But one of the chief and most novel features is tho arrangement by which the pockets , when filled , project from tho wearer ' s person , so as not in any way to impede his movements when walking . THE PRINCE'S RINK COSTUME . "Mr : Benjamin , of Ulster House , Conduit-street , has introduced a new rinking costume , and named it after the London rink that takes the lead . It combines many qualities certain to render it a notable success . The material is soft tweed—West of England tweed ; it is devoid of ornament—and yet it is not plain ; for by an ingenious method of shrinking the cloth , and then tucking it , the jacket and lower part of the skirt are covered with tiny tucks run in tho cloth , and following the curves and lines of the figure . These tucks have a ridge-like effect , as though braid were standing in upright lines on the cloth ; but , to achieve this , many experiments and many failures havo been made before this remarkable success resulted . Tho suit consists of a narrow skirt with longitudinal tucks from the knees downwards , a square tunic ( to bo worn when not rinking ) , a closefitting jacket or basquo boddice tucked all over ; a pair of gaiters to the knee ; and a cap ; all of the same tweed as the costume . From tho difficulty of tucking the cloth so that the lines accord with the figure , this novelty will not become common , for the good reason that only first-rate material and highly-skilled workmanshi p can produce it .
