The lodge having been opened in due form , a portion of the work deferred from the late installation was disposed of , amongst other matters being the reception and adoption
of the Auditor ' s report , which was of a most satisfactory nature . Bro . Newington Bridges completed the ceremony of installing his successor by delivering the addresses to Master , Officers , and members , in his customary perfect style . The M . W . G . Master having been duly saluted according to ancient form , expressed his gratification at being enabled to pay his unavoidably delayed visit to the'lodge ,
congratulating the members upon the success which had attended its first year of existence , and himself upon the connection of his name therewith . His lordship's kindly remarks and expression of good wishes were cordially acknowledged by the brethren whom he addressed , and will doubtless inspire them with the strongest desire to continue the lodge as it has commenced , honourable alike to the exalted Masonic name it bears , to the Order of which it is an integral part , and to those who are now , and in the future will be , its members .
Shortly after the address of the M . W . Grand Master , announcement was made that the Provincial Grand Lodge of Middlesex and Surrey had assembled , and that its members sought admission , whereupon a deputation was formed to make the necessary introduction , and the procession escorting the R W . Prov . Grand Master , Sir Francis
Burdett , and his officers entered the lodge room , the several officers of the Kintore Lodge respectively vacating their positions . The business before the Provincial Grand Lodge was then carried out , and on its termination the members of the Kintore Lodge resumed labour , and shortly alter the lodge was closed in due form . At the banquet subsequently the Kintore Lodge was well represented .

Successful ballots then took place for four brethren , who were all accepted , as aspirants , and two of them being present , were duly received into the M . C . Some formal business was then discharged , and the Celebrant proceeded to read a paper he had given notice of , whose title was " Jachin and Boaz . " In the course of it he went in detail into the history and construction of those two remarkable features of the Temple at Jerusalem , their moral signification , & c Some conversational discussion took place , and a hearty
vote of thanks was passed to the Celebrant for his able essay , which it was decided should not be published , but placed in the college archives . Two brethren were proposed as candidates , and it was resolved to hold the next meeting on Wednesday , the 19 th August , at Pontefract . ¦ A vote of thanks was passed to the Harrogate brethren for the use of their hall , and the members then adjourned to the White Hart Hotel to tea , where they were joined by theChief Adept , who had been unexpectedly detained by business in York .

FUNERAL OF THE LATE DR . HOPKINS .
The funeral of our lamented Bro . Dr . Henry Hopkins , P . M . 41 , Bath ; 43 , Birmingham ; 958 , Jersey ; & c „ took place at Lockshruok Cemetery , Bath , on Friday , the 5 th inst ., the officiating clergyman being Bro . the Rev . Prebendary Anderson . Miss Hopkins ( sister to the deceased ) , and other relatives and friends occupied carriages
¦ n the procession , and were met at the entrance to the < jnapel by the members of the Royal Cumberland Lodge , No . 41 , and a large number of visiting brethren from Somersetshire and nei ghbouring counties , all of whom were attired in the usual habiliments of mourning , with while gloves and button holes of sprigs of acacia . Several ' fiends were also at the cemetery , in evidence of their affection for the deceased , and not a few of the large assembly the
w ^ r £ visibly affected during solemn service , especially "the open grave , in which Mrs . Hopkins was interred in the year 1 SS 0 . The doctor was a frequent visitor at Lockshrook , and had selected the site for * ' his last resting place , " ' ¦ j a spot well-known to many present as one of the most 3 B san"v situated on the beautiful grounds , commanding » tine view of the city . Prebendary Anderson , contrary to his usual custom , delivered a most impressive address at the grave ( on the conclusion of the service ) , expressive of his esteem for the departed , his appreciation of his justice , conscientiousness , goodness of nature , and active benevolence , Special mention was made of the active part he had taken
years ago in the formation of the Royal College of Preceptors , of wHich he was for long- a member of the Council and took a great interest in all that concerned its welfare and prosperity . Dr . Hopkins has bequeathed the sum of 100 guineas to the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys in the name of the St . Paul ' s Lodge , No . 43 , Birmingham , and 50 guineas to the Royal Masonic
Institution for Girls in the name of the St . Aubin's Lodge , No . 95 S , Jersey . He also recently presented to the Royal Cumberland Lodge , No . 41 , Bath , of which he also was a P . M ., the sum of 100 guineas for the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , besides other valuable donations . The bulk of his property eventually goes to the Royal College of Preceptors to found annuitants for indigent teachers .

The annual meeting of this province was held on Monday , the ist inst ., under the auspices of the Kintore Lodge , 333 , at the Surrey Masonic Hall , Camberwell Neiv-road . The R . W . Bro . Col . Sir Francis Burdett , Bart ., Prov . Grand Master , presided , and Provincial Grand Lodge was honoured by the attendance of the Right Hon . the Earl of
Kintore , Most Worshipful Grand Master , and many other Grand Officers . ; ; . ' After Provincial Grand Mark Lq & ge had been formall y opened , and the minutes of thelasjSlteeting , held 10 th July , 1 SS 4 , had been confirmed , the rolijjjjf lodges of the province was called over , and report made Ss to the position of each . The Treasurer ' s accounts were next submitted . They show a balance in hand on account of the General Fund of
£ 6 g 15 s ., while there stands to the creditof the Benevolent Fund £ 10 14 s . Sd . The balance-sheet was unanimously adopted . Sir FRANCIS BURDETT , Bart ., was formally nominated and appointed as Provincial Grand Mark Master for a further term of three years , and , in acknowledging the compliment , he said he was much obliged for the honour done him . He had been associated with the province since
its formation—now 15 years . He was intensely gratified at the progress it had made since he had had the pleasure of presiding over its destinies . At the time he was referring to there were but five lodges in the district ; they now numbered 32 , with every prospect of still further increasing at an early date . Bro . Thomas Clark , 173 , was appointed Steward for the Mark Benevolent Fund Festival , and a contribution of
J ( , IO IOS . was voted from the funds of Provincial Grand Lodge in support of his Stewardship . Bro . C . Hammerton , P . G . D . C , was re-elected to the office of Provincial Grand Treasurer , which compliment he briefly acknowledged . It was satisfactory to know they had a balance in hand , which was due , in a very great measure , to the exertions of their esteemed Provincial Grand Secretary , Bro . VV . G . Brighten . Provincial Grand Lodge , referred to the zeal Bro . Brighten had always displayed . He felt the time had now arrived when a Committee should be formed to arrange for the expression in some tangible form of the sentiments of the brethren . It was then proposed that a sum of 15 guineas should be voted from the lodge funds , and that the General Purposes Committee should decide what form
the proposed testimonial should take and arrangefor its presentation . This proposition was seconded , and supported by the PROV . GRAND MASTER , who readily bore testimony to the goodwill with which Bro . Brighten entered upon the performance of his duties . Bro . J . M . KLENCK also spoke in support . He had had some experience of the duties attached to the office of
Secretary , and he could bear testimony to the energy Bro . Brighten brought to bear upon their fulfilment . 1 he vote proposed was unanimously agreed to , and the sum ol five guineas set aside for clerical assistance during the year . Provincial Grand Lodge having been closed , the brethren partook of a banquet , after which the usual toasts were done full justice to .

MASONIC CHARITY IN HAMPSHIRE
A special " meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Hampshire and Isle of Wight was held at the Schoolroom , Bishopstoke , on Saturday , the 6 th inst ., for the purpose of considering and confirming the bye-laws for the government of the Masonic Kducational and Benevolent Institution , which , on the motion of VV . Bro . Lancaster , a recent Prov .
Grand Lodge decided it was desirable to form . There was an attendance of about 70 brethren from Southampton , Winchester , Portsmouth , the Isle of Wight , Aldershot , & c , the Portsmouth lodges being especially well represented . The R . W . Bro . W . VV . B . Beach , M . P ., P . G . M ., presided , supported on his right by the D . P . G . M ., W . Bro . Le Feuirre , W . Bros . Major Shalden Smith and VV . Gamon
acting as Wardens . The object of the proposed institution is to raise means to be applied to educate , clothe , and advance in life the necessitous children of Freemasons of the province , whether the father be living or dead , and to afford relief or assistance , where considered desirable , to Freemasons of or in the province , and their families , and generally to promote
the cause of Masonic Charity . The bye-laws provide that the Committee of Management may pay for the education and clothintr of each child any sum not exceeding £ 15 per annum , and the fund will be invested in trustees . A minimum subscription of five shillings per annum will give the subscribers the privilege of one vote at each election during the year in which it is paid , each additional subscription of
a like sum increasing the voting power in proportion , and donations of particular amounts will confer voting privileges as Life Subscribers , Life Governors , Vice-Presidents , and Vice-Patrons . Ladies will be also entitled to votes in respect of donations , and votes are also given to any
minister of religion causing a collection to be made in aid of the fund , two being apportioned for every five guineas so obtained . The bye-laws , as brought up by the Committee , were approved after several verbal amendments , and Provincial Grand Lodge was then closed in due form .
H . R . H . Prince Albert Victor will be advanced to the Mark Degree in the Isaac Newton University Lodge , No . 112 , at Cambridge , on Tuesday next . Bro . James Terry , P . P . G . S . W . Norths and Hunts , & c , will rehearse the ceremonies of consecration and installation at the Earl of Lathom Lodge of Instruction , No . 1922 , on Wednesday next , the 17 th inst .
At the installation meeting" of the Hermes Chapter , No . 77 , held at the Clarendon Hotel , Gravesend , on the 10 th inst ., Ex . Comp . W . H . Dean , P . P . G . Reg . Dorset , was presented by the chapter with a handsome gold P . Z's . jewel , for the able and efficient manner in which he had discharged the duties of M . E . Z . during the past year .

The funeral of our lamented Bro . Dr . Henry Hopkins , P . M . 41 , Bath ; 43 , Birmingham ; 958 , Jersey ; & c „ took place at Lockshruok Cemetery , Bath , on Friday , the 5 th inst ., the officiating clergyman being Bro . the Rev . Prebendary Anderson . Miss Hopkins ( sister to the deceased ) , and other relatives and friends occupied carriages
¦ n the procession , and were met at the entrance to the < jnapel by the members of the Royal Cumberland Lodge , No . 41 , and a large number of visiting brethren from Somersetshire and nei ghbouring counties , all of whom were attired in the usual habiliments of mourning , with while gloves and button holes of sprigs of acacia . Several ' fiends were also at the cemetery , in evidence of their affection for the deceased , and not a few of the large assembly the
w ^ r £ visibly affected during solemn service , especially "the open grave , in which Mrs . Hopkins was interred in the year 1 SS 0 . The doctor was a frequent visitor at Lockshrook , and had selected the site for * ' his last resting place , " ' ¦ j a spot well-known to many present as one of the most 3 B san"v situated on the beautiful grounds , commanding » tine view of the city . Prebendary Anderson , contrary to his usual custom , delivered a most impressive address at the grave ( on the conclusion of the service ) , expressive of his esteem for the departed , his appreciation of his justice , conscientiousness , goodness of nature , and active benevolence , Special mention was made of the active part he had taken
years ago in the formation of the Royal College of Preceptors , of wHich he was for long- a member of the Council and took a great interest in all that concerned its welfare and prosperity . Dr . Hopkins has bequeathed the sum of 100 guineas to the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys in the name of the St . Paul ' s Lodge , No . 43 , Birmingham , and 50 guineas to the Royal Masonic
Institution for Girls in the name of the St . Aubin's Lodge , No . 95 S , Jersey . He also recently presented to the Royal Cumberland Lodge , No . 41 , Bath , of which he also was a P . M ., the sum of 100 guineas for the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , besides other valuable donations . The bulk of his property eventually goes to the Royal College of Preceptors to found annuitants for indigent teachers .

The annual meeting of this province was held on Monday , the ist inst ., under the auspices of the Kintore Lodge , 333 , at the Surrey Masonic Hall , Camberwell Neiv-road . The R . W . Bro . Col . Sir Francis Burdett , Bart ., Prov . Grand Master , presided , and Provincial Grand Lodge was honoured by the attendance of the Right Hon . the Earl of
Kintore , Most Worshipful Grand Master , and many other Grand Officers . ; ; . ' After Provincial Grand Mark Lq & ge had been formall y opened , and the minutes of thelasjSlteeting , held 10 th July , 1 SS 4 , had been confirmed , the rolijjjjf lodges of the province was called over , and report made Ss to the position of each . The Treasurer ' s accounts were next submitted . They show a balance in hand on account of the General Fund of
£ 6 g 15 s ., while there stands to the creditof the Benevolent Fund £ 10 14 s . Sd . The balance-sheet was unanimously adopted . Sir FRANCIS BURDETT , Bart ., was formally nominated and appointed as Provincial Grand Mark Master for a further term of three years , and , in acknowledging the compliment , he said he was much obliged for the honour done him . He had been associated with the province since
its formation—now 15 years . He was intensely gratified at the progress it had made since he had had the pleasure of presiding over its destinies . At the time he was referring to there were but five lodges in the district ; they now numbered 32 , with every prospect of still further increasing at an early date . Bro . Thomas Clark , 173 , was appointed Steward for the Mark Benevolent Fund Festival , and a contribution of
J ( , IO IOS . was voted from the funds of Provincial Grand Lodge in support of his Stewardship . Bro . C . Hammerton , P . G . D . C , was re-elected to the office of Provincial Grand Treasurer , which compliment he briefly acknowledged . Provincial Grand Lodge , referred to the zeal Bro . Brighten had always displayed . He felt the time had now arrived when a Committee should be formed to arrange for the expression in some tangible form of the sentiments of the brethren . It was then proposed that a sum of 15 guineas should be voted from the lodge funds , and that the General Purposes Committee should decide what form
the proposed testimonial should take and arrangefor its presentation . This proposition was seconded , and supported by the PROV . GRAND MASTER , who readily bore testimony to the goodwill with which Bro . Brighten entered upon the performance of his duties . Bro . J . M . KLENCK also spoke in support . He had had some experience of the duties attached to the office of
Secretary , and he could bear testimony to the energy Bro . Brighten brought to bear upon their fulfilment . 1 he vote proposed was unanimously agreed to , and the sum ol five guineas set aside for clerical assistance during the year . Provincial Grand Lodge having been closed , the brethren partook of a banquet , after which the usual toasts were done full justice to .

A special " meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Hampshire and Isle of Wight was held at the Schoolroom , Bishopstoke , on Saturday , the 6 th inst ., for the purpose of considering and confirming the bye-laws for the government of the Masonic Kducational and Benevolent Institution , which , on the motion of VV . Bro . Lancaster , a recent Prov .
Grand Lodge decided it was desirable to form . There was an attendance of about 70 brethren from Southampton , Winchester , Portsmouth , the Isle of Wight , Aldershot , & c , the Portsmouth lodges being especially well represented . The R . W . Bro . W . VV . B . Beach , M . P ., P . G . M ., presided , supported on his right by the D . P . G . M ., W . Bro . Le Feuirre , W . Bros . Major Shalden Smith and VV . Gamon
acting as Wardens . The object of the proposed institution is to raise means to be applied to educate , clothe , and advance in life the necessitous children of Freemasons of the province , whether the father be living or dead , and to afford relief or assistance , where considered desirable , to Freemasons of or in the province , and their families , and generally to promote
the cause of Masonic Charity . The bye-laws provide that the Committee of Management may pay for the education and clothintr of each child any sum not exceeding £ 15 per annum , and the fund will be invested in trustees . A minimum subscription of five shillings per annum will give the subscribers the privilege of one vote at each election during the year in which it is paid , each additional subscription of
a like sum increasing the voting power in proportion , and donations of particular amounts will confer voting privileges as Life Subscribers , Life Governors , Vice-Presidents , and Vice-Patrons . Ladies will be also entitled to votes in respect of donations , and votes are also given to any
minister of religion causing a collection to be made in aid of the fund , two being apportioned for every five guineas so obtained . The bye-laws , as brought up by the Committee , were approved after several verbal amendments , and Provincial Grand Lodge was then closed in due form .
H . R . H . Prince Albert Victor will be advanced to the Mark Degree in the Isaac Newton University Lodge , No . 112 , at Cambridge , on Tuesday next . Bro . James Terry , P . P . G . S . W . Norths and Hunts , & c , will rehearse the ceremonies of consecration and installation at the Earl of Lathom Lodge of Instruction , No . 1922 , on Wednesday next , the 17 th inst .
At the installation meeting" of the Hermes Chapter , No . 77 , held at the Clarendon Hotel , Gravesend , on the 10 th inst ., Ex . Comp . W . H . Dean , P . P . G . Reg . Dorset , was presented by the chapter with a handsome gold P . Z's . jewel , for the able and efficient manner in which he had discharged the duties of M . E . Z . during the past year .
