C . H . Liddell was then presented as W . M . elect . After the nsual formalities in this degree had been complied with , the Lodge was opened in the third . The M . M . 's retired , and a Board of
Installed Masters was then duly formed , and Bro . Charles Henry Liddell was installed as W . M . for the year ensuing . The Board of Installed Masters was then closed , and after the customary greetings in the various degrees , the W . M . invested his Officers as follow , firsfc presenting Bro . T . P . At this season of the year we are accustomed to meet at this Lodge of
Instruction many of our friends who take advantage of the summer , tide to combine the pleasures of ah evening stroll with their desire for Masonic instruction . To the uncertain state of the weather must be attributed the non-appearance of these "birds of passage . " However , as a friend remarked , a change may be expected soon , and then we shall see better attendances , and more interest shown . On
Tuesday last , under the presidency of the officers named above , Lodge was opened , and after formalities had been complied with , the ceremony of passing was rehearsed , Bro . Dignam as candidate . Bro . 0 . Lorain worked the firsfc section of the lecture , assisted by the brethren . The Lodge was opened in the third degree , and regularly closed to the first . The Lodge was called off , and Bro .
CV Lorkin worked the third and fourth sections of the lecture , assisted by the brethren . Bro . Edwards , of Lodge 907 , was elected a member . Bro . Polak was appointed W . M . for next Tuesday evening . The Preceptor will work the installation ceremony on Tuesday evening , 22 nd inst . This Lodge does nofc close during the summer months .

M . expressed , on behalf of himself and the other brethren of the Lodge , the debt of gratitude they owed him for affording them tho benefit of his experience by accepting the position . The Installing Master Bro . Chas . Sawyer then delivered tho ancient charges to the W . M .,
Wardens and Brethren , explaining tho respective working tools at length . The greatest credit is due to Bro . Sawyer for the very able , careful and impresiive manner in which he rendered the beautiful ceremony of Installation from beginning to end , and many encomiums were afterwards passed upon him by the brethren present . At the second rising the W . M . said thafc he had now on behalf of the Lodge a very
pleasing duty to perform , viz . that of presenting to Bro . Sawyer I . P . M . a handsome Past Master ' s jewel . As expressed by the inscription thereon , it waa given as a token of the regard and esteem in which the brethren of the Lodge held him , and as a slight recognition of the valuable services he had rendered the Lodge , not only during his year of office ( which had been a very successful one ) , but since the formation
of the Lodge , of which he ( Bro . Sawyer ) was one of the founders , and he ( fche W . M . ) prayed thafc fche G . A . O . T . tj . would spare him for many years fco wear ifc . The presentation was greeted with sroafc acclamation and approval . Bro . Sawyer returned thanks in : i i '\ > rt but impressive speech . Bro . Noehmer then explained to the brethren thafc their W . M . Bro . John G . Horsey had that evening very kindly presented
to the Lodge the handsome gauntlets thafc he ( fche W . M . ) and the Wardens were now wearing , and moved thata vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes ; this being seconded , was carried unanimously . Bro . Davison S . W . having proposed three candidates for initiation , which were duly seconded , and some other business transacted , the Lodge was closed in due form , after whioh the brethren adjourned to a
substantial banquet . After grace had been sung in a very impressive manner tho W . M . proposed " The Queen and the Craft , " and followed with the other usual loyal toasts , all of which were duly honoured . When giving that of the R . W . the Grand Master of the Province , Sir W . Bnrrell , Bart ., M . P ., the V . W . the Prov . G . M . of the Province , Bro . Scott and the rest of the Prov . Grand Officers , the W . M . said that he
had received a communication from tho Prov . Grand Secretary , stating that a previous engagement unfortunately prevented the Prov . G . M . and Prov . Grand Officers from boing present on this occasion , whioh he as W . M . very much regretted . The I . P . M . proposed The Worshipful Master , and spoke at some length as to tho virtues and capabilities of Bro . John G . Horsey , who he felt sure was ( as W . M . of the Sackville
Lodge ) the right man in the right place , and would afc the end of his year of office evince to the brethren by his conduct of the affairs of the Lodge that he well deserved the terms of praise he now passed upon him ; ho knew well tho love their W . M . had for Masonry , and the great care and attention he always paid to the proper performance of its rites , and the strict following of the landmarks of the
order . The toast was received with mnch applause . In proposing the toasfc " The Visitors , " the W . M . coupled with it the names of Bro . C . W . Hudson W . M . 315 and Bro . W . C . Banks W . M . 1223 , who on behalf of the rest of the visitors and themselves expressed the pleasure they feet afc being then present , and their thanks for the entertainment afforded them . In giving the toast " The Past Masters of the Sackville
Lodge , " the W . M . again spoke very highly of the I . P . M . Bro . Sawyer , and of his unremitting attention to the interests of the Lodge . In that of the officers he could not help observing that whilst one and all were most able and energetic , Bros . Davison S . W ., Head J . W ., and Bro . Rudge S . D ., had done great service . He concluded this toast b y again thanking Bro . C . W . Noehmer P . M . for accepting the offico of
D . C . During the evening Bros . Hook , W . Hamlyn , Chubb , and others sang some songs in excellent style , and Bro . A . Billyeald gave three recitations with great power and feeling . The Tyler ' s toasfc brought the proceedings to a close . The London brethren were much indebted to the London , Brighton , and South Coast Railway Company for attaching to the 10 . 15 a . m . train a Saloon Carriage for their accommodation .

The Lodge may be congratulated upon having so many of the brethren of the mother Lodgo who take an active part in its working . Bro . Sec . then read a letter from Bro . Dickinson , Sec Royal Standard Lodge of Instruction , offering a cordial invitation to the West Smithfield brethren to visit them and work the Fifteen Sections . This was unanimously accepted , and arrangements were made for doing so on the 25 th July . Bro .

In giving the toast " The Past Masters of the Sackville
Lodge , " the W . M . again spoke very highly of the I . P . M . Bro . Sawyer , and of his unremitting attention to the interests of the Lodge . In that of the officers he could not help observing that whilst one and all were most able and energetic , Bros . Davison S . W ., Head J . W ., and Bro . Rudge S . D ., had done great service . He concluded this toast b y again thanking Bro . C . W . Noehmer P . M . for accepting the offico of
D . C . During the evening Bros . Hook , W . Hamlyn , Chubb , and others sang some songs in excellent style , and Bro . A . Billyeald gave three recitations with great power and feeling . The Tyler ' s toasfc brought the proceedings to a close . The London brethren were much indebted to the London , Brighton , and South Coast Railway Company for attaching to the 10 . 15 a . m . train a Saloon Carriage for their accommodation .

M . 12 occupied the chair , and was supported by Bros . R . Greenwood S . W ., G . H . Stephens J . W ., W . Pennefather P . M . Preceptor , E . Mallett P . M . Hon . Sec , H . J . Lardner S . D ., H . Forss J . D .,
W . Smyth I . G . ; also Bros . Renaut , W . Jennings W . M . 907 , Edwards , D . Moss , and Humphreys . Lodge was opened in due form , and tho nsual formalities having been observed , Bro . Kidder worked tha initiation ceremony , Bro . Renaut candidate . The W . M . next called npon Bro . Stuart ( who , owing to Bro . Pennefather having been called away , kindly acted as Preceptor ) to work the first , Bro . D . Moss the second , Bro . H . J . Lardner the third , and Bro . Stephens
the fourth sections of the lecture , all of which working was admirably rendered , with the assistance of the brethren . The Lodge may be congratulated upon having so many of the brethren of the mother Lodgo who take an active part in its working . Bro . Sec . then read a letter from Bro . Dickinson , Sec Royal Standard Lodge of Instruction , offering a cordial invitation to the West Smithfield brethren to visit them and work the Fifteen Sections . This was unanimously accepted , and arrangements were made for doing so on the 25 th July . Bro .
