethren s parating ultimately with the most hearty wishes for tho prospt -ity of Fidelis Lodge .

Gallienne , to which about sixty brethren sat down aud did good justice to the sumptuous fare provided . The ust ' -il Loyal aud Masonic toasts were given aud responded to with full honour , and a most harmonious evening was spent , the brethren s parating ultimately with the most hearty wishes for tho prospt -ity of Fidelis Lodge .
