MASONIC BALL AT LIVERPOOL .
Prominent amongst the charitable schemes which are the distinguishing characteristics of our Order , none occupy a more honourable position than the West Lancashire Masonic Educational Institution , which , for a period of nearly 40 years , has done much to give education and material help to the children of dead and distressed

Bro . WHITEHEAD said this was given as a slight token of the appreciation of his Worship ' s efforts on behalf of the Charities generally , and the Masonic Charity in particular . He trusted the Mayor would have a most prosperous second year of office , and that the important and interesting movement in which he was taking a lively interest—that of an international exhibition—would be brought to a most successful termination .
In acknowledging the gift , his WORSHIP said it gave him great pleasure to be present to receive at Bro . Whitehead ' s hands the beautiful badge with which he had been presented , and he valued the gift as highly as any he could receive . He had worked in harmony with his Masonic brethren since the time he became a Mason , now about 25 years , and it afforded him the greatest delight to attend that evening to give his countenance to an effort on behalf of a most deserving Charity .
Dancing commenced about nine o'clock , the music being supplied by Bro . Collinson . Bro . H . M . Molyneux , P . M . Christmas Social Party Of The Blair Lodge, No.815, At The Hulme Town Hall, Manchester.
CHRISTMAS SOCIAL PARTY OF THE BLAIR LODGE , No . 815 , AT THE HULME TOWN HALL , MANCHESTER .
The usual soiree , or what , perhaps , is more aptly named " social party , " came off at the HulmeTown Hall on Wednesday , 6 th inst . Owing to some inadvertence on the part of the Hall Committee the members of the lodge were
compelled nolens volens to hold their annual re-union on the Wednesday instead of as hithertofore on their lodge night ( the first Friday ) , consequently the gathering was not so much a success in point of numbers as it otherwise would have been . At the same time the number present , S 5 , succeeded in thoroughly enjoying themselves — judging from the frequent bursts of laughter and merriment heard
on all sides . Dancing commenced shortly after half-past eight , and was continued until 11 . 15 , when the major portion of the company adjourned to supper , and meanwhile extra dances were indulged in by those ladies and gentlemen who remained in the ball room , and who , at a later period , partook of supper also . Subsequently the whole party met together
again in the ball room , when dancing was resumed and kept up with unflagging spirit until 4 o'clock , at which time the hall had to be closed . Everything that could be done for the comfort and enjoyment of the company had been planned and arranged by Bros . J . Sheldrick , P . M . ; J . Priestnall , S . W . ; B . Blair , J . W . ; and H . VV . Riley , Sec , to whom great praise is due , and we feel satisfied
that every one was well pleased with the evening's entertainment , at the same time there was no doubt that had the soiree been held on the usual lodge night a much greater number of visitors would have been present . The following ladies and gentlemen were present : Bros . Dr . Jos . St . Patrick Riley , W . M . ; J . L . Priestnall , S . W . ; Bryce Blair , J . W ., Mrs . Blair , Mr . and Mrs . Vowe ; Mrs .
Sharpies , Mrs . Hughes , and Miss Moore ; Bro . VV . J . Herring , J . D ., Mrs . | Herring , and Miss Hopwood , Bro . H . Walton , I . G ., and Mrs . Walton ; Bro . Colonel H . L . Rocca , P .
