Huntley in the Second Principal ' s chair by Comp . Gray , P . Z ., the M . E . Z . rose and informed the
companions that a most pleasing duty devolved upon him , that of presenting to Comp . E . F . Storr , P . Z ., a testimonial consisting of the resolution ( passed at the previous meeting of the . chapter ) tendering the thanks of the chapter to Comp . btorr for his assiduous attention to the duties of the First Principal of the chapter during the past year owing to the lamentable absence of Comp . Ash well ,
the M . E . Z elect , through ill-health , which had been most beatifully and artistically recorded on vellum emblazoned with the Royal Arch colouisj The business of the day being ended the chapter was closed and the companions retired to enjoy the beauties of nature enhanced by the well known catering of Bro . Stone , of the Ship Hotel , Halliford .
ST . DUNSTAN'S CHAPTER ( No . 1589 ) . — The installation meeting of this chapter was held at Anderton ' s Hotel , Fleet-street , on Tuesday , the 26 th inst . Among those present were Comps . T . C . Walls , M . E . Z . ; W . Lake , H . ; H . Turner , j . ; A . Tisley , S . E . ; G . Manners , S . N . ; VV . H . Dalwood , P . Z ., Treas . ; F . H . Clemow , ist Asst . Soj . ; J . Dodson , P . Z . ; Col . Radcliffe ,
P . Z . ; Low , Harding , Farrington , SkeIton , Jenkins . Visitors : Comps . R . H . Crowden , M . E . Z . 1297 ; J . Lardner , M . E . Z . 1623 ; and J . C . Woodrow , S . E . 1297 . The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed , and the auditor ' s report received and adopted . The First Principal ' s chair was then filled by Comp . Col . Radclyffe , and Comp . W . Lake was installed as M . E . Z .,
Comp . H . Turner as H ., and Comp . G . Manners , as J . The other officers for the year ensuing are Comps . A . Tisley , S . E . ; Bristow , S . N . ; Dalwood , P . Z . / Treas . ; F . H . Clemow , P . S . ; and Clemow , ist . Asst . Soj . The ceremony was performed in Comp . Radcliffe's usual faultless manner , and the addresses most impressively delivered . A cordial vote of thanks was unanimously passed
to the Installing Officer , and the chapter was then closed . 'The banquet afterwards took place , presided over by the M . E . Z ., and the usual loyal and Royal Arch toasts were duly proposed and honoured . Comp . Walls , in proposing "The Health of the M . E . Z ., Comp . Lake , expressed the pleasure he felt in seeing him placed in the position of First Principal of the chapter . He had been a member from the commencement , had served
various offices , and was now rewarded by being elected to fill the chair of M . E . Z . Comp . Lake , in response , thanked Comp . Walls for his kind utterances , and assured the companions that he would endeavour to carry out his duties in a manner that should throw no discredit on the St . Dunstan's Chapter . He was surrounded by excellent working officers , and there was
no reason why the chapter should not have an increasingl y prosperous career before it . His first introduction into Masonry in London had been to the St . Dunstan ' s Lodge and chapter , and he highly valued the many friendships he had formed in connection therewith , which he trusted would be lasting and as agreeable as they had been in the past . The M . E . Z . then proposed the toast of "The Second
and Third Principals , Comps . Turner and Manners . " He was highly favoured in being supported on each side by two such worthy men and Masons as the present H . and J . Comp . 'Turner had already shown what he could do in Royal Arch Masonry , and Comp . Manners he had no doubt would prove himself equally efficient . Comps . Turner and Manners returned thanks in a few
well-chosen words expressive of their interest in Masonry and the St . Dunstan ' s Chapter especially , the latter claiming some consideration for any shortcomings on account of his many public duties in connection with the Common Council and other City bodies . The next toast was that of the " Past Principals . "
Comp . Walls who had just vacated the chair , was well known in Masonic circles . He had probably filled more Masonic offices in London during the past few years , than any brother in London , and his capacity for work was without limit . Comps . Dalwood and Dodson were also excellent men and Masons , popular in the parish as well as
Royal Arch.
in Masonry , and they were all very proud of them . Of Comp . Col . Radcliffe who had kindly acted as Installing Principal that day , although he was a P . Z . in the chapter and not of the chapter , they looked upon him as one of themselves ; he had acted as Installing Principal from its birth , and it was to be hoped that they would have the benehtjof Comp . Radcliffe ' s services for many vears in that
capacity . Before the companions responded the M . E . Z * presented on behalf of the chapter a P . Z . Jewel to Comp . Walls in recognition of his services during the past year . Comp . Walls in responding thanked the companions heartily for that mark of their esteem . He had had many similar presentations but none that he should value more highly than the one that had just been pinned on his
breast . Comps . Dalwood , Dodson , and Col . Radcliffealso returned thanks , each congratulating the M . E . Z . on his filling the chair , and offering all the aid they could in the working of the chapter . The toast of the "Visitors" followed . The M . E . Z . said they were honoured that evening with the presence of
the M . E . Z . of the West Kent Chapter . Comp . R . H . Crowden ; the M . E . Z . of West Smithfield Chapter , Comp . Lardner ; and the Scribe E . of the West Kent , Chapter , Comp . Woodrow , each of whom they were very glad to see Ccmp . R . H . Crowden , in responding , expressed the pleasure he felt at being present , which was enhanced by the fact that he had witnessed the installation of Comp .
Lake to the chair of First Principal . He had known the M . E . Z . for very many years out of Masonry , and , on their meeting in London , he was very gratified to find that they could also meet as Masons . Comps . Lardner and Woodrow also responded . The toasts of "Scribe E . " and "Treasurer" next
followed . The former , in response , again propounded his well-known comforting theory as to the advantages of public bodies being in debt , a heresy , which it need hardly be said , the Treasurer , who followed him in his remarks , did not fully endorse . The toast of " The Officers " followed , and a very agree , able evening was closed at an early hour by the Janitor ' s
toast . The jewel presented to the P . Z . was manufactured b y Comp . George Kenning , Little Britain .

companions that a most pleasing duty devolved upon him , that of presenting to Comp . E . F .
