of which ho was tho Precept r . Bro . Wise finished by wishing the Terriers Lodge every prosperity , again thanking the Brethren for their kind reception . Bro . Holden Treasurer said he would be always pleased to do everything in his power to make the Terriers Lodge a great success , and assured the Brethren that he would take great caro of the funds .
Bro . Sinclair Secretary also thanked the W . M . , and Brethren , , and assured them that as long as they . were satisfied with him he would be satisfied . The work he did was a labour of love for Freemasonry , and he hoped the Brethren would attend in strong force each Wednesday . Other toasts followed and were suitably responded to .
This Lodge , being a professional one , it may be imaginod an excellent entertainment was provided , to add to ths enjoyment of tho meeting . Bro . F . Holdon Treasurer ( Manager of the Canterbury ) gave an excellent recitation , while the efforts of Bros . Cecil Merrie , Sinclair , Dryden , George Le Brunn , Shaw , Riley , and several others cannot he spoken too highly of . The Lodge was opened , and , after preliminaries , was advanced to the second degree , and then resumed to the first , when the W . M . intimated to the Brethren his intention of rehearsing the second ceremony , for which Bro . A . Jones offered himself as candidate . He was examined and entrusted , the Lodge re-opened in the second degree , and the ceremony of passing rehearsed in a most perfect and faultless manner .
Bro . Walter Martin proposed that Bro . H . Francis P . G . D . be elected an Honorary Member . This was seconded by the W . M ., and agreed to . In reply , Bro . Francis said he was very agreeably surprised that Bro . Martin had proposed him as an Honorary Member . He thanked him most sincerely for having done so , and also thanked the W . M . for having supported the
proposal in such an eloquent manner . The working he had witnessed that evening was perfect , and . he complimented the W . M . on his excellent knowledge of the ritual . He also complimented Bro . Walter Martin for his perfect instruction , and finished by thanking all for the compliment they had paid him .
Bro . Walter Martin P . M . A . G . Purs . Preceptor then rose and said he had a very pleasant duty to perform , which was to present to Bro . J . Almond P . M . and Secretary of the Lodge of Instruction a canteen of cutlery , which had been subscribed for by the majority of the Brethren of the Lodge on the
oscasion of Bro . Almond s marriage , and they hoped that Brother , as well as his wife , would be long spared in health and happiness to use the gift . It was given to Bro . Almond as a token of respect and esteem , hut particularly for , his services as Secretary of the Duke of Cornwall Lodge of Instruction , and bore the following inscription : —

Bro . Almond , on rising , was enthusiastically received . He said he was sure all would understand with what feelings he attempted to thank them . He had no idea such a handsome testimonial was in store for him as that Bro . Martin had presented in such eloquent terms . He could hardly find words sufficient to thank them , and was sure his wife would as highly appreciate the gift as he did . He asked to be excused saying any more , as his heart was too full . He could but again most sincerely thank them all .
Several letters were read from Brethren who were unable to attend , but congratulated Bro . Almond on the happy event with which the presentation was associated .
SYMPATHY LODGE , No . 483 . rj"UJE annual supper in connection with the Sympathy Lodge of Instruction _ l _ took placo on Monday , at the Star Hotel , Gravesend , when the greater part of the members met for the purpose of spending a social evening . After a substantial meal toasts and songs followed , and the utmost harmony prevailed .
During the evening the Secretary Bro . Ernest Ingman announced that they now had a total of sixty-seven members , sixteen of whom joined during the year , and the average attendance was very good . The Benevolent Association had been of great value to the Masonic Charities , no less than £ 94 10 s being handed over during the past year . This was a good record but he hoped in the future it would be surpassed . '
