Ballot was taken for five brothers for exaltation , including Bros . Lord Charles Beresford and Seager Hunt , newly elected Members of Parliament for Marylebone , which was successful , and those two brethren and the other three , Bros . Lefort , 1563 , Ellis , 1305 , and Fclton ,
' 3 ° 5 > were duly exalted into Royal Arch Masonry by Comp . E . White , the newly installed M . E . Z ., in a manner that gave all present the greatest satisfaction , and evidently impressed the candidates with the ceremony . The audit report was adopted , showing a balance in favour of the chapter . A P . Z . 's jewel was presented to the I . P . Z ., and the chapter was closed . The companions dined in the Cafe Royal in the recherche way this excellently managed establishment can and do
serve dinners . After grace Comp . E . White , M . E . Z ., submitted the usual toasts with his accustomed ability , and referred to the chapter receiving an accession of five exal tees , two of which represented the Marylebone district in the new Parliament . The toast of "The Visitors" was also specially referred to , and Comps . Ferguson , Fish , Shand , and others replied in appreciation of the working of the chapter , and the convivial evening they had so much enjoyed .

Great admiration was expressed at the magnificent lodge room , now provided by the recent reconstruction of the Britannia Hotel , it being without doubt one of the finest

On Wednesday , the ( 3 th inst ., at the usual monthly meeting of the lodge , Bro . Captain Allan , R . W . M ., presiding ; Bro . Captain Crawford , the Secretary , reported a correspondence between himself and the Earl of Cathcart , which
had resulted in his lordship ' s recognilion of the lodge , and the gifts by him of a splendid engraved portrait ot their patron hero , Genera ) Sir George Cathcart , from a painting by Gooderson , and a beautiful sketch of Cathcart ' s Hill , in the Crimea—from Simpson ' s " Sketches in the Crimea "where Sir George and the other officers who fell at Inkerman
are buried . Bro . Captain Crawford then proceeded to give a sketch of the family of Cathcart , who , for twenty-two generations , had been associated with their ancient district m Scottish history . He further gave a short sketch of the honourable services to his country of Sir George Cathcart and eulogised the happy thought of the founders of the lodge in adopting his name as that of Lodge No . The companions dined in the Cafe Royal in the recherche way this excellently managed establishment can and do

Z ., submitted the usual toasts with his accustomed ability , and referred to the chapter receiving an accession of five exal tees , two of which represented the Marylebone district in the new Parliament . On Wednesday , the ( 3 th inst ., at the usual monthly meeting of the lodge , Bro . Captain Allan , R . W . M ., presiding ; Bro . Captain Crawford , the Secretary , reported a correspondence between himself and the Earl of Cathcart , which
had resulted in his lordship ' s recognilion of the lodge , and the gifts by him of a splendid engraved portrait ot their patron hero , Genera ) Sir George Cathcart , from a painting by Gooderson , and a beautiful sketch of Cathcart ' s Hill , in the Crimea—from Simpson ' s " Sketches in the Crimea "where Sir George and the other officers who fell at Inkerman
are buried . Bro . Captain Crawford then proceeded to give a sketch of the family of Cathcart , who , for twenty-two generations , had been associated with their ancient district m Scottish history . He further gave a short sketch of the honourable services to his country of Sir George Cathcart and eulogised the happy thought of the founders of the lodge in adopting his name as that of Lodge No .
