REPORTS OF MEETINGS .
We shall be pleased to receive particulars of Masonic meetings for insertion in our columns , and where desired will endeavour to send a representative to report Lodge or other proceedings .
NEW CONCORD LODGE , No . 813 . ON Thursday , the 18 th inst ., a most successful meeting took place at the Guildhall Tavern , Gresham Street , E . C . Present : Bro . John Ingram Moar W . M ., G . Simpson S . W .. R . Clark J . W , H . J . Gabb P . M . Treasurer , A . J . Potter P . M . Secretary , Rev . C . J . Stevens Chaplain , J . Lewen S . D .,

Amongst the Visitors were Captain A . Schlosshauer , Percy LeithP . G . D ., C . H . Denny I . P . M . 1671 , R . Robinson 1366 , A . H . Wilson 177 , J . Wynman , and others . The Lodge was opened in due form and the minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed . The Lodge was opened . in the second degree , and Bro . Bernstein having shown his proficiency as a Fellow Craft was examined and entrusted .
The Lodge was advanced to the third degree and Bro . Bernstein was raised as a Master Mason . The Lodge was resumed to the first degree , when Messrs . James Charles Smellie and Charles James Garrett were presented as candidates , the ballot on their behalf having proved unanimous in their favour . They were then regularly initiated into the mysteries of ancient Freemasonry . This , and the former ceremony , we have seldom heard delivered in a more perfect or impressive manner .
The suggestion of having a ball and banquet in January next was unanimously agreed to , and after a few communications had been brought before the Lodge , and very hearty good wishes tendered by the Brethren , the Lodge was closed , and the Brethren retired to the banqueting room , where an excellent supper was provided under the personal snpervision of Bro . T . W . Terry , the manager of the establishment , whilst Bro . J . Marcham , the bead waiter , gave great assistance in looking ofter the comfort of the Brethren .
After the Loyal toasts , Bro . H . D . Blake I . P . M . rose with the greatest of pleasure to compliment the W . M . on his excellent working , which was alike beautiful and faultless . He wished him every success during the remainder '; of his term in the chair , which sentiment the Brethren endorsed with a good Masonic fire . The W . M . most sincerely thanked the proposer of the toast for his kind remarks , and the Brethren for receiving the toast in such a cordial manner . The New Concord Lodge was one of the highest standing , and its working was well-known . They must endeavour to keep up its good reputation .
The W . M . had veiy much pleasure in giving the toast of the Initiates , saying that no Lodge could flourish without such . He felt their new members would make excellent Brother Masons , and would become a credit to the New Concord Lodge . Bro . Garrett , in reply , said that he was not a bold man , but the excellent and kind manner in which he had been received put confidence in him . Ho most sincerely thanked the W . M . and Brethren for having accepted him as a Brother amongst them .
Bro . Smellie was rather at a loss what to say after the beautiful speech of his Brother Initiate , but he was sincerely thankful to be received in the Lodge , among such excellent Masons . He was sure he ought to be proud to have been accepted a Brother amongst them , and sincerely thanked all for the confidence they had put in him . The W . M . said tibe next toast on the programme was that of the Visitors . The New Concord Lodge was always pleased to see guests , and they would always receive a hearty welcome .
Bro . Leith P . G . D ., in reply , said be considered he was not a Visitor , but rather more than a member , through their kind hospitality . He thanked all for the very kind reception they had given him . Bro . Denny said he had that evening enjoyed a great Masonic treat . The W . M . had carried out the work to perfection . Ho and the W . Bf . had worked together on several occasion at the Instruction Lodges , and he was delighted to see him in his proud position as W . M . He was not surprised to hear him give the ritual in such a truly Masonic manner . Other Visitors also acknowledged the compliments paid them .
The Charity Box was handed round , and the W . M . bad very much pleasure in saying that a nice little amount had been collected to add to the sum already in hand of over £ 200 . The Past Masters toast was given from , the chair , the W . M . saying that '' he would never forget that Bro . Potter Secretary helped him to take the chair as W . M . He willingly accepted , and after the ceremonies had had
the gratification of being complimented , but it was only through Bro . Potter , who had helped him a great deal in his studies and work . Bro . Potter was the backbone of the Lodge , in connection with which he did not understand the word trouble ; whatever was required of him he carried out with pure Brotherly love . Bro . Gabb their Treasurer was also one of the very best , and they felt they could not do without him . Bros . Blake and Ockelfield were also known as able and kind Past Masters .
Bro . Gabb P . M . Treasurer thanked the W . M . for his kind remarks , and felt very much flattered . He hoped that those flattering words would not make him feel vain . It was twenty-eight years since he was initiated , and if he told his father , who was also an old Mason , he was sure he would be pleased to hear that his son occupied the position he did in their Lodge . Whatever he could do for the welfare of the Lodge he should be pleased to undertake .
The Secretary also mnde suitable response . Bro . Blake I . P . M . tbankrd the W . M . for proposing his health in such kind terms , and the Brethren for receiving it in such a cordial manner . Ha should be happy to give every assistance that was required of him . Bro . Past Master Ockleford said he should like to see some of the young P . Ms , more often , as they could not expect the old ones always there . He complimented tho W . M . on his excellent working .

The next toast was that of tho Chaplain , Wardens , and other Officers , to which each one suitably responded . Shortly afterwards the Tyler's toast brought the proceedings and a very pleasant evening to a termination .
EARL OF CARNARVON LODGE , No . 1642 . THE installation meeting of this important Lodge was held on Thursday , 11 th inst ., at Ladbroke Hall , Netting Hill , W ., Bro . H . Foskett W . M . The minutes of the last Lodge meeting were read and confirmed . Tho ballot -was then , taken to admit as a Joining Member Bro . William Aitken McLeod , M . D ., of St . John Lodge , No . 22 , Scotland , and Bro . Dr . McLeod returned thanks .
The report of the Audit Committee was read by the senior Auditor , who congratulated the Lodge ou its present sound financial condition . The report was received and adopted by the Lodge with great satisfaction . Bro . S . H . Parkhouse P . M . Treasurer gave notice of motion that the sum of £ 40 should bo given by the Lodge at the Centenary Festival of the Bovs School .
Bro . Secretary proposed , and Bro . Treasurer seconded , that a vote of thanks should be given to Bro . Ransom I . G ., for his handsome gift of a table for the use of the Secretary . Bro . Ransom acknowledged the honour conferred on him .
The Secretary informed the W . M . that he had received a note from the Dean and Chapter of St . Paul's Cathedral , inviting members of the Lodge to attend at a Masonic Service at St . Paul's , on 2 nd prox . It was agreed unanimously that the consideration of this important subject should be deferred .
Bro . Treasurer presented to the Installing Master ( Bro . H . Foskett ) the W . M .-elect Bro . John French S . VV ., to receive at his hands the benefit of installation , and in a deliberate , impressive manner he was installed in the chair of K . S . and saluted in due form by the numerous array of Past Masters of the Lodge , and by those Visitors who were Past Masters . The Board of
Installed Masters was then closed , and under the able guidance of Bro . E . M . Lander D . C . the W . M . was saluted by the Brethren in the three Degrees . A word or two of commendation must be deservedly given to the D . C , who performed his important duties in an admirable way ; the ceremony went with the precision of clock work . The worthy Brother has held his important office for sixteen years successively , and has therefore a ripe experience .
In due course the Lodge was closed and the Brethren adjourned to the banquet , after which the Loyal toasts were given from the chair . Bro . Dr . Pocock A . G . D . C . and Bro . Smith of the Grand Lodge of Scottish Masons in India responded to the toast of the Grand Officers , in an impressive manner .
Then came the important toast of the evening , the W . M ., proposed by the I . P . M ., who , in a coucise but telling speech , traced the Masonic career of the new ruler , reminding the Brethren that step by step he had , in faithful discharge of his duties , attained the height of his laudable ambition , that of
W . M . of his mother Lodge , a strong incentive to every Mason to follow in his footsteps , and achieve in due time bis elevated position . He was sure the Brethren would agree with him that their present W : M . had endeared himself to one and ail of the Brethren , and he felt confident they would rally round and support him in the important duties of his high office .
It need hardly be said that this toast was received with full Masonic honours , and , in reply , the W . M . said he was deeply touched with the spontaneous loyalty of the Brethren of the Earl of Carnarvon Lodge . His great aim during his year of office would bo to prove that their confidence had not been misplaced , and that they were justified in committing the interests of the Lodge to his care .
Bro . E . Rogers P . M . gave the toast of the Visitors , saying that the Earl of Carnarvon always extended a fraternal welcome to Visiting Brethren , in fact , the Lodge was renowned for its hospitality . Bros . F . L . Chandler P . P . G . P . Surrey , Hutton , Dyer , and others responded .
The W . M . gave the Joining and Junior Member of the Lodge Dr . McLeod , stating how pleased the Brethren were to admit him amongst them , and the toast was acknowledged . The toast of the I . P . M . followed , proposed gracefully hy the W . M . He said that Bro . Foskett and he had been true Masonic comrades ; that he had watched with great interest the efficiency of the I . P . M . during the year he had occupied the chair he had now the honour of filling , and how he hoped
to profit by the practical lessons he had received from the I . P . M . As a tangible proof of the good service he had rendered as W . M ., and of the universal esteem in which he was held by the Brethren , tho handsome Past Master ' s jewel which he had the honour and pleasure of affixing to the breast of the I . P . M . was ample evidence . He wished his distinguished Brother many years to wear the tribute awarded to him by the Lodge . When the applause had subsided , the I . P . M . briefly responded , saying how grateful he was to the Brethren for the honour they had conferred on him .
The next toast was the Treasurer and Secretary . The W . M . said how much he relied upon them and appreciated the valuable services they would render him . The Treasurer and Secretary responded , and other toasts were given .
CHOUGH LODGE , No . 2264 . THE second meeting of this Lodge since tbo installation of Bro . William Vincent Jull was held on Thursday , at the City Terminus Hotel , Cannon Street , when tho W . M . was supported by Bros . J . R . Porcivall . P . M ., H . Saqui S . W ., J . Almond J . W ., E . T . Edwards P . M . Treasurer , J . ' W . Dewsnap P . M . Secretary , Walter Martin P . M . Grand Assist . Purs ., Smith P . M ., W . B , Marcus P . M ., A . Hayncs S . D ., C . Frohlick J . D ., Iugle D . C ,

John Belli , who was inifciatpd at the last meeting , was examined , entrusted , and passed to the degree of Fellow Craft , the ceremony being reiidcrod iu a most perfect mauncr , the W . M . showing his capabilities to perfection . The W . M . resumed the Lodge to the first degree and a gentleman was proposed for initiation at the next meeting .
