Propositions for an initiation and for the election of a joining member were received , and , after ' * Hearty good wishes " by ihc visiting brethren , the lodge was closed . The brethren afterwards dined at the Assembly Rooms , where an excellent banquet was served by Bro . C . Gurr , and a very pleasant evening was spent , under the presidency ol the W . M ., the usual toasts being interspersed with some excellent vocal and instrumental music .

Gerald Biron was raised lo the Sublime Degree of M . M ., the ceremonies being alily and impressively performed . A letter was read by the Secretary from the VV . M . and the members of No . S 51 , ai'imaling to the lodges throughout the country , to extend

a helping hand to the sufferers of the recent epidemic of tjaihoid fever in Worthing , by which over 1200 of the inhabitants , out of a population of 7000 have been attacked , ami 150 have died . It was proposed , seconded , and supported by the VV . M . and other members of the lodge , anil carried unanimously that a sum of five guineas be contributed from the Charity funds in aid ol the sufferers , 'he W . M . also drew attention toa Masonic service to be

Wil at the Parish Church , Urmston , on Sunday afternoon , the Sth prox ., and a Committee , consisting of the VV . M ., * ' md j . Wardens , and the Past Masters of the lodge was " ¦ 'pointed to make the necessary arrangements for same . ' 'Ileaity good wishes" were expressed by the visiting "felhren , and the lodge was closed . Afterwards a pleasant hour was spent at the social board , when the usual Masonic toasts , intercepted with songs and r , * iitations , were given and acknowledged .

The chapter was then closed , and the companions adjourned to an excellent supper , where harmony and unanimity reigned throughout the remaining portion of the evening .

ISLE OF WIGHT . Albany Lodge . —A most interesting ceremony took place at the Alasonic Hall , Newport , on Wednesday , the 20 th inst ., when this ancient lodge was opened for the last time with its ritual of "Time Immemorial . " After the lodge was opened , the Prov . G . M ., Bro . VV . VV . B . Beach , M . P ., entered and took the chair and received the allegiance of the old members of the lodge to the Grand

Lodge of England . Bro . D . S . Pring , VV . M . elect , was then installed by the Prov . Grand Master , and received into his keeping the warrant of confirmation granted in August last to the Albany Lodge by H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , Grand Master of England . In banding over the document , the Prov . Grand Master congratulated the lodge and Bro . Pring on the good work that day completed , and expressed his heartiest good wishes for the prosperity of

the lodge . A number of brethren of other lodges were elected as joining members , and the VV . M . invested the following officers : Bros , the Rev . E . VV . Watts , M . A ., S . W . ; C . T . Propositions for an initiation and for the election of a joining member were received , and , after ' * Hearty good wishes " by ihc visiting brethren , the lodge was closed . The brethren afterwards dined at the Assembly Rooms , where an excellent banquet was served by Bro . C . Gurr , and a very pleasant evening was spent , under the presidency ol the W . M ., the usual toasts being interspersed with some excellent vocal and instrumental music .

Gerald Biron was raised lo the Sublime Degree of M . M ., the ceremonies being alily and impressively performed . A letter was read by the Secretary from the VV . M . and the members of No . S 51 , ai'imaling to the lodges throughout the country , to extend

a helping hand to the sufferers of the recent epidemic of tjaihoid fever in Worthing , by which over 1200 of the inhabitants , out of a population of 7000 have been attacked , ami 150 have died . It was proposed , seconded , and supported by the VV . M . and other members of the lodge , anil carried unanimously that a sum of five guineas be contributed from the Charity funds in aid ol the sufferers , 'he W . M . also drew attention toa Masonic service to be

Wil at the Parish Church , Urmston , on Sunday afternoon , the Sth prox ., and a Committee , consisting of the VV . M ., * ' md j . Wardens , and the Past Masters of the lodge was " ¦ 'pointed to make the necessary arrangements for same . ' 'Ileaity good wishes" were expressed by the visiting "felhren , and the lodge was closed . Afterwards a pleasant hour was spent at the social board , when the usual Masonic toasts , intercepted with songs and r , * iitations , were given and acknowledged .

ISLE OF WIGHT . Albany Lodge . —A most interesting ceremony took place at the Alasonic Hall , Newport , on Wednesday , the 20 th inst ., when this ancient lodge was opened for the last time with its ritual of "Time Immemorial . " After the lodge was opened , the Prov . G . M ., Bro . VV . VV . B . Beach , M . P ., entered and took the chair and received the allegiance of the old members of the lodge to the Grand

Lodge of England . Bro . D . S . Pring , VV . M . elect , was then installed by the Prov . Grand Master , and received into his keeping the warrant of confirmation granted in August last to the Albany Lodge by H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , Grand Master of England . In banding over the document , the Prov . Grand Master congratulated the lodge and Bro . Pring on the good work that day completed , and expressed his heartiest good wishes for the prosperity of

the lodge . A number of brethren of other lodges were elected as joining members , and the VV . M . invested the following officers : Bros , the Rev . E . VV . Watts , M . A ., S . W . ; C . T .
