King ' s Friends Lodge , No . 293 , Nantwich . — The annual St . John ' s Festival of this Lodge was held on Tuesday , 14 th January , at the Lamb Hotel , when Bro . A . Jackson was installed W . M . for the ensuing year by Bro . II Claude Lislo P . M . P . G . S . D . Amongst those who attended tho bnsiness of the Lodge were Bros . T . R . Jones

The Installing Master then requested all brethren below the degree of Installed Master to retire . Bro . A . Jackson being entrusted , a board of installed Masters was formed , when he was duly and solemnly placed in the chair of K . S . Having

been saluted and most cordially greeted by tho Past Masters , the brethren were admitted , nnd saluted their W . M . in the several degrees . Bro . A . The Lodge heing closed in due form , the brethren adjourned to the banquet , tastefully provided by Bro . Oates , at which the W . M . presided . After tho banquet the usual Loyal nnd Masonic toasts were given and dul y acknowledged . Bro . Brayn proposed the health of the W . M ., which

was replied to in a very appropriate manner . Bro . Stevenson pro . posed the health of the Installing Master , which was duly responded to . The Visitors was acknowledged by Bros . H . J . Carrington , Stevenson and Townsend . The Tyler ' s toast was proposed , and the brethren separated in harmony , well pleased with the days ' s proceedings .

Eoyal Sussex Lodge , No . 342 . —The annual meeting to instal the W . M . for the ensuing year was held nt the Logde Room , St . George ' s-square , Portsea , on 15 th inst . when Bro . J . W . Wilmott , who was elected at the last regular meeting , was duly installed , according to ancient enstom , in the . chair of K . S .

Lodge having been opened , and due regard paid to ancient

custom , the minutes of Inst meeting were read , confirmed and signed . Bro . Talbot offered himself ns a candidate , and after assisting in the initiation ceremony , answered tho questions lending to the second degree ; the brethron wero then called off to refreshment . After a short interval labour was resumed , nnd the Lodgo advanced to the third degree ; whereupon Bro . Pearson kindly offered himself as a candidate to be raised to the sublime degree ; and Bro . Roe ( who

took the chair at the pressing desire of tho W . M . of tho evening ) n hearsed the ceremony in the impressive manner so well remembered by those who have heard Bro . Roe ' s working ; for this he was heartily thanked by all present . Lodge was closed down by Bro . Gunner . Bro . May was unanimousl y invited to honour the Lodge by occupying the chair at the next meeting . This he kindly consented to do ; and appointed his Officers . We trnst that a large number of

D ., in very enlogistio terms , with a charity jewel , which had been unanimously voted by the brethren of the Lodgo , for his very valuable services in aid of the several Masonic Institutions .

Bro . G . F . Lancaster suitably acknowledged the honour that had been conferred upon him . A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the same brother for the able and efficient manner in which he had performed the dnties of Installing Master ; also to tho I . P . M . for the satisfactory way in which he had carried out his important duties during his year of office . Great effect was given to the

business of the evening by the excellent manner in which the several odes , chants , & c , were rendered by the choir , consisting of Bros . Stroud , Knight , Pearman , and Grant . The bnsiness at the Star Hotel being concluded , tho whole of the brethron adjourned to the India Arms , where a splendid banquet was served by Mr . Newmnn . A steam launch was provided at 11 p . m . for the convenience of brethren living on the Portsmouth side of the harbour .

Wandsworth . Lodge of Instruction , No . 1044 . —A meet . ing was held at the Spread Eagle Hotel . Wandsworth , on Wednesday , the 22 nd inst . There were present : Bros . J Frost W . M ., F . Reed S . W ., W . A . Blackmore J . W .. P . V . Denham S . D ., W . J . Huntley J . D ., and Bros . J . G . Carter . C . Digbv , A . Mason . J . J . Holland , S . C . Landon , A . A . Frost , Carter , and Disrby—who are by no means the " three leaser lights " alternately occupying the chair . Bro . Mason went throngh the ceremony of initiation , and Bro . P . V . Denham that of passing . Bro . Carter , in a clear and expressive way , delivered tho E . iY . 's ' charge . Bros . Monk and Landon ( the former proposed by Bro . Reed and seconded by Bro . Carter , and the latter proposed by Bro . Huntly and seconded by Bro . P . V . Denham ) were unanimously elected as members . Bro . Reed will be the W . M . at the ensuing meeting .

East Lancashire . There were candidates for the second nnd third degrees , and the ceremonies wore worked to their advantage . It was resolved that tho individual subscriptions to the " West Lancashire Masonic Educational Institution , amounting to five guineas , should bo paid to tho Treasurer in ono sum , to constitute the Junior Warden a Life Governor , and thereby secure to the Lodge five votes per annum in perpetuity . After snpper the usual Masonic toasts were given , and the brethern dispersed at ten o ' clock .

M . presented Bro . G . F Lancaster P . J . G . D ., in very enlogistio terms , with a charity jewel , which had been unanimously voted by the brethren of the Lodgo , for his very valuable services in aid of the several Masonic Institutions .

Bro . G . F . Lancaster suitably acknowledged the honour that had been conferred upon him . A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the same brother for the able and efficient manner in which he had performed the dnties of Installing Master ; also to tho I . P . M . for the satisfactory way in which he had carried out his important duties during his year of office . Great effect was given to the

business of the evening by the excellent manner in which the several odes , chants , & c , were rendered by the choir , consisting of Bros . Stroud , Knight , Pearman , and Grant . The bnsiness at the Star Hotel being concluded , tho whole of the brethron adjourned to the India Arms , where a splendid banquet was served by Mr . Newmnn . A steam launch was provided at 11 p . m . for the convenience of brethren living on the Portsmouth side of the harbour .

Wandsworth . Lodge of Instruction , No . 1044 . —A meet . ing was held at the Spread Eagle Hotel . Wandsworth , on Wednesday , the 22 nd inst . There were present : Bros . J Frost W . M ., F . Frost , Carter , and Disrby—who are by no means the " three leaser lights " alternately occupying the chair . Bro . Mason went throngh the ceremony of initiation , and Bro . P . V . Denham that of passing . Bro . Carter , in a clear and expressive way , delivered tho E . iY . 's ' charge . Bros . Monk and Landon ( the former proposed by Bro . Reed and seconded by Bro . Carter , and the latter proposed by Bro . Huntly and seconded by Bro . P . V . Denham ) were unanimously elected as members . Bro . Reed will be the W . M . at the ensuing meeting .

East Lancashire . There were candidates for the second nnd third degrees , and the ceremonies wore worked to their advantage . It was resolved that tho individual subscriptions to the " West Lancashire Masonic Educational Institution , amounting to five guineas , should bo paid to tho Treasurer in ono sum , to constitute the Junior Warden a Life Governor , and thereby secure to the Lodge five votes per annum in perpetuity . After snpper the usual Masonic toasts were given , and the brethern dispersed at ten o ' clock .
