the time of his death , ho was a member of Trenton Lodge-No . 5 , Three Times Three Chapter , and Palestine Commandery . Bro . Lenox had been a Master Mason seventy , one years and seven months , and a Knight Templar only a

month short of seventy-one years . The death is also recorded of Bro . Bierce , Past Grand Master of Masons in Ohio , at his residence , Akron , on the 11 th November . Bro . Bierce had reached the ripe age of seventy-five .

According to the Freemason ' s Repository the number of Royal Arch Masons in New Jersey is 2718 , divided among 35 subordinate Chapters . From the same magazine we learn that the expenditure for mileage and daily expenses of the members of the Grand Lodge of Illinois amounted

for the year ended in October 1876 to 13 , 955 . 60 dollars . The Grand Master receives for his services and expenses the sum of 2 , 000 dollars , and the Grand Secretary 2 , 500 dollars , together with his expenses . Tho total number of Lodges in the jurisdiction is 664 , and of these no less than

597 were represented at the last annual Communication in October . We are indebted to the same authority for the following facts relating to Freemasonry at Providence , R . L There are five Craft Lodges , with an aggregate membership of 1220 , What Cheer Lodge , with close on 500

members , heading the list as far as numbers are concerned . St . John ' s Lodge holds a charter given to it in 1757 by Bro . Jeremy Gridley , Prov . Grand Master of Massachusetts . Mount Vernon Lodge , likewise , dates it origin from the last century . Corinthian Lodge is barely nine

years old yet , while Adelp hi Lodge is just completing the first year of its existence . There is one Royal Arcb Chapter , with nearly 800 members , and in Cryptic Masonry one Council , numbering some two hundred members . Of Masonic Orders of Knighthood , there are two

Commanderies , of which St . John's was founded by Thomas Smith Webb , as far back as the year 1802 , and claims to be the oldest Templar Body in the United States . It has a membership of close npon 400 . Calvary Commandery was founded in 1860 , and numbers some 200 Knights . The Ancient and Accepted is likewise well reprerented .

We have , this week , to announce the decease of Bro . Richard Graves , an old Past Master of Lodge 263 . He was initiated in 1846 , passed the chair in 1849 , and continued a subscribing member until 1860 , when he fell into business difficulties , which resulted in his election to the

Royal Masonic Benevolent Annuity Fund three years ago . He was also a Mark Master , having entered the old Bon Accord Lodge in 1851 . Both he and his wife ( deceased some time before him ) were Life Governors of the Royal

Masonic Benevolent Institution , and subscribers to the Institutions for Boys and Girls . The immediate cause of his death ( supervening upon the advanced age of 75 ) was bronchitis . He was interred at Abney Park Cemetery , on the 24 th inst .

text of the resolution : — " We , brethren in Lodge assembled , beg to record our heartfelt regret at the unfortunate accident which has befallen our highly esteemed and respected brother , Sir Frederick M . Williams Bart ., M . P ., Provincial Grand Master of Cornwall , and express our sympathy with him ; and trust that , under the blessing of the Grand Overseer of the Universe , he may soon be

restored to full measure of health and strength . " The Secretary was requested to forward a copy to the Provincial Grand Master , After the Lodge waa closed , the brethren repaired to a room in the Hall premises , where au excellent spread was provided by Bro . Smith . After tho usual Loyal toasts , the health of the Provincial Grand Master , Bro . Sir Frederick M . Williams , was proposed—and

enthusiastically received . Bro . Lovell gave " The fine old English Gentleman . " Bro . G . B . Pearce replied , and remarked how ranch the expression of sympathy from the brethren would be appreciated by the P . G . Master . The Deputy P . G . Master and the rest of the officers was responded to by Bros . West and Harvey . The health of

the W . M . was proposed by Bro Eustice , in neat and eulogistic terms , and was heartily received by the brethren . In replying , the W . M . expressed his pleasure at seeing so many present . With the assistance of his officers , he hoped to seo the Lodge carried on with improved success . Other toasts followed , and an agreeable evening was spent .
