James Coward , P . G . O ., appears in last week ' s Norwood Review and Crystal Palace Reporter , " which we hope to transfer to our own columns next week , adding any facts which we may be

able to glCan of his Masonic career . A pleasing episode in the municipal year took place in the Royal Pavilion , Brighton , in the shape of a complimentary banquet to the Mayor ( Bro . Alderman Davey ) , at which his worship was presented with a silver salver and an elegant service of silver plate , including dinner , tea , and coffee services , of tbe value of over £ 300 ,

together with a purse of £ 275 , as a mark of recognition of the manner in which he discharged his duties as chief magistrate of the town during the year 1878-9 . The testimonial was accompanied by an illuminated address , setting forth thc subscribers' high appreciation of his worship ' s " impartial , zealous , and earnest" qualities as a Mayor , and was handed over by the senior alderman

next to the chair , In the presence of the borough and county members , the town council , and many of the subscribers .
