Prince Albert Victor of Wales left Marlborough House on Monday in order to resume duty with his regiment the ioth ( Prince of Wales ' s own Royal ) Hussars at Aldershot . The Queen through Sir Henry Ponsonby has expressed her intention of extending her patronage to the Peoples' Palace in London , and will contribute £ 200 to the fund that is being raised to carry out the scheme .

The St . Omer Commandery , K . T ., of Boston , Mass ., visited the Portland Commandery , of Portland-on-Maine , on the Gth ult . The day passed off satisfactorily , and the former having presented an elegant testimonial to the Portland Sir Kni g hts , in recognition of the courtesies they had received on their recent journey through Portland , en route toe St . John , returned to their own quarters in due course .

Bro . Sir E . Watkin , Bart ., M . P ., presided at the 99 th half-yearly meeting of the proprietors of the South Eastern Railway , and moved the adoption of the report submitted by the Directors . Bro . Lord Brabourne seconded the motion , and after some discussion , it was agreed to . Special meetings were subsequently held to consider Parliametary Bills affecting the Company .

T he annual ball of the Lodge Kelso , No . 58 , took place on Wednesday evening , the 27 th ult ., in the Foresters' Hall , Kelso , Scotland , when there was a large turn out of brethren and their fiiends , upwards of fifty couples taking part in the opening Masonic March and Triumph , which was led off by the R . W . M ., Bro . James McDougall and Miss Steel , the other brethren following

according to their Masonic rank . Dancing began at halfpast nine , and was kept up with great spirit till four a . m . to the inspiring strains of Bro . Rees ;\ Beckett Evans ' quadrille band . During the interval which occurred in the middle of the programme , Bro . James Steel , P . M ., the enthusiastic father of thc lodge , organised what he termed a "bull reel , " or a reel in which none but males were to

take part , and soon he had sixteen couples of brethren dancing and "haughin" with celerity and vigour , himself one of the liveliest . There were present , deputations from Coldstream , 2 S 0 j Galashiels , 262 j Langholm , 107 j and Selkirk , 22 j and everyone expressed his pleasure at being present . The hall vvas beautifully decorated with Masonic emblems , flags , floral devices , and mottoes , under the

superintendence of Bro . R . B . Hogarth , architect to the lodge . Bro . VV . R . Plummer , J . VV ., ably officiated as M . C ., and the purveying of Bro . Knight , Steward , gave every satisfaction . Not a little of the success of this assembly , the best ever held under the auspices ol No . 58 , is due to the unwearied and ungrudging labours and exertions of Bro . John Robertson , the indefatigable Secretary of the lodge .

To-morrow ( Saturday ) , the stained glass window which Bro . the Duke of Connaught has had placed in Bagshot Church , to the memory of Bro . the late Duke of Albany , will be unveiled by his Royal Highness , in the presence , as is expected , of several members of the Royal Family . The ceremony has been arranged to take place at 3 , 30 p . m ., and and address will be delivered by the Very Rev . the Dean of Windsor .

Stewart next proposed "The Health of Mrs . 1 * . H . Miller , " wife of the host . Altogether a very pleasant evening was spent , and we congratulate Bro . Miller on the success of the entertainment .

BRO . TAUTE'S "BIBLIOGRAPHY . " Subscribers to Bro . Taute ' s " Bibliography " will be glad to hear that the concluding part is progressing rapidly , and that Bro . J . G . Findel , of Leipzig , the publisher , anticipates its being ready for delivery about the middle of this

month . Although this work will contain a large number of English Masonic books , a complete bibliography , supplemental to Kioss , 1 S 44 , is much wanted ; but as it would involve so much labour and expense , we fear that we shall have to wait a long time for its advent .

The St . Omer Commandery , K . T ., of Boston , Mass ., visited the Portland Commandery , of Portland-on-Maine , on the Gth ult . The day passed off satisfactorily , and the former having presented an elegant testimonial to the Portland Sir Kni g hts , in recognition of the courtesies they had received on their recent journey through Portland , en route toe St . John , returned to their own quarters in due course .

Bro . Sir E . Watkin , Bart ., M . P ., presided at the 99 th half-yearly meeting of the proprietors of the South Eastern Railway , and moved the adoption of the report submitted by the Directors . Bro . Lord Brabourne seconded the motion , and after some discussion , it was agreed to . Special meetings were subsequently held to consider Parliametary Bills affecting the Company .

T he annual ball of the Lodge Kelso , No . 58 , took place on Wednesday evening , the 27 th ult ., in the Foresters' Hall , Kelso , Scotland , when there was a large turn out of brethren and their fiiends , upwards of fifty couples taking part in the opening Masonic March and Triumph , which was led off by the R . W . M ., Bro . James McDougall and Miss Steel , the other brethren following

according to their Masonic rank . Dancing began at halfpast nine , and was kept up with great spirit till four a . m . to the inspiring strains of Bro . Rees ;\ Beckett Evans ' quadrille band . During the interval which occurred in the middle of the programme , Bro . James Steel , P . M ., the enthusiastic father of thc lodge , organised what he termed a "bull reel , " or a reel in which none but males were to

take part , and soon he had sixteen couples of brethren dancing and "haughin" with celerity and vigour , himself one of the liveliest . There were present , deputations from Coldstream , 2 S 0 j Galashiels , 262 j Langholm , 107 j and Selkirk , 22 j and everyone expressed his pleasure at being present . The hall vvas beautifully decorated with Masonic emblems , flags , floral devices , and mottoes , under the

superintendence of Bro . R . B . Hogarth , architect to the lodge . Bro . VV . R . Plummer , J . VV ., ably officiated as M . C ., and the purveying of Bro . Knight , Steward , gave every satisfaction . Not a little of the success of this assembly , the best ever held under the auspices ol No . 58 , is due to the unwearied and ungrudging labours and exertions of Bro . John Robertson , the indefatigable Secretary of the lodge .

BRO . TAUTE'S "BIBLIOGRAPHY . " Subscribers to Bro . Taute ' s " Bibliography " will be glad to hear that the concluding part is progressing rapidly , and that Bro . J . G . Findel , of Leipzig , the publisher , anticipates its being ready for delivery about the middle of this

month . Although this work will contain a large number of English Masonic books , a complete bibliography , supplemental to Kioss , 1 S 44 , is much wanted ; but as it would involve so much labour and expense , we fear that we shall have to wait a long time for its advent .
