M . has for several years filled to the entire satisfaction of his brethren , be feelingly acknowledged the kindness he had invariably received , and expressed the gratification he felt iu giving Avay for their Grand JIaster nominate , the Earl of Shrewsbury , AVIIO , judging from Avhat he bad seen of him , would be largely instrumental in furthering Freemasonry in the Province . , , deputed by the Marquis of Ripon to perform the installation , in the absence of the D . G . M ., Bro . the Earl of Carnarvon , then directed the R . AV . Bros . G . S . Tudor , Foster Gough , several Prov . G . JIasters , and four Stewards , to form a deputation to introduce the Grand Master nominate , -nho Avas received by the brethren standing , and saluted masonically . The installation then took place , and the noble Earl Avas invested with the
insignia of office , and consequently took his seat in the chair of King Solomon , prayer being offered by the P . Prov . G . Chaplain , Bro . James Downes . The Prov . G . JI ., Avho was again saluted in JIasonic form , then thanked the brethren of the province for their cordial acceptation of himself on the nomination of the Grand JIaster of England . He could assure all present thafc he had not taken the office without considsrahle thought , and he would endeavour
Avith their assistance , and under the direction of the Great Architect ofthe Universe , to perform its onerous duties efficiently . He had already received from the JIasters of Lodges in the province very kind congratulations , and he intended to visit every lodge as tbe commencement of his duties , and to take an early opportunity of Avorking himself up a JIaster of a lodge . They would excuse him if he said Avhat they wanted throughout the province Avas uniformity of actionso that when
, the Provincial Grand JIaster visited a lodge he might find the Avorking in each to be similar . He should seek the assistance of the Deputy Grand JIaster and of others , who took an interest in Masonry : and he could not conclude without expressing bow much he was indebted to tho Deputy Grand JIaster for tho assistance he had rendered him .
