Fenton supported the toast by a few remarks expressive of his pleasure at meeting an old friend in a Masonic lodge—an old friend who was son of one of the most respected of the vicars of Lancasterand the mention of whose name brought up such pleasant reminiscences of former years . Bro . Turner , in
responding , thanked the brethren lor their courteous invitation to be present on such an interesting occasion . He had a particular pleasure in being present , not only because it afforded him an opportunity of meeting with old friends , but also because everything connected with the good old town recalled , in one way or another , agreeable remembrances of his late dear father , and of the many happy
days spent in Lancaster . He had only recently entered the ranks of Masonry , but what he had seen of it met with his cordial approval , and he had hopes at some future day of attaining to the same rank which had that day been bestowed on their Chairman . Bro . Cutts , in a few brief sentences , gave the toast of " The Sister Lodges , " which was acknowledged by Bro . Atkinson , W . M . 2 S 1 , who
expressed the hope that the good tcehng which existed between the Masonic lodges in the town would continue . The toast of "The Newly Initiated" was given by Bro . Taylor , and acknowledged by Bro . Iryin , and the proceedings terminated with Bro . Allinson giving the Tyler ' s toast . There was some capital singing by the brethren in the course of the evening .

satisfactory charitable collection the brethren and visitors adjourned to the Grand Hotel , where an elaborate banquet was served in the principal hall by the host , Bro . Michel ( memher 1717 ) . Bro . Michel may fairly be said to have surpassed himself on this occasion , and it is to be hoped that his commodious , well ordered , and finely situated hotel ,
will attract many visitors to the site of Ancient Carthage . After the removal of the cloth several excellent speeches were made by the W . M ., P . M ., and Bro . Rcade , Her Britannic Majesty's Agent and Consul General , while the W . M . of the Italian Lodge warmly congratulated the first W .
