THE SECOND ANNUAL SUPPER OF THE ST . MICHAEL'S LODGE OF INSTRUCTION , No . 211 .

On Monday , the 22 nd ultimo , the second annual supper of the above lodge took place at the Norland Arms , Addison-road , N . W ., Bro . G . Cockerell , W . M . of thc mother lodge , occupying the chair .

The lodge was openeel and the minutes read and confirmed , and immediatel y after lodge was closed , and the brethren sat down to an excellent supper , prepared in Bro . Copley ' s best style , in whose house the weekl y meetings of the lodge take place . The usual loyal toasts were honoured , anel several of the brethren contributed to the harmony during the

intervals on the toast list , the piano being presided over by Bro . Louis Lee . The indefatigable Preceptor of the lodge , Bro . G . E . HIUIIINSON , P . M . 1791 , gave a very interesting account uf the progress that the loelge has made during its short career . The popular W . M ., Bro . G . COCKKKM ., stated that

he was very proud of his list which he should present at the Festival of the Royal Alasonic I nstitution for Girls the greater part of which had been given to him by the members ol the Benevolent Association in connection witb the lodge of instruction . The SKCKKTAKV , in replying to the toast of " The Quill-driver , " stated that the lodge had collected no less . 1 sum than £ 100 14 s . 2 d . during its existence ,

which sum had gone to the Masonic Charities . Thirty-eight brethren supported the W . M . on this occasion , aud it was agreed by all present that the mother lodge , which , by the way , celebrates its centenary this coming autumn , might well be proud of its offspring , which is doing so much good in the cause of Charity , and in making Masons proficient in the ritual in the West-end of London .

BRO . J . R . STACEY . It is with deep regret that we have to announce the death of our esteemed Bro . Jonathan R . Stacey , who died on the 29 th ult . at his residence in Brixton-road . Bro . Stacey was well known in the newspaper world , and for upwards of 40 years was commercial manager of the Morning Advertiser newspaper , where his

services Wire much appreciated . He was at an early age initiated into FYeemasonry in the St . James' Union Loelge , No . 180 , and was afterwards a Past Master of that lodge and P . Z . of the chapter . He was also one of the founders of the Strand Lodge , No . 1987 , also of thc Alexandra Palace Lodge , No . 1541 , and became Past Master of both these lodges . He was for nearl y

20 years Preceptor of the well-known Metropolitan Lodgeof Instruction , No . 1541 , held at the Portugal Hotel , F'leet-street , E . C , and had also been Preceptor of thc St . James' Union , the Constitutional , and the Alexandra Palace Lodges of Instruction , and was most indclatigable in giving instruction in the ritual of Freemasonry , and his fame as an instructor was

carried by the numerous members of his lodges of instruction 10 all parts of the world . On his retirement from Freemasonry about 12 months since , he was presented by the members of his various lodges and other friends wilh an elegant service of plate , with an appropriate inscription as to his valued services . 'The

interment took place at Norwood Cemetery , and representatives of the Morning Advertisir newspaper , and of the several lodges and lodges of instruction with which he was connected , as well as many private friends , altended to pay their last sad tribute of respect .
