He svas a gentleman of high attainments , antl had only recently been promoted from the British embassy at Hanover to that of Vienna . He svas the only son of the late Gervase Bushe , Esq ., of Kilkenny , Ireland , and nephesv to the Countess Dowager of Listosvel ; he svas also cousin-german to the late Countess of Durham . Previous to his departure for Hanover he svas private secretary to the lamented Earl of Durham , the late Pro-Grand Alaster of England , who
felt desirous that he should become acquainted svith the " ordo negotii " of English Freemasonry , and selected the Burlington Lodge for his debut on the metropolitan arena . Bro . Bushe , accordingly , became a member , and although but a young Alason at the time , his occasional addresses gave much promise ; his appointment to the embassy hosvever led to his resignation .
