Master Mason . Bro . J . Todd moved , and Bro . T . B . Whytehead seconded a resolution , expressing the sorrow of the Lodge at the death of their late Bro . Bryan Wormald , and condolence with his family . Bro . T . S . Camidge Org . moved a vote of thanks to Bro . W . B . Richardson P . M ., for his great liberality in guaranteeing the cost of the enlargement of the organ . Bro . W . H . Simpson presented a Manual of Masonic music .

Prosperity Chapter , No . 290 , Huddersfield . — The regular meeting of this Chapter falling on Christmas Day , the Chapter was opened at 11 . 30 a . m ., nnd b : siness adjourned until Monday , 30 th December . The business being resumed on that date , the minntes were read and confirmed . Tho ballot was taken for two candidates ; one a member of the Huddersfield Lodge 290 , and the

other a member of tho Wharncliffe Lodgo 1462 , Penistone ; the ballot in both cases being favourable , the candidates wore very impressively exalted by Comp . J . W . Turner M . E . Z . In consequence of several Companions having to go by train , the lectures were deferred , and will be given at tho next regular meeting on January 22 nd . M . elect was then presented and installed in the usual manner by a Board of Installed Masters duly opened in ample form . Bro .

W ., Matloy Sec , Turner S . D ., Parker J . D ., Taylor I . G ., Collingwood Steward , & c The addresses to the various Officers , as well as the charges to the WM . , Wardens , and members generally , woro all given by the Installing Master . At the

conclusion of tho interesting ceremony , a cordial vote of thanks was accorded to Bro . Bowes for his sei vices that day . In acknowledging the compliment , Bro . Bowes said it had afforded him very great pleasure to come to Rochdale to instal his old friend Bro . R . R . Grey , the esteemed head-master of their grammar school , aud if the manner in which he had worked the degree had met with their approval , his

pleasure was enhanced , and ho was amply repaid for any little trouble and inconvenience he might have experienced in visiting them that day . The remainder of tho bnsiness having been transacted , tho Lodgo was closed , and the room transformed into a banqueting hall . In the degree which followed , ample justice was done by a'l present , and the various Loyal and Masonic toasts were very heartily cm .

It was a most successful meeting in every way , an unusually large number of the brethren being present on tho occasion , besides numerous visitors . Among the hitter were Bros . Montague J . Crickmay P . P . S . G . Wardens Dorset . Tho installing Master was tho retiring W . M ., Bro . VV . H . Dean , who performed the whole of tho ceremony in the most efficient mariner , and to whoso eloquence a high , but pre-eniineutly deserved tribute was paid by tho P . G . M . The brethren were greatly edified by W . Bro . W . II . Dean ' s discharge of this important duty , ancl they regarded with admiration the
