CHESHUNT . Gresham Lodge ( No . 869 ) . —The installation meeting took place at Cheshunt Great House , on Saturday , the ioth inst ., under the presidency of the W . M ., Bro . S . M . Banker , P . P . G . Std . Br . Herts . The lodge having been opened , the W . M . proceeded to initiate Mr . Alfred E . Gooding into the light of Masonry , and subsequently
installed his successor , Bro . W . Haynes Dunn , P . M . 129 S , into the chair of K . S . in an able manner , a very large number of Installed Master ? being present . The newlyinstalled Master appointed and invested his officers as follows : Bros . G . S . Elliott , S . W . ; C E . Everett , J . W . ; Chas . A . Gompertz , P . P . G . S . B ., Treas . ; S . M . The lodge having been closed , the brethren partook of a substantial banquet prepared by the Curator , Bro . B . Mitchell . The usual toasts having been given and responded to , The W . M . called the attention of the brethren to the
two handsome clocks which were then on the table , and which were spontaneously subscribed for by the brethren on the fact becoming known that the late Treasurer and Secretary had sent in their resignations , the former having held that position for 19 and the latter the Secretaryship for 22 years , and he called upon Bro . Banker to make the presentation , which was done in a very effective and
suitable manner . In returning thanks for the very handsome testimonial that day presented to him , Bro . F . D . R . Copestick said that it gave him great pleasure to think that his efforts as Treasurer for the past 19 years had met with their approbation , and been so thoroughly appreciated . He had worked in unison with the late Secretary , Bro . Gompertz , for 25
years , and had done all that was possib ' e to keep the lodge harmoniously together . During the whole of that time there had never been a misword between them , and it afforded him considerable satisfaction to think that the son of his late colleague had been chosen as their future Treasurer . He ( Bro . Copestick ) had received a very handsome Treasurer ' s jewel nine years ago , and it was most
gratifying to find that the present Master and brethren endorsed the views of their predecessors . It would always be a p leasure to look back on these two events , when , perhaps , ill-health or infirmity might prevent his attendance at the lodge , of which he hoped to remain a member so long as life should last . Bro . W . E . Gompertz said he fully endorsed the remarks
made by Bro . Copestick . He ( himself ) had been a member of the Iodge for 27 years , and for 22 years , as Secretary , had endeavoured faithfully to discharge the duties of the important office entrusted to him . Great pleasure was expressed by the members of the Iodge that Bro . Hobb ' s health had so improved that he was again able to become a subscribing member , and it was unanimously resolved that , notwithstanding temporary
retirement from the lodge , his name should be replaced as second on the roll of the lodge , Bros . John Ward Saunders and Percy Jones Rowlands were raised to the Third Degree , after which the ceremony of installation took 1 lace . The work of Installing Master was performed by the W . M ., Bro . F . W . I-eaver , and he installed his bother , Bro . E . C . Leaver , Bro . Redpath acting as D . C . The newly-installed

After the Worshipful Master hail proposed the usual loyal and Masonic toasts , he gave that of "The Provincial Grand Master , and the rest of the Provincial Grand Officers , Present and Past . Ihe toast of "The W . M . " was then given by thei . P . M ., who stated it was a great pleasure to him to install his own brother as W . F . W . Leader , I . P . M ., caused much laughter by his excellent recitation of "The Wooden Armed Reciter . "
DIDSBURY . Doric Lodge ( No . 2359 ) . —The fourth installation of this lodge was held on Saturday , the ioth inst ., at the Conservative Club , Barlow Moor-road . On account of the great popularity of Bro . G . A . Myers , P . M ., S . W ., W . M . elect , there was a very large assembly of important brethren present , many of whom had travelled a long
distance to do him honour on the occasion , as he is so well known in the Provinces of West and East Lancashire for his general charitable works and genial character . The lodge was opened by Bro . F . Stretch , W . M ., and the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The Treasurer's accounts were adopted and passed , proving the lodge to be in a most satisfactory
financial position . After contributing 30 guineas to various institutions , it left a balance of £ 41 4 s . 2 d . in hand . Out of the latter amount 20 guineas was voted to the Alpass Benevolent Institution . Bro . C . E . Towell , P . M ., was elected Charity Representative . Bro . G . S . Smith , P . M ., P . G . Org ., was requested by theW . M . to take the chair as Installing Master , and the W . M . elect
was presented to him by Bro . Stretch , P . M ., and the ceremony was proceeded with . The newly-elected W . M . was saluted , and Bro . Towell gave the working tools . Bro . Wm . Goodacre , P . G . S . B ., P . G . Sec , presented the warrant , which was very appropriate , as he was the Consecrating Officer on the occasion of its creation . I'he Installing Master presented the Book of Constitutions and by-laws . bro .

M ., invested and addressed the whole of his officers in a most masterly style , proving he is capable of carrying out with ability the affairs of the lodge for the ensuing year . Master from its origin , terminating with a beautiful locket formed from the founder's jewel with a suitable inscription thereon . The handsome present was graciously accepted . Bro . J . Hardwicke Marsh , W . M . 1730 ( but not a member of the Doric ) , also presented an engraving of Bro . the Earl of Lathom , Pro G . M . of England . This was mounted in a massive oak frame with plate glass . Bro .
Marsh said what prompted him to do that was on account of the deep interest he had always taken in the lodge from its very commencement , and also he was so delighted to see his old friend and companion , Bro . G . A . Myers , installed into the chair . He was sure under his guidance the lodge was bound to continue prosperous . This was also accepted by Bro . Myers , W . M .
The lodge was closed after " Hearty good wishes " had been expressed from the numerous visitors present , and the brethren adjourned to the Didsbury Hotel , where the banquet was laid . During the evening the Worshipful Master presented a most magnificent Past Master ' s jewel , unique in design and workmanship , of pure gold , richly enamelled .

DIDSBURY . Doric Lodge ( No . 2359 ) . —The fourth installation of this lodge was held on Saturday , the ioth inst ., at the Conservative Club , Barlow Moor-road . On account of the great popularity of Bro . G . A . Myers , P . M ., S . W ., W . M . elect , there was a very large assembly of important brethren present , many of whom had travelled a long
distance to do him honour on the occasion , as he is so well known in the Provinces of West and East Lancashire for his general charitable works and genial character . The lodge was opened by Bro . F . Stretch , W . M ., and the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The Treasurer's accounts were adopted and passed , proving the lodge to be in a most satisfactory
financial position . After contributing 30 guineas to various institutions , it left a balance of £ 41 4 s . 2 d . in hand . This was mounted in a massive oak frame with plate glass . Bro .
Marsh said what prompted him to do that was on account of the deep interest he had always taken in the lodge from its very commencement , and also he was so delighted to see his old friend and companion , Bro . G . A . Myers , installed into the chair . He was sure under his guidance the lodge was bound to continue prosperous . This was also accepted by Bro . Myers , W . M .
The lodge was closed after " Hearty good wishes " had been expressed from the numerous visitors present , and the brethren adjourned to the Didsbury Hotel , where the banquet was laid . During the evening the Worshipful Master presented a most magnificent Past Master ' s jewel , unique in design and workmanship , of pure gold , richly enamelled .
