The Worshipful Master accompanied each investiture with a few hopeful and encouraging remarks relative tothe duties appertaining to the different offices . The usual addresses to the Master , Wardens , and brethren were then delivered in a most eloquent manner by Bro . Gunnel ! , eliciting hearty approval from all present . After some further business , including the Auditors '

( Bros . James Bussey and F . J . Proctor ) report , thc lodge closed in harmony , and the brethren and visitors adjourned to the banquet hall of the club , where a sumptuous banquet vvas served in capital style by Bro . Edward Pearce , House Steward of the club , and during the evening thc usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly given and honoured . After "The Queen and the Craft" had been warmly

received , the VV . M . gave "The M . W . G . M ., H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , " who had endeared himself to the honourable Fraternity throughout the country for his zeal and the thoroughness with which he at all times had continued to work for the Craft in general , of which body he was so distinguished a leader and guide . "The M . VV . Pro G . M ., the Earl of Carnarvon ; the

R . W . Deputy G . M ., thc Earl of Lathom ; and Officers of Grand Lodge , Present and Past , " was the next toast from the chair , and enthusiastically received . The next toast was "The R . VV . the P . G . M ., Bro . VV . VV . B . Beach , M . P ., of Hampshire and Isle of Wight ; the V . W . the D . P . G . M ., Bro . J . E . Le Feuvre ; and Officers of P . G . Lodge , Present and Past . " The VV . M .

remarked that the sterling qualities of the P . G . M . and his worthy Deputy were well known thooughout the province for their ability and the earnestness they threw into the work of the province . Their ready and capable manner when called upon to discharge any of the many duties that fell to the lot of the P . G . M . or his Deputy met with the hearty approval of the brethren who served under such gentlemen

and brilliant Freemasons . The toast was warmly received , and with it was coupled the name of the Prov . G . Secretary of Hants and Isle of Wight , Bro . E . Goble , P . M . 309 , who , in reply , heartily endorsed all the encomiums that had been passed on the P . G . M . and his Deputy , and gave evidence of the energetic , warm , and careful management of the province in

the hands of such genial gentlemen and thorough Freemasons , and testified to their readiness and ability at all times to further the cause of our noble Fraternity , calling especial attention to the fact of the Royal Sussex being honoured by having two such important posts as the P . G . Treas ., Bro . R . J . Rastrick , and P . G . Supt . of Works , Bro . VV . Gunnell , held by members of that lodge , and

concluded by urging upon the brethren to perfect themselves in the detail of the work of the province , feeling sure that they would be repaid by perusal of thc recognised organ of communication . The W . M . then entrusted Bro . Gunnell , the I . P . M ., with the gavel , and , in proposing "The Health of the VV . M . " said it had been a great pleasure to him to instal

Bro . Sanders , as it would be within the memory of most of those present of thc brotherly and courteous conduct last year of their present VV . M . to give way for his ( Bro . Gunnell ' s ) elevation to thc chair , and serve again in the west under his command . He felt sure that the honour and integrity of the lodge would suffer no diminution in his capable hands , and asked the brethren to drink long life and

happiness the VV . M . Bro . Sanders , who on rising was most heartily received , said that there were times in the history of one's self when it was somewhat a difficult matter to speak coherently , and while he felt it his duty at such a time to issue what maybe described as his official programme for the year , at such a time as the present the softer emotions of thankfulness at

the kind manner the I . P . M . had so warmly g iven , and the brethren so cordially received , prevented this to some extent j but he would be wanting in courtesy and kindly feeling if he failed at once to thank the brethren most heartily for the great honour they had conferred upon him in placing in his hands the conduct of so old and highly esteemed a Iodge as the Royal Sussex . Many W . M . ' s who had

occupied the chair he had now the pleasure to fill had expressed the desire to further the interests and material welfare of the lodges they represented , and honed for successful years , in the which the care reposed in them would have been found not to have been misplaced , and he , with those who had preceded him , also hoped and mingled his ardent desire with theirs , that the warrant

M ., and having subscribed to the ancient charges and regulations , all the brethren below the rank of an Installed Master retired , and a Board of Installed Masters formed , at which there were 30 present . impressively installed into the chair of K . S . with all the usual rites and ceremonies by the retiring VVorshipful Master , Bro . W . Gunnel ! , P . G . Supt . of Works Hants and the Isle of Wight . The brethren were then summoned , and the Installing Master invited them to greet their newlyinstalled Master wilh the customary honours from the timehonoured points . The W .
