LODGE OF HONOUR . No . 526
AT the regnlar meeting at the Star and Garter Hotel , Wolverhampton , on the 9 th inst ., the Worshipfnl Master , Bro . John Clark , presented to Brother J . Ridd Hayman P . M . 257 , 309 , and 1990 , Fast Prov . Grand Begistrar of Hampshire and the late of Wight , a handsomely bound address engrossed on vellum . The ceremony was performed on behalf of the Hampshire Lodge of Emulation 1990 , a Lodge composed entirely of Fast Masters , in the formation of whioh much
was done by Bro . Hayman , who was its first W . M . Brother Hayman having left his own province and come to reside in Wolverhampton , the brethren of No . 1690 resolved npon signifying their appreciation of hia services in a befitting manner , and as their first Master found it impossible , from stress of business , just now to go and receive the testimonial at their hands , the present Worshipfnl Master requested
Bro . Clark , of whose Lodge Bro . Hayman has just been elected a joining member , to present the address , tbe request being conveyed in a letter in whioh the writer said : " Brother Hayman is held in the very hig hest estimation in this province , by every Mason of his acquaintance , from the Provincial Grand Master downwards . He has served
as W . M . of three Lodges in this district , aud hia removal from amongst as is felt to be a great loss to the Craft , to which he has rendered valuable services as Provincial Grand Begistrar bnt by no one is bis departure more deplored than by the members of ihe Hampshire Lodge of Emulation . " Ancient Free and Accepted Masons , Hampshire Lodge of Emulation 1990 . Extract from minutes of meeting held May 10 th , 18 * 1 Resolved , that the best thanks of the Lodge be given to W . Bro . John Ridd Hayman for his zealous and energetic labours in the formation of the Lodge , and the conspicu ous Masonio ability and courtesy with
which he conducted its affairs as the first Worshipful Master ; and that this expression of opinion be recorded on the minntes , copied on vellum , and presented to Bro . THB LODGE OF ST . JOHN , No . 1306 . THE fourth annual summer banquet of this Lodge took place on Wednesday , the 9 tb inst ., at the Boyal Forest Hotel , Cbingford . There was a good attendance of brethren of the Lodge , Visitors , and Ladies . Amongst those present were Bro . J . P . T . Couture W . M ., Mrs . and Miss Couture , Bro . C . Teal P . M ., Mrs . and Miss Veal , Bro . Magrath P . M ., Mrs . and Master Magrath , Bro . T . Wooding P . M ., Mrs . Wooding , Bro . Hardy , Mrs . and Miss . Hardy , Bro . and Mrs . Wise
Bro . and Mrs . Oppenheim , Bro . Blaney , Bro . and Miss Beard , Bro . Collier and Mrs . and Miss Collier , Bro . and Mrs . Blain , Bro . and Mrs . Joslin , Bro . and Mrs . King , Bro . and Mrs . M . of tbe Lodge , occupied the chair , the vice-chair being filled by Bro . C . Veal P . M . The banquet , which was served in
first-rate style , seemed to be thoroughly enjoyed by every one present j it being finished , grace was said , and the nsual loyal and other toasts dnly hononred . Bro . G . King ably responded for the visitors , and Bro . F . H . Dale for the ladies . The W . M . informed the company that there were brakes in waiting to take them for a drive , and the whole of the party embraced the opportunity of viewing some of tbe lovely
scenery of Epping Forest and enjoying the fresh air . On returning to the hotel tea and coffee was served , and the remainder of the evening was spent in dancing , a quadrille band having been speciall y engaged . Bro . Stichling , of the Earl of Zetland Lodge , able offioiating as M . C . Altogether , a most delightful day was splint , and the party returned to town declaring that this bad beon the most successful and enjoyable of any of their summer eatings .

teen greatly lessened by an emergency held a week previously , and on this occasion there were but two candidates for third , and one for the second ceremonies . Mr . Albert H . Chew , of Southampton , was a candidate for initiation . The whole of tha work was ably performed by the W . M . and his Officers , and the W . M . showed great coolness and
presence of mind under the very unusual circumstance of sudden illness occurring to the candidate for raising . On the conclusion of he several ceremonies a vote of ten guineas to Bro . Hammond , for the ttoyal Masonio Benevolent Institntion , was carried , and after the dispatch of nsual routine business the Lodge was closed . Refreshment o lowed labour , and a pleasant evening was spent in harmonv .

THE installation meeting of this small but efficient and prosperous Lodge was held on Monday , 14 th iust ., at the School-room , Park-road , Esher , when one of the first initiates , Bro . Benjamin Williams , was duly installed in the chair of K . S . The Lodge was opened in the three degrees by Bro . Goddard , the very efficient W . M ., who advanced Bro . Aldous to the sublime degree of Master Mason in a most impressive manner . Bro . Goddard then vacated the chair
in favour of that excellent Mason Bro . H . E . Frances P . P . G . S . D Surrey . Bro . Frances was , by the unanimous vote of the brethren , made a P . M . of the Lodge , and the P . M . jewel , which had been voted to him , was placed on his breast by Bro . Goddard P . M . This inter , esting business con ol tided Lodge was resumed in the second degree , and Bro . Williams was duly installed by Bro . Frances in his nsual

W . M . and Founder , and in which you are held in such high esteem . Bro . Vincent thanked tbe brethren for this continued mark of their esteem for his services , which are but a labour of love to him . He should wear the very handsome jewel near his heart , and whenever he looked npon it should remember the many happy days he bad spent in the Claremont Lodge and the great kindness and affection
evinced towards him by the brethren . He loved Freemasonry , his heart and soul were in it , and long may it and the Claremont Lodge flourish . M . and brethren , I return you , on behalf of myself and my Bro . Visitors , our sincere thanks for the very cordial manner in which the toast of onr health has been received . It is always a great pleasure to me to visit the Claremont
Lodge , because I am sure not only to receive a hearty welcome bnt to see good work . The very excellent manner in which Bro . Frances performed the installation ceremony was most pleasing to me , bnt I was particularly struck with the opening and closing of the Board of Installed Masters , and conld wish that all Lodges emulated the Clare , mont in this particular . I was much pleased to hear the eulogies
pronounced npon my worthy and esteemed Bro . P . M . Vincent , especially to see him decorated with the Treasurer ' s jewel of the Lodge . He richly deserves all his honours , for a better and truer Mason I am snre cannot be found . I thank you most sincerely for our reception , and shall be pleased to see any of the brethren at my own Lodge . Other toasts followed , and a most enjoyable evening was closed with the Tyler ' s toast .
UNITED SERVICE LODGE , No . 1428 . THERE was a nnmerous attendance of members of the Masonio Craft at tbe Freemasons' Arms , Landport , on Friday , 11 th inst ., When Bro . J . G . Mason was installed in the chair of the above flourishing Lodge , the duties of Installing Master being ably carried out by the retiring W . M . ( Bro . Charles Travess ) . After the installation the W . M . appointed the following as his Officers for the year : —Bros .
