Tho Installing Master gavo tho several charges to tho Wardens and brethren iu a perfect manner , tho whole of tho ceremony being rendered most impressively ,
reflecting tho greatest credit on Bro . Hardy for tho amount of study nnd timo he musfc have devoted to it in order to havo acquitted himself so well . There were fonr propositions for initiation , amongst the Kontlemen who offered themselves being tho Mayor of Gorrow-on-Tyno . Tho names of four brethren wore submitted as subscribing members . The W . M . received tho hearty good wishes of the many
visiting brethren , aud a snm of £ 5 5 s was voted towards presenting tho I . P . M . with a jewel , in recognition of his many services to tho Lodgo . Other routine business being disposed of , tho Lodge was closed , and tho brethren , numbering seventy-four , adjourned to the banquetting hall , whero they did full justice to a well-arranged menu . The dinner was provided by Bro . XV . Bewick , of the Ellison Honso Hotel , and
reflected great credit on him as a caterer , tho viands and wines being of remarkably good quality . Grace having been said , the brethren adjourned to the smoking room to givo an opportunity for laying the dessert . In a very short time the tables were tastefully dressed , and the brethren took their seats , tho W . M . proceeding with the toast list . The first that received attention was " The Qneen , " which
was followed by that of the Princess of Wales and the rest of tho Royal Family . Tho W . M ., in giving H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , said tho post he occupied in Masonry , as well as that which he holds in the nation , entitled him to their love and respect . He , therefore , charged tho brethren to drink his health with all hononr . The nexfc toast , which emanated from the chair , was that of tho Pro Grand
Master , the Deputy Grand Master , and Officers of Grand Lodge . The W . M . expressed his opinion that they had more to do in Masonry than the Princo . Ho would not occupy their timo by further remarks , as doubtless tho brethren were anxious to smoke . Bro . Hardy I . P . M ., in submitting the health of tho Prov . G . M . Bro . J . Fawcett , the D . G . M . Sir Hodworth Williamson , and Officers of Grand Lodge ,
was sure the toast required no words of his to ensure it a hearty and enthusiastic reception . Ho regretted they had not had the honour of having the P . G . M . with them that day , bnt they had been favoured with the presence of two worthy and distinguished Officers , namely , tho P . G . Sec . and tho P . G . D . C . Ho trusted they had been satisfied with what thoy had seen ; he should therefore couple with tho toast
tho names of Bros . Crookes and Hudson . Bro . Crookes P . G . Sec . in replying , thanked them cordially for tho way thoy had spoken of tho Prov . Grand Officers , but moro particularly for tho way tho Prov . Grand Master had been mentioned ; ho was sure all wero proud of serving under a Mason like him . When it is remembered that he is a man of eighty years of age , he truly takes a good deal of trouble
and interest in Masonry . Another thing they all might bo proud of was , that he installed the Prince of Wales as Grand Master , at which ceremony he ( Bro . Crookes ) acted as one of the Stewards . On behalf of tho Past Grand Officers , Bro . Hudson after expressing his thanks , congratulated the brotbron on their Lodgo room and tho beautiful hall in which they mot , which conld

hands , and regretted that another Officer had not been selected to respond to tho toast . Personally , ho was delighted to bo present that day , having initiated tho W . M . ; ho hoped that each Province would continue to exchange Masons liko him , and so ceinont tho unity already existing . Bro . Wrath P . M . then gavo " Tho Army , Navy , and Volunteers , " to which Bros . Capt . Bold and Quartermaster McCnlloch
suitably replied . Bro . Hardy , in a iew well chosen and flattering remarks , introduced " Health , prosperity aud long lifo to tho W . M . " After dilating on his many good qualities , ho called on the brethren to drink tho toasb with bumpers . Tho AV . M ., who was enthusiastically received , returned his sincere thanks not only for tho way his name had boon received , but also to tho brethren for tho proud position
they had placed him in ; he hoped to hand tho Lodgo over to his successor in as flonrishing a state as ho received it . Before sitting down ho passed some well merited encomiums on Bro . Hardy , tho I . P . M . and Installing Master . Ho was sure no words of his wero required to insure his . name being well received . Bro . Hardy folt amply repaid for anything ho had dono by tho approbation of tho brethren .
Tho Visitors received a hearty welcomo at tho hands of Bro . Wrath , and tho toast was responded to by Bros . Mackey , Don , Taylor , and Wilson . The next toast on tho list was " Tho Press , " proposed in suitable terms by Bro . Hardy , who expressed his pleasure at having four representatives present , amongst whom waa ono from tlio FUEEMASON ' S CHRONICLE . Bro . J . H . Thompson ( Neiecastle
Chronicle " ) acknowledged tho compliment , and in course of his remarks intimated to the brethren that his Lodgo at South Shields , St . Hilda , No . 240 , would celebrate its centenary meeting on Iho 31 st of next month , at which ho hoped to seo all tho brethren . Tho Past and Present Officers , and the Masonio Charities also received dno attention , and the Tyler was thon called . Bro . McCnlloch acted as
toast Master in a very efficient manner . Some exceptionally lino harmony was kindly rendered by Bro . Lcatham of Durham Cathedral , also somo amusing songs and imitations by Bro . Georgo Thompson . During tho banquet somo well executed selections wero performed ou tho harmonium , which woro most enjoyable . Wo must congratulate , tho brethren of this Lodgo upon having snch : i conveiiiun t and splendid
Hall to meet in , tho fittings of which aro both elaborate and complete ; they aro fortunate in having a brother amongst thoni liko brother Bewick , who has furnished and fitted tho hall throughout at a considerable outlay , and leased it to tho Lodgo at a nominal rental . Wo aro snro this generosity on tho part of Bro . Bewick is duly appreciated by every member of tho Lodgo .
A Fancy and Full Dross Ball will bo hold under tho auspices of tho Albert Edward Lodge , No . 1557 , in tho Town Hall , Hr-xham , on tho 2 nd of April . Bro . E . D . Davis Provincial Grand D . C . has kindly consented to officiate as M . C , assisted by Bro . XV . M . Bell I . P . M . 1557 P . G . A . D . C , by whom this movement is initiated . St . Hilda Lodge , No . 240 Sonth Shields , will hold Jits Centenary Festival on the 31 st of next month . Preparations are being made to celebrate the event in a befitting manner .
HOT . T . OWAY ' PI __ S ATO Oiimn-NT . —Tlio prout vicissitudes of temperature , tho fogs anil tho foul vapours which permeate the atmosphere , try tho respiratory channels terribly ; hence arise hoarseness , quinsies , loss of voice , bronchitis and tho whole train and endless variety of throat and chest affections which now prevail . Neglect of these in their early stages is almost criminal , as many a lifo might bo saved by early and prompt treatment , by moans of Holloway's well known remedies . This treatment can bo readily and easily carried out , and soon disposes of tho attack in a most satisfactory manner , by restoring tho balance between tho circulation and respiration , by lessening tho inflammation , abating the febrile symptoms , and by soothing thb irritability of tho nerves .
