Great NorthernLodge . No . 1287 . —The installation meeting of this Lodge was held on Thursday , the 16 th inst ., at Freemasonshall , Great Queen-street , Lincoln-inn-fields , Bro . A . Christie W . M . in tbe chair , supported by Bros . West S . W ., Robinson J . W ., S . Webb P . M . Treas ., T . H . Staton P . M . Sec , Arkell S . D . Tribbel J . D ., and P . M . 's Bros . Reed , Lancaster , Jnpe , and Forbes . The Lodge was opened

and the minutes were confirmed . Bros . Capes and Paul wero raised to the third degree by the W . M ., who also initiated Mr . E . Edwards into the Older . Tho ceremouies were impressively rendered . The report of the audit meeting was adopted , it showed thero was over £ 100 in tho hands of the Treasurer . A Board of Installed Masters was opened , and Bro . G . West W . M . elect was dnly installed into the

chair by the retiring W . M ., Bro . Christie , whose rendering of the ceremony received the commendation of all present . On tho return of the brethren the customary salntations wero given . The W . M . invested his Officers : Bros . Robinson S . W ., Arkell J . W ., S . Webb P . M . Treas ., T . H . Staton P . M . Sec , Tribblo S . D ., Owen J . D ., Cleghorn I . G ., Bathard D . C , Lancaster P . M . W . S ., Rawles Tyler . Tho Lodge was

then closed , and the brethren partook of a banquet , provided by Bro . A . Besi , and superintended by Bro . E . Dawkins . Tho W . M ., after grace hnd been said , proposed tho usual toasts . In giving the D . G . M . Lord Skolmersdale nnd the rest of the Grand Officers of the Grand Lodgo of England , tho W . M . said they had a distinguished member present , Bro . tho Rev . Dr . Cox P . G . Chaplain , who had held

tho position of Grand Chaplain for ten years , and also that of Chaplain to tho Lord Mayor . Bro . Dr . Cox , in a very excellent speech , responded . He referred to tho working of tho brother whohad occupied the chair during the last year so admirably ; he was glad to witness tho progress of so young a Lodge . Ho had never heard tho ceremony performed with greater efficiency . Tho toast of tho

Initiates was given and acknowledged ; nnd Bro . Reed P . M . gavo tho E . A . song . Bro . Christie now rose . The Lodge had been presided over by many good Maslers . Their present W . M . was ono they might be proud of . He had been initiated in the Lodge , and all must be pleased to see him now occupy the chair . The speaker felt sure that tho year before the Lodge wonld , under the guidance of

Bro . West , prove a most successful one . The W . M . briefly thanked the brethren . Ho hoped , with the assistance of each member of the Lod e , to have a prosperous term of office . He next proposed tho health of tho I . P . M ., and in the name of the Lodge presented him with a very elegant gold P . M . ' s jewel , which bore a suitablo inscription ; at the same time he remarked that with it Bro . Christie might restassnrcd were tendered the hearty 'rood wishes of the members for

his futnre welfare . Tho toast and gift having been acknowledged , the health of the Visitors followed , to which Bro . Klcnck replied . The Wardens and Officers having received notico from tho W . M ., the Tyler's toast was given , and the proceedings bronght to a conclusion . Among the visitors were Bros . G . Cope Lodge , No . 1357 . —The monthly meeting of this Lodgo was held at Brooklands Hotel , pale , on Friday January 17 th . Present—Bros . E . J . Bradbury W . M ., 0 . P . Mnrrav I . P . M ., T . A . Ryder S . W ., G . Collier J . W ., liy . Miller Secretary , J . ' C . Crates S . D ., M . Traeey J . D ., John Ogden I . G ., John Worthington Tyler , Past Master T / D . Simcock , and Bros . Irving , W . Baldwin , Alfred Griffiths , T . Heighway , E . Kerry , II . Kidson . Visitors—R . J . Walker 1009 , W . Livesey 163 . The Lodgo was opened in due form with solemn prayer , and the minntes of the previous moeting ratified . Bro . Simcock took the chair in the East , and initiated Mr . Edgar Crosoley Poolo into the Mysteries of Freemasonry . Bro . Bradbury advanced the Lodge to the second degree ,

and in a very able and impressive manner passed Bro . II . Kidson to take his seat with Fellow Crafts . The working tools were explained in each degree by the J . W ., nnd the charges delivered by the S . W . Tho labours of the evening being ended , the W . M . received the cordial good wishes of the visiting brethren , and the Lodge was closed with solemn prayer . By request of the W . M ., tho brethren

adjourned to supper . On the removal of the cloth , the W . M . submitted the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts , which were duly honoured . In proposing tho health of tho newly initiated member , Bro . Bradbnry remarked that bis year of office so far hud been singularly fortunate in his having had the pleasure of making worthy additions to the muster roll , so desirable to the Lodge . The initiation to-night of

Bro . Poole was another instance of that gocd fortune ; he knew Bro . Poole would make a worthy Mason , and would prove an acquisition to No . 1357 . He called npon the brethren heartily to drink to the health of tho newly initiated brother . The toast was cordially received , and Bro . Miller sang the E . A . song . Bro . Poolo thanked the brethren for the privilege conferred upon him in admitting him

as a member of the Iraternity . Bro . Heywood kindly favourod the company with a song . The I . P . M ., by permission of the W . M ., proposed tho health of the newly passed brother , and very properly added that all must have bf en pleased with the efficient manner in which Bro . II . Kidson had answered the questions ; this indicated clearly the interest he took in going forward . The toast was drunk with Masonic

honours . Bro . Griffiths kindly favoured the brethren with a song , after which Bro . Kidson retnrned thanks . Although he had advanced a stage , he had not given his attention to the requisite instruction without reason ; he felt additionally impressed with the ceremony . Bro . J . W ., by command of the W . M ., proposed the health of the visiting brethren , in doing so extended , in most cordial terms , a hearty welcome to all . He had much pleasure in uniting with the toast tho

Maples . After preliminaries , the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . J . Lorkin candidate . Bro . 0 . Lorkin worked the first , second , third , and fourth sections of the Lecture , assisted by tho brothren . Bro . A . R . Olloy was appointed W . M . for the ensuing week . The Fifteen Sections will bo worked in this Lodge on tho first Wednesday in February , Bro . Fieldwick in tho chair .

Sir Hugh Myddelton Lodge of Instruction , No . 1602 . —A meeting was held on Tnesday , 21 st January , at the Crown and Woolpack . St . John-street-road . Present : —Bros . E . Pelikan W . M ., Crosbie S . W ., A . Rowley J . W ., J . Osborn Sec , Hallam jun . S . D ., Hurst I . G ., Hallam sen . acting Preceptor ; Stock , Wood . Hyland , Cook , Isaacs , Godolphin , Kitchenor and several other brethren . The bnsiness of tho evening comprised tbe rehearsal of tho ceremony of initiation , Bro .

Kitchener candidate . Tho same brother also answered the questions leading to the third degree . The first section of the first lecture was worked by Bro . Hallam jnn ., and the second and third sections by tho acting Preceptor . Bro . Kitchener of the Mother Lodge was elected a member . Bro . Crosbio was elected W . M . for next Lodge meeting . Lodge was then closed in due fo'in . Much credit is due to Bro . Pelikan for the pains ho has taken in making himself efficient . His working was excellent for so youug a member of the Craft .

Kensington Lodge , 1767 . —The second general meeting of this flourishing Lodge was bold on Saturday , 18 th January , at the Courtfleld Hotel , Earl's Court-road , South Kensington . Present—Bros . Geo . Read W . M ., Williams R . W ., Hancock J . W ., Barker S . D ., Taylor J . D ., Barfield Treasnrer , Foakes Secretary , Oliver Organist , Biclgood I . G . Visitors—Bros . Whittick P . M . " 511 , Fowler 511 ,

Corstou 865 , Bnrton 83 < 1 , Blnndle 865 , and Geo . Davis 167 . Tho Lodgo was opened in tho first and second degrees , and Bros . Duustan nnd Barclay were passed . A ballot was taken for Messrs . Wright , Kirk , and Norman ; it resulted unanimously in favour of those gentlemen , and Messrs . Kirk and Norman , being presont , wore separately initiated into the mysteries of Freemasonry—the

ceremony being performed by the W . M . in a most efficient and impressive manner ; great praise is also due to the Officers of the Lodge for the able manner each performed his duty . Bro . Oliver most ably presided at the harmonium . One gentleman was proposed for initiation at next meeting , and the Lodge was closed in due form . The brethren afterwards sat down to an excellent banquet , provided by

Bro . Silcock , tho W . M . presiding . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were dnly honoured ; tho National Anthem , God Bless the Prince of Wales , and several capital songs enlivened the proceedings . Bro . Barfield , in proposing the W . Master's health , which was most heartily received , referred to his Masonic efficiency , and his willingness at all times to render valuable assistance in the cause of Freemasonry ; he congratulated the members of the Kensington Lodge

on having snch au able brother for their first W . M . The W . M . having responded , tho toasts of the Initiates , the Visitors , and tho Officers of the Lodge were severally given and duly responded to , tho Tyler's toast bronght to a close a well spent and most enjoyable evening . We understand that Bro . G . Read will represent the Lodge at the Festival for the Girls' School , and we trust that this worthy brother , so well known in Masonry as a most able instructor , will not lack support in order to presont a good list on the occasion .

Kensington Lodge , 1767 . —The second general meeting of this flourishing Lodge was bold on Saturday , 18 th January , at the Courtfleld Hotel , Earl's Court-road , South Kensington . Present—Bros . Geo . Read W . M ., Williams R . W ., Hancock J . W ., Barker S . D ., Taylor J . D ., Barfield Treasnrer , Foakes Secretary , Oliver Organist , Biclgood I . G . Visitors—Bros . Whittick P . M . " 511 , Fowler 511 ,

Corstou 865 , Bnrton 83 < 1 , Blnndle 865 , and Geo . Davis 167 . Tho Lodgo was opened in tho first and second degrees , and Bros . Duustan nnd Barclay were passed . A ballot was taken for Messrs . Wright , Kirk , and Norman ; it resulted unanimously in favour of those gentlemen , and Messrs . Kirk and Norman , being presont , wore separately initiated into the mysteries of Freemasonry—the

ceremony being performed by the W . M . in a most efficient and impressive manner ; great praise is also due to the Officers of the Lodge for the able manner each performed his duty . Bro . Oliver most ably presided at the harmonium . One gentleman was proposed for initiation at next meeting , and the Lodge was closed in due form . The brethren afterwards sat down to an excellent banquet , provided by

Bro . Silcock , tho W . M . presiding . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were dnly honoured ; tho National Anthem , God Bless the Prince of Wales , and several capital songs enlivened the proceedings . Bro . Barfield , in proposing the W . Master's health , which was most heartily received , referred to his Masonic efficiency , and his willingness at all times to render valuable assistance in the cause of Freemasonry ; he congratulated the members of the Kensington Lodge

on having snch au able brother for their first W . M . The W . M . having responded , tho toasts of the Initiates , the Visitors , and tho Officers of the Lodge were severally given and duly responded to , tho Tyler's toast bronght to a close a well spent and most enjoyable evening . We understand that Bro . G . Read will represent the Lodge at the Festival for the Girls' School , and we trust that this worthy brother , so well known in Masonry as a most able instructor , will not lack support in order to presont a good list on the occasion .
