The lodge having been raised to the Second Degree , Bro . J . Doolcy was presented to

the W . M . as the W . M . elect for the ensuing year . The W . M , then addressed Bro . Dooley , and the Secretary put the usual questions from the Book of Constitutions . The lodge was then raised to the Third Degree , and a Board of Past Masters was formed , when Bro . J . Wild installed Bro . J . Dooley into thc chair ol K . S . On the re-admission of the M . M . ' s ., the usual proclamation was made to them by

the Installing Master , who having called upon them to salute their new W . M ., which was done , Bro . Wild proceeded to invest the brethren who were appointed as officers for the ensuing year . Too much praise cannot be given to Bro . Wild ( who is a P . M . of this lodge ) for the able manner in which he couducted the ceremonies , and we cannot sufficiently congratulate the lodge which has such a

talented array of Past Masters . Before the proceedings closed Bro . Robt . Horridge received his Past Master ' s jewel , the gift of the lodge , and Councillor Bro . Nicholson , P . M ., presented Bro . Henry Ainsworth , P . M ., with a lodge jewel for his uniform urbanity and kindness , and for thc assistance he always renders to newly-installed Worshipful Mastersand tbe lodge generally . After the usual " Hearty

good wishes" from the visiting brethren , the proceedings were brought to a close , and the cloth was laid for a most recherche ) banquet supplied by the obliging hostess , Mrs . Long . After the cloth was drawn the evening was devoted to harmony and good-fellowship . The usual loyal and

Masonic toasts haung been given , and the brethren enlivened by the singing of Bros . Rigby , Kershaw , Tayler , and Hilton , a most enjoyable evening was closed at eleven p . m . Wc may add that thc usual Masonic Charities were subscribed to , and , considering thc late stagnation in trade , most heartily .

GUERNSEY . —Loyalty Lodge ( No . 243 ) . — The annual installation of the above lodge was held on Wednesday , the 21 st ult ., at the Masonic Hall , Court Place , when , in thc presence of twelve Past Masters and about forty brethren , Bro . E . M . Lc Huray was installed W . M . for thc ensuing year by Bro . W . Helman in a most

impressive manner . Bro . Le Huray afterwards invested his officers as follows : —Bros . Helman , I . P . M . ; J . S . Sncath , S . W . ; J . H . Parsons , J . W . ; W . Huxtcr , S . ceremony . LEWES . —South Saxon Lodge ( No . 311 ) . — The annual installation meeting of this lodge was held at the Freemasons' Hall on Wednesday , the 21 st ult . There was a large attendance . Bro . George Stone was installed as W . M ., the ceremony being very efficiently performed by Bro . S . Tanner , who retired trom the chair , and was

LIVERPOOL . —Alliance Lodge ( No . 667 ) . — The annual installation meeting of this " crack" lodge at the Masonic Hall , Hope-street , was perhaps the most brilliantly successful of any which has been held for a very long time . Bro . G . Willings , P . M ., was thc Installing Master , and the ceremony of placing Bro . John H . Gregory in thc W . M . ' s chair was performed by him with an

amount of imprcssiveness which elicited the admiration of a gathering which was perhaps the most thoroughly representative of any which has been held in this district for a considerable time . After thc lodge was opened in due form and the minutes read and confirmed , a letter was read from thc candidate for initiation , stating that owing to a long standing engagement , which had been unfortunately recently fixed for this day , he was unable to be present ; a ballot was , however , taken , and declared unanimously in his favour . Litters were also read from Bro . C . R . Davy , P . G . C ., the Chaplain of this

lodge , excusing his absence on urgent private business , and from Bro . Frank Millman , the Secretary , excusing his absence on thc ground of illness . Thc usual lodge subscription was voted to the Aged : masons and Widows'Institution . The W . M . 1 •¦ .: two gentlemen for initiation at the next lodge . Tl . c lodge was then closed in due form , and the brethren retired to supper , and spent the evening in thc quiet and social manner which is usual in this little country lodge .

I he large room at the afar was beautifully decorated for the occasion w ' . th flags , banners , evergreens , bayonet stars , and choice plants ; also several handsome Masonic emblems specially painted by Bro . Cave . The attendance of the Gospott Masonic choir , under ( he direction of liro . S . W . Misselbrook , greatly added to the effect of the working , which was goud throughout . The brethren , to the

number of over lorty , having adjourned to the Indian Arms , sat down to a splendid banquet , prepared by Miss Eastland . After grace by the choir , the loyal toa-ts were briefly given from thc chair . Bro . A . Cudlipp , P . M . ( Mayor of Portsmouth ) , \ iroposed "The P 10 G . M . and Officers of Grand Lodge , " and referred in high terms to those officers .

TWICKENHAM . —Era Lodge ( No . 1423 ) .-An emergency meeting of this lodge was held at the Al- ' bany Hotel on thc 24 th ult . Among those present were , Bros . Devereaux , W . M . ; Loos , S . W . ; Falconer , LW . ; J . T . Moss , P . P . G . R . of Middx ., acting I . P . M . ; J . VV . Baldwin , P . P . G . P . Middx ., acting S . D . and Treas . ;| Wright , Sec ; He man , acting I . G . ; Thicllay , P . P . G . S . B .

Middx ., P . M . The visitors were Bros . Grey , Eclectic , awli T . C Walls , P . G . S . B . Middx . ( Freemason ) . In consesequence of thc lamented demise of Bro . Sabine , P . G . VV . of the Province , the furniture , & c , of the lodge was draped , and the whole of the brethren appeared in Masonic mourning . The melancholy token of respect in memory of Bro . Sabine will appear for some time to come in the Middlesex

lodges , as the R . W . P . G . M ., Bro . Colonel Burdett , has issued an order to that effect . The proceedings commenced by the ballot being taken for Bro . C H . Glover , No . 1334 , as a joining member , and for Mr . F . H . T . Block , as initiate , and it proving to be unanimous in their favour , thc latter gentleman was initiated into Craft mysteries by Bro . Moss , P . M . This concession being granted by thc W . M .

at Bro . Moss's special request . The W . M . having resumed the chair , impressively passed Bro . Jenkins as a F . C ., and raised Bro . B . Squire to the Degree of M . M ., ably assisted by his officers . A vote of condolence having been unanimously passed to the widow of the late Bro . Sabine , who was one of the founders and a Past Master of this lodge , and several propositions having been handed in , the lodge

was duly and formally closed , and thc brethren adjourned to the banquet , which was ably catered for by Bro . Bayliss . Upon the removal of the cloth , the W . M . said that , as it was merely an emergency meeting , the usual Masonic toasts would be necessarily curtailed , and , as far he was concerned , they would be but briefly prefaced . " The Queen and the Craft" and "Thc M . W . G . M . " having

been given , Bro . J . 1 . Moss , P . M ., arose , and proposed in a very flattering manner " The Health of the W . M . " In the course of a very humorous speech , he congratulated the lodge upon the manner in which its duties had been discharged by Bro . Devereaux throughout thc whole of a very arduous year of office . In addition to possessing Masonic qualities of a high character , their W . M . was

gifted with those genial and social attributes which charmed all those who were brought into contact with him . In conclusion , he said that upon his ( the W . M . 's ) approaching retirement he would carry with him the entire thanks and good wishes of his brethren of thc Era Lodge . This toast having been received with excellent " fire , " the W . M . replied in a neat and modest speech . The W . M . then gave

in appropriate terms "Thc Health of the Initiate , " and this pledge having been duly honoured , Bro . Block briefly acknowledged the compliment . " The Visitors " followed . In proposing this toast , the W . M . indulged in some vety cordial and nattering expressions . Bros . Grey and Walls

having briefly responded , " The Health of the Officers " followed , and this toast having been acknowledged by Bros . Loos , S . W ., and Baldwin , Treasurer . The Tyler was called upon to discharge his duty , and the proceedings terminated . Iluring thc evening several of the brethren contributed some very excellent vocal and other selections .

LIVERPOOL . —Dramatic Lodge ( No . 1609 ) . Bro . Mackenzie , W . M ., presided at the monthly meeting of this lodge , held at the Masonic Hall , on Tuesday , the 20 th ult ., and he was supported by Bros . W . J . Chapman , P . M ., M . C ; Joseph Bell , P . G . J . D . ; VV . Sandbrook , S . W . ; J . Atkinson , J . W . ; A . Woolrich , Treasurer ; F . Wilkinson , Secretary ; Frank Emery , S . D . ; J . I'yer , J . D . ; R . Burgess , Organist ; W .

Savage , I . G . ; II . P . Squire , S . S . ; C . Courtenay , J . S . ; and VV . II . Ball , Tyler . There were between seventy anil eighty brethren present , including a very large number of " professionals . " After being duly elected , Messrs . Arthur Ricketts , Harry Fischer , J . J . Monk , A . H . Harold , and A . W . McCall ( A . Webb ) , were initiated into the Order , and Bros . Fineberg and Graham were passed to the Second Degree . The large company afterwards dined together , and a most pleas int evening was spent .

amount of imprcssiveness which elicited the admiration of a gathering which was perhaps the most thoroughly representative of any which has been held in this district for a considerable time . Middx ., P . M . The visitors were Bros . Grey , Eclectic , awli T . C Walls , P . G . S . B . Middx . ( Freemason ) . In consesequence of thc lamented demise of Bro . Sabine , P . G . VV . of the Province , the furniture , & c , of the lodge was draped , and the whole of the brethren appeared in Masonic mourning . The melancholy token of respect in memory of Bro . Sabine will appear for some time to come in the Middlesex

lodges , as the R . W . P . G . M ., Bro . Colonel Burdett , has issued an order to that effect . The proceedings commenced by the ballot being taken for Bro . C H . Glover , No . 1334 , as a joining member , and for Mr . F . H . T . Block , as initiate , and it proving to be unanimous in their favour , thc latter gentleman was initiated into Craft mysteries by Bro . Moss , P . M . This concession being granted by thc W . M .

at Bro . Moss's special request . The W . M . having resumed the chair , impressively passed Bro . Jenkins as a F . C ., and raised Bro . B . Squire to the Degree of M . M ., ably assisted by his officers . A vote of condolence having been unanimously passed to the widow of the late Bro . Sabine , who was one of the founders and a Past Master of this lodge , and several propositions having been handed in , the lodge

was duly and formally closed , and thc brethren adjourned to the banquet , which was ably catered for by Bro . Bayliss . Upon the removal of the cloth , the W . M . said that , as it was merely an emergency meeting , the usual Masonic toasts would be necessarily curtailed , and , as far he was concerned , they would be but briefly prefaced . " The Queen and the Craft" and "Thc M . W . G . M . " having

been given , Bro . J . 1 . Moss , P . M ., arose , and proposed in a very flattering manner " The Health of the W . M . " In the course of a very humorous speech , he congratulated the lodge upon the manner in which its duties had been discharged by Bro . Devereaux throughout thc whole of a very arduous year of office . In addition to possessing Masonic qualities of a high character , their W . M . was

gifted with those genial and social attributes which charmed all those who were brought into contact with him . In conclusion , he said that upon his ( the W . M . 's ) approaching retirement he would carry with him the entire thanks and good wishes of his brethren of thc Era Lodge . This toast having been received with excellent " fire , " the W . M . replied in a neat and modest speech . The W . M . then gave

in appropriate terms "Thc Health of the Initiate , " and this pledge having been duly honoured , Bro . Block briefly acknowledged the compliment . " The Visitors " followed . In proposing this toast , the W . M . indulged in some vety cordial and nattering expressions . Bros . Grey and Walls

having briefly responded , " The Health of the Officers " followed , and this toast having been acknowledged by Bros . Loos , S . W ., and Baldwin , Treasurer . The Tyler was called upon to discharge his duty , and the proceedings terminated . Iluring thc evening several of the brethren contributed some very excellent vocal and other selections .

M ., presided at the monthly meeting of this lodge , held at the Masonic Hall , on Tuesday , the 20 th ult ., and he was supported by Bros . W . J . Chapman , P . M ., M . C ; Joseph Bell , P . G .
