"We shall be pleased to receive particulars of Masonic meetings for insertion in our columns , and where desired will endeavour to send a representative , to report Lodge or other proceedings .

CEAFT : METEOPOLITAN

LEWISHAM LODGE , No . 2579 . ON Wednesday , 23 rd ult ., an enjoyable Cinderella in connection with this Lodge was given at Lady well Baths , Lewisham , in aid of the Institution for Aged Freemasons and Widows . Those present numbered close on 150 .

INSTRUCTION .

ST . JOHN LODGE , No . 167 . rjMHE seventh annual meeting and banquet of this popular Lodge was JL held at the Court House , Harlesden , on Thursday , 24 th ult ., when Bro . 3 . T . Mercer P . M . 2427 presided , supported in the vice-chairs by Bros . Stephen Hussey P . M . 16 S 7 Treasurer , and F . S . Priest P . M . 1637 Secretary . The duties of Stewards were well carried out by Bros . H . A . Moore 1637 , F . 3 . Greenwood 2593 , and W . G . Cane 1767 .

After the banquet the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed in well chosen words by the able President , and cordially responded to by the company present . An excellent programme of music , under the direction of Bro . 0 . Winterbon , who presided at the piano , was carried out , Bros . J . Bartlett , G . Chapman , A . Williams , W . G . Cane , and others assisting .

In addition to those already mentioned we noticed Bros . Fripp , Fisk , Stanley Ball , Golby , Fordham , Lawrence , H . Willsmer , McBane , and about thirty others . During the past season there have been 1 , 153 attendances at the meetings , being an average of twenty-three . The sale of the " Freemason , " which is presented to the Lodge each week , and disposed of by auction after the meeting , has , during the year , realised upwards of £ 10 .

Twenty Guineas have been paid to the Masonic Charities , and after paying all expenses a balance of £ 1 3 s 9 d is carried forward .

ROYAL ALFRED LODGE , No . 780 . ON Thursday , 24 th ult ., at the Star and'Garter Hotel , Kew Bridge , Bros . S . W . Keene P . M . W . M ., W . Langdon S . W ., R .. Adlington J . W ., 3 . H . Gumming P . M . Sec , R . H . Williams . P . M . P . P . G . J . D . Middx . Preceptor , H . T . Johnson S . D ., E . H . Wilcox J . D ., J . Dinnis P . M . I . G ., R . W . Robinson , F . W . Osman , and others .

•Lodge was opened to the second degree and resumed to the first . Bro . Osman then answered the questions leading to the second degree , and the ceremony of passing was rehearsed . The Preceptor gave the lecture on the tracing board in a faultless manner . Lodge was resumed to the third degree , and closed down .

Bro . H . T . Johnson moved , and it was unanimously carried , that a vote of condolence be recorded and sent to the family of the late Lord Lathom . The Secretary was also directed to write to Bro . Ex-Inspector Rawlings , and express the sympathy of the members of the Lodge with him in his dangerous illness .

Bro . Adlington was unanimously elected as W . M . for the 15 th inst ., as the next meeting would be placed at the disposal of the Mother Lodge . Bro . A . 3 . Swash S . W . Vitruvian Lodge , No . 87 , was elected a member .

EARL OF CARNARVON LODGE , No . 1642 . ON Friday , 2 nd inst ., at Bro . T . H , Darby ' s , Elgin Hotel , Ladbroke Grove , Notting Hill , Bros . W . R . Hutton W . M ., W . H . Handover S . W W . R . IMPERIAL LODGE , No . 1694 . A MOST successlul meeting was held on Tuesday , at Bro . Douglas White's , tho Pier Hotel , Chelsea . Being Preceptor ' s night the chair was taken by the popular Bro . G . Holland , with Fountain Wood S . W ., W . S . Thwaites 3 . W ., A . Schott Sec , F . Leeks S . D ., W . R . Mead J . D ., R . Hicks I . G . There were several members and Visitors present to witness the working of Brother Holland , who rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , including the charge , with Bro . Franklin acting as the candidate . After the ceremony tha Preceptor gave a very interesting and learned lecture on the first degree , and he was highly complimented for the real

Masonic treat he had provided for the Brethren . Bro . Wood S . W . proposed that a hearty vote of thanks ba recorded on the minutes for the excellent and perfect working of their Preceptor . Two more members were added to the list , bringing up the number to fifty-five . We congratulate the Brethren of this Lodge on its success , and wish it and them continued prosperity . Bro . Fountain Wood will preside on Tuesday next .

EARL OF LATHOM LODGE , No . 1922 . THERE was an exceptional gathering , and a most successful evening was spent , on the occasion of the working of the Fifteen Sections in this Lodge last week , at Bro . Charles Sisman ' s , the Station Hotel , Camberwell New Road , under the presidency of Bro . C . L . Plant P . M . the popular Precentor of the Lodae .

The presiding Officer had the support of Bros . H . Cornford W . M .-elect 1922 as S . W ., W . Hill I . G . 1512 Treas . as J . W ., W . S . Whitaker P . M . 1572 acting I . P . M ., E . J . S . Ware J . W . 1922 Sec , M . McVey S . D ., W . Hurley J . D ., Charles Sisman Steward , C . Elderfield I . G ., & c ; among others present being Bros . O'Dea . P ^ M . ( Preceptor of several Lodges of Instruction ) , W . Stunt P . M ., Wiltshire , Walker , Spencer , Brown , Side , Queloh , Groom , Heath , Stone , Shipton , Shephard , R . Trotter , F . Swinford , Whiting P . M ., Little , Burton , McGregor , J . Wynman , & c , the whole assembly numbering between fifty and aixtv Brethren .

The Sections of the first degree were worked by the following Brethren : B . Sobel , W . _ . Groom , M . McVey , E . J . S . Ware iSec of the Lodge ) , W . G . Hurley , R . Whiting P . M ., H . Cornford W . M .-elect 1922 ( in the absence of Bro . F . W . Trotter ) , after which the Lodge was called from labour to refreshment . On resumption the Lodge was advanced to the second degree , and the Sections connected therewith were worked by the following : Bros . R . Taylor P . M . 2148 , C . H . Stone P . M . 507 , W . Hill ( in the absence of Bro . 0 . Johnson ) , W . S . Whitaker P . M . 1572 , and J . Hooper P . M . 1320 .

Lodge was futher advanced , and the third degree Sections were worked by Bros . B . Cohen , W . Hill , and J . R . Cass P . M . 132 u , the last named bringing the work to a most successful conclusion , the whole reflecting the greatest credit on the Brethren who assisted , as well as on the worthy Preceptor , who did so much : to ensure the success of the meeting by the ability he displayed in the chair .

Bro . O'Dea P . M ., who had assumed the position of I . P . M . on the retirement of Bro . Whitaker , proposed that a hearty vote of thanks be passed to the W . M ., and recorded on the minutes , in recognition of the able manner in which he had discharged the duties of the chair on the occasion . This was seconded by Bro . Cornford S . W ., supported by Bro . E . Ware Secretary , and unanimously agreed to by the members .

The acting W . M ., in acknowledgment , sincerely thanked the Brethren for their mark of favour , and Bro . Whitaker particularly , for the kind assistance he had rendered in the work of the evening . The worthy Preceptor next proposed that a vote of thanks be passed to . the Brethren who had worked the different Sections—especially to Bros . Cornford and Hill , who had kindly taken the place of Brethren who were unavoidably absent—and this suggestion being seconded in regular order it was unanimously agreed to .

The following Brethren were admitted to membership of the Lodge , viz : Bros . H . Levy , O'Dea P . M ., Bliss , tihephard , Barwick , Smyth , McGregor , S . West , Greenway , Mitchell , and several others . Bro . O'Dea , being called upon to acknowledge the election , tendered thanks on his own behalf , and felt sure that all the other Brethren who had been elected were also delighted to join the Lodge , where they had the advantage of an able and painstaking Preceptor—one who was always ready and willing to impart Masonic instruction to all who desired to acquire it .

The Lodge meets every Wednesday evening , at 8 o ' clock , the Preceptor Bro . 0 . L . Plant P . M . 101 being , as Bro . O'Dea observed , an able and efficient tutor of the Masonic ritual—at all times pleased to impart knowledge of the work to any Brethren who may attend the Lodge . The Lodge meets in most comfortable quarters , and Bro . Sisman , Proprietor of the Hotel , tells us he will ba pleased to accommodate Lodges ot Instruction and other similar gatherings on the other evenings of the week .

In connection with this Lodge of Instruction a Benevolent Association has been worked for some time . As a result a sum of 260 guineas was sent during the period of the first series , and the second one , now in operation , is likely to prove even more successful .

AT the same comfortable quarters , on Wednesday , 7 th inst ., Bro . H . Eyre officiated as W . M ., and was most ably assisted by the following : H . Cornford W . M .-elect 1922 S . W ., F . VV . Trotter J . W ., G . L . Plant P . M . Prec , W . Hill Treas ., E . J . S . Ware Assist . Sec , VV . E . Groom S . D ., F . Messent J . D ., L . Shipton X . G ., H . Levey , Sisman , Morris , Wynman and others .

The Lodge being duly formed fcb . 3 W . M . proceeded to rehearse the ceremony of initiation , for which Bro . Morris offered himself as candidate . The ceremony was perfectly rendered , and at its conclusion thc W . M . opened the Lodge in the second' degree , when Bro . Cornford , with the assistance of the Brethren , worked the lirst section of the Lecture . The Lodge was resumed to the first degree , and Bro . Trotter J . W . worked the first section of that Lecture .

The acting W . M ., in acknowledgment , sincerely thanked the Brethren for their mark of favour , and Bro . Whitaker particularly , for the kind assistance he had rendered in the work of the evening . The worthy Preceptor next proposed that a vote of thanks be passed to . the Brethren who had worked the different Sections—especially to Bros . Cornford and Hill , who had kindly taken the place of Brethren who were unavoidably absent—and this suggestion being seconded in regular order it was unanimously agreed to .

The following Brethren were admitted to membership of the Lodge , viz : Bros . H . Levy , O'Dea P . M ., Bliss , tihephard , Barwick , Smyth , McGregor , S . West , Greenway , Mitchell , and several others . Bro . O'Dea , being called upon to acknowledge the election , tendered thanks on his own behalf , and felt sure that all the other Brethren who had been elected were also delighted to join the Lodge , where they had the advantage of an able and painstaking Preceptor—one who was always ready and willing to impart Masonic instruction to all who desired to acquire it .

The Lodge meets every Wednesday evening , at 8 o ' clock , the Preceptor Bro . 0 . L . Plant P . M . 101 being , as Bro . O'Dea observed , an able and efficient tutor of the Masonic ritual—at all times pleased to impart knowledge of the work to any Brethren who may attend the Lodge . The Lodge meets in most comfortable quarters , and Bro . Sisman , Proprietor of the Hotel , tells us he will ba pleased to accommodate Lodges ot Instruction and other similar gatherings on the other evenings of the week .

In connection with this Lodge of Instruction a Benevolent Association has been worked for some time . As a result a sum of 260 guineas was sent during the period of the first series , and the second one , now in operation , is likely to prove even more successful .

AT the same comfortable quarters , on Wednesday , 7 th inst ., Bro . H . Eyre officiated as W . M ., and was most ably assisted by the following : H . Cornford W . M .-elect 1922 S . W ., F . VV . Trotter J . W ., G . L . Plant P . M . Prec , W . Hill Treas ., E . J . S . Ware Assist . Sec , VV . E . Groom S . D ., F . Messent J . D ., L . Shipton X . G ., H . Levey , Sisman , Morris , Wynman and others .

The Lodge being duly formed fcb . 3 W . M . proceeded to rehearse the ceremony of initiation , for which Bro . Morris offered himself as candidate . The ceremony was perfectly rendered , and at its conclusion thc W . M . opened the Lodge in the second' degree , when Bro . Cornford , with the assistance of the Brethren , worked the lirst section of the Lecture . The Lodge was resumed to the first degree , and Bro . Trotter J . W . worked the first section of that Lecture .
