CHESTER , Dec . 29 . —The Brethren of the Cestrian Lodge assembled at tbe Royal Hotel , and celebrated , svith all the ancient rites and ceremonies appertaining to the mystic Craft , the festival of St . John the Evangelist . The presence of the Right Hon . Viscount Combermere , tlie 1 rov . Grantl Master , svho lias for several years past made a point of honouring the worthy " Cestrians" svith a visit at this festival , generally attracts a considerable muster of the Brethren , as svell from the province of Chester from the nei
as ghbouring districts of Wales and Lancashire . Van « hton , of Whitchurch , ancl related , sve believe , to Sir Henry DymoTce Grand Champion of England , preparatory to his leaving England to join bis regiment abroad .
Ihe principal feature of the meeting svas , hosvever , the installation of the Master-Elect for the ensuing year , and Bro . T . A . Yarrow svas accordingly investett svith the distinctive badge of that high office , and received the Alasonic homage ofthe Brethren present . On the cloth being withdrasvn , the doovs were tyled , and the festivities proceeded in true Alasonic style , all the toasts being drunk svith the honours peculiar to the ancient Fraternity . ghbouring provinces , sat dosvn to an excellent banquet , under the presidency of Brother Wace , the nesv Alaster . The evening svas passed with chastened hilarity and delightful interchange of the sociat and friendl y relations . Brother Wace sustained the duties of the chair svith much credit . The subject of a Grand Lodge for this province svas brought forward , and responded to by several of the Brethren present . We sincerely hope this desideratum svill not be lost sight of .
