RECENT CONCERTS .
Jnpiter Pluvina haa been too terribly in earnest during the past fortnight , even for those most enthusiastic in the cause of music . Moreover , the regular duties of business must always take precedence of what we must define as " pleasurable dnties . " Saturday last , for instance , was a day on which the element of water—in the shape of rain—especially diatinguiahed itself , but we manfully braved the
whole force of thia elemant and turned np incontinently at Southplace Institute , South-place , Moorgate-street . Bro . Seymour Smith , who haa so often enlivened Masonic audiences by his varied entertainments , had arranged to hold hia annual concert , and where—on hia account we rejoice—a strong Masonic representative audience had assembled for the purpose of paving this tribute of respect to
the worthy beneficiary . A most admirable programme had been prepared , in which many well-known artistes took part , and the result must be described as a success in all respects worthy of Bro . Seymour Smith's claims to recognition by the Craft . Thursday was fixed for the seventeenth annual concert of Bro . G . S . Graham , with whom likewise the Craft is familiar as a contributor
on many occasions to the more convivial pleasures of Lodge and occasional gatherings . He , too , had an admirable programme , and a strong artistic force to support him , and , aa in the case just noted , a triumph worthy of the occasion and of the beneficiary was achieved . Weather notwithstanding , Bro . Graham had reason to be satisfied with the loyalty of his friends and patrons .
