Treasurer ; Dunkley , Organist ; and Harrison , Janitor . A Past Principal ' s jewel was then presented to Ex . Comp . W . H . Saunders . Previously to the chapter being closed a vote of thanks was unanimously passed , and ordered to be entered on the minutes , to Comp . H . J . Lardner , for his efficient services as Installing Officer .

Several propositions having been handed in , the chapter was duly closed , and the companions adjourned to the banquet . The usual toasts followed . During the evening Comp . Dunkley and others entertained the companions , the vocal , instrumental , and other efforts of the former companion being highly appreciated . The Jewel was manufactured by Bro . George Kenning .

report of the Auditors was adopted , showing a laro-e balance due to the chapter . A vote of £ 15 was granted to the fund for providing a new organ for the hall . Successful ballots were taken for six candidates , two of whom were exalted by the newly-installed Z ., and the chapter was closed with " Hearty good wishes" from the visiting

companions . A sumptuous supper followed , which was well attended , and a series of toasts were observed ; some very excellent speeches being made , the M . E . Z . being congratulated on his entrance into office being marked by so large an influx of candidates . ————

GUERNSEY . —Loyalty Chapter ( No . 243 ) . — An emergency meeting of this chapter was held at the Masonic Temple , Le Marchant-street , on the 28 th ult . Present : M . E . Comps . J . Weysom , Z . ; Le Huray , H . ; J . Quick , J . ; H . M . Stickland , P . Z . , J . Bichard , P . Z . ; P . Le Page , P . Z . ; Emra Holmes , P . Z ., P . P . G . S . B ., P . P . G . Soj . and others . The chapter havingjbeen opened by the three Principals , the rest of the companions were duly admitted . Bros . Macgregor and Nicolle , of Mariners Lodge , were balloted for and accepted , and were duly received , obligated , and exalted as Royal Arch Masons , the impressive ceremony being ably conducted by Comp . Stickland , P . Z ., who also gave the symbolical lecture with great empressement . The mystical lecture was given by Comp . Bichard , P . Z ., and

the historical lecture by Comp . Quick . The companions afterwards retired to the banquetingroom below , where the usual pleasant supper was spread , and the visitors were cordially welcomed . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured , and the brethren separated at a reasonable hour , loath to part , and hoping to meet soon again . This chapter is prospering greatly just now , and is likely to continue to do so , all the officers doing their work well and acting most harmoniously together , as Masons should .

WOOLSTON . —Ancasta Chapter ( No . 1461 ) . — A meeting of this chapter was held on Wednesday , the 29 th ult ., at the Masonic Hall , Bro . Bowyer , M . E . C , presiding , and there were present among others Comps . Tilling , M . E . C , H . ; C Rosoman , J . ; Methven , S . E . ; Horton , acting S . N . ; Hobbs , P . S . ; and Dr . Symonds and

E . T . Wise , A . S . The Degree was worked according to the Metropolitan ritual , and a brother was exalted . The chapter unanimously elected Comp . Bowyer , M . E . C , to fill the first chair for another year , in consideration of his efforts in promoting the establishment of the chapter . All the other officers were also re-elected .

Lawrence , Knight of Constantinople , Red Cross of Babylon and High Priest

WIGAN . —St . George ' s Council ( No . 4 ) . —The annual meeting of the members of this council was held at the Masonic Hall on Saturday , the 2 nd inst ., when the brethren mustered in good force . In the unavoidable absence of the W . M ., Bro . P . M . Hunter , the chair was taken by Bro . J . D . Murray , P . M ., P . G . S . B . The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and confirmed . The

ballot was then taken for the following brethren : Bros . W . Eagle , S . H . Hartley , VV . Newsome , and W . Wilson , and being unanimous , they were duly advanced to the Degrees of St . Lawrence the Martyr and Knt . of Constantinople , Bro . W . Nicholl , P . M ., G . J . W ., ably assisting the acting W . M . The Degree of Knt . of the Red Cross was then conferred on Bros . ROYAL MASONIC BENEVOLENT INSTITUTION .

The Committee of the above Institution met on Wednesday , at the Freemasons' Hall , Bro . Raynham W . Stewart in the chair . Bro . Terry , the Secretary , reported the death of three accepted male candidates for the election to-day ( Friday ) . The Warden's report was read and cheques

were signed for the ensuing quarter ' s annuities and for various current expenses . The list of attendances on the Committee for the past year was read . Bro . Clever , who had qualified as a Vice-President , retired , and Bro . Sillitoe also retired . Bro . Dilley was renominated , and the names o ' six of the brethren were given in for election to-day ( Friday ) . The annual report , which will be submitted to the meeting to-day , was also read and approved .

The annual dinner of the above was held at the North Pole , Oxford-street , on Friday , ist inst ., under the presidency of Bro . J . VV . Harvey , VV . M . 25 , and Bro . F . J . Baker , P . M . 753 , Preceptor . Present : Bros . Welch , 1 Hawkins

The first toast of the evening , "The Queen and the Craft , " was tersely proposed by the worthy PRESIDENT , and was received and honoured in the usual Masonic style , the brethren singing the National Anthem , Bro . Baker rendering the solo . "The M . W . Grand Master , and the rest of the Grand Officers" was given and received in like manner , and

Bro . Baker again gave the solo of the Masonic version of " God bless the Prince of Wales . " The VICE-PRESIDENT , in giving in felicitous terms "The Health of the VV . M . of the Mother Lodge , Bro . J . VV . Harvey , " referred to the correct and perfect working of the ritual and ceremonies . This toast was enthusiastically received and duly honoured .

Bro . Kempton gave a humourous recitation , " The Half Hundred , " in first rate style , and The PRESIDENT , in reply , stated that if he was correct in his working thanks were due to Bro . Baker , from whom he had learnt his Masonry . Bro . Ford then sang " lorn Bowling . " The toast of the evening— " Bro . Baker , P . M .,

Preceptor , and Honorary Member of the Robert Burns Lodge " —was then proposed by the PRESIDENT , who , in happy phrases , referred to the invaluable services rendered by Bro . Baker to the Robert Burns Lodge , and to Masonry in general , during the last 27 years by his untiring and accurate teaching of the ritual , his kindly and brotherly help which he was at all times so ready to afford to any young

Masons ; and he said that he was quite sure that all the brethren would unite in wishing Uro . Baker might be spared for many years lo come , that he was one of the oldest Preceptors , both in the Craft and Arch , and had given his untiring and undivided attention to his teaching younger Masons . After •' Annie Laura " had been sung by Bro . Blundell ,

Bro . BAKER responded , and , in thanking the brethren for the manner in which this toast had been drank , said that as long as T . G . A . O . T . U . spared him health and strength , he should endeavour to do his best to teach those who came to him for help . He felt it no mean honour when he said that most of the Past Masters of the Robert Burns Lodge had been " his boys , " and nothing gave him greater

pleasure than to see them take the chair and its work with credit to themselves and to the lodge to which they belonged . " The Visitors" were then proposed by Bro . BAUER , and responded to by Bros . REYNOLDS , SECKER , and COLES . The next toast was that of " The Treasurer and

Secretary and Officers of the Mother Lodge , " which was duly responded to by Bros . WELCH , DEATON , and HAWKINS . After numerous songs and recitations , a vote of thanks was awarded to the management of Mr . Brooks , of the North Pole , for the excellent manner in which he had supplied the board , and the brethren separated in perfect harmony .

Several propositions having been handed in , the chapter was duly closed , and the companions adjourned to the banquet . The usual toasts followed . During the evening Comp . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured , and the brethren separated at a reasonable hour , loath to part , and hoping to meet soon again . This chapter is prospering greatly just now , and is likely to continue to do so , all the officers doing their work well and acting most harmoniously together , as Masons should .

WOOLSTON . —Ancasta Chapter ( No . 1461 ) . — A meeting of this chapter was held on Wednesday , the 29 th ult ., at the Masonic Hall , Bro . Bowyer , M . E . In the unavoidable absence of the W . M ., Bro . P . M . Hunter , the chair was taken by Bro . J . D . Murray , P . M ., P . G . S . B . The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and confirmed . The

The Committee of the above Institution met on Wednesday , at the Freemasons' Hall , Bro . Raynham W . Stewart in the chair . Bro . Terry , the Secretary , reported the death of three accepted male candidates for the election to-day ( Friday ) . The Warden's report was read and cheques

were signed for the ensuing quarter ' s annuities and for various current expenses . The list of attendances on the Committee for the past year was read . Bro . Clever , who had qualified as a Vice-President , retired , and Bro . Sillitoe also retired . Bro . Dilley was renominated , and the names o ' six of the brethren were given in for election to-day ( Friday ) . The annual report , which will be submitted to the meeting to-day , was also read and approved .

Bro . Baker again gave the solo of the Masonic version of " God bless the Prince of Wales . " The VICE-PRESIDENT , in giving in felicitous terms "The Health of the VV . M . of the Mother Lodge , Bro . J . VV . Harvey , " referred to the correct and perfect working of the ritual and ceremonies . This toast was enthusiastically received and duly honoured .

Bro . Kempton gave a humourous recitation , " The Half Hundred , " in first rate style , and The PRESIDENT , in reply , stated that if he was correct in his working thanks were due to Bro . Baker , from whom he had learnt his Masonry . Bro . Ford then sang " lorn Bowling . " The toast of the evening— " Bro . Baker , P . M .,

Preceptor , and Honorary Member of the Robert Burns Lodge " —was then proposed by the PRESIDENT , who , in happy phrases , referred to the invaluable services rendered by Bro . Baker to the Robert Burns Lodge , and to Masonry in general , during the last 27 years by his untiring and accurate teaching of the ritual , his kindly and brotherly help which he was at all times so ready to afford to any young

Masons ; and he said that he was quite sure that all the brethren would unite in wishing Uro . Baker might be spared for many years lo come , that he was one of the oldest Preceptors , both in the Craft and Arch , and had given his untiring and undivided attention to his teaching younger Masons . After •' Annie Laura " had been sung by Bro . Blundell ,

Bro . BAKER responded , and , in thanking the brethren for the manner in which this toast had been drank , said that as long as T . G . A . O . T . U . spared him health and strength , he should endeavour to do his best to teach those who came to him for help . He felt it no mean honour when he said that most of the Past Masters of the Robert Burns Lodge had been " his boys , " and nothing gave him greater

pleasure than to see them take the chair and its work with credit to themselves and to the lodge to which they belonged . " The Visitors" were then proposed by Bro . BAUER , and responded to by Bros . REYNOLDS , SECKER , and COLES . The next toast was that of " The Treasurer and

Secretary and Officers of the Mother Lodge , " which was duly responded to by Bros . WELCH , DEATON , and HAWKINS . After numerous songs and recitations , a vote of thanks was awarded to the management of Mr . Brooks , of the North Pole , for the excellent manner in which he had supplied the board , and the brethren separated in perfect harmony .
