Royal Alfred Lodge of Instruction , No . 780 . —A meeting was held ou 21 st Juno , at tho Star and Garter Hotel , Kew Bridge , ai half-past 7 p . m . Present—Bros . Acwoith W . M ., Cosicluw S . W ., Gomm J . W ., Gunner ( Hon . Sec . ) J . D ., Tucker ( Treas . ) S . D ., Francke ! I . G ., and Bros . Goss W . M . 780 , Gardiner P . M . 780 , Kyezor , & o . Lodge was duly opened , tho minutes read and

confirmed . Bro . Gardiner offered himself as candidate , and the W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of initiation . Bro . Costelow then proposed and Bro . Frunckel seconded , that sorao testimonial be presented to Bro . Preceptor Roe , in acknowledgment of the trouble he has taken in instrnciing this Lodge , aud the motion was , after a few remarks Irom Bro . Goss , carried unanimously . In consequence of an

obsfrvation let fall by Bro . Secretary , in reply to which Bios . Goss , Tucker , and Kyezor spoke , it was proposed by Bro . Gardiner aud seconded by Bro . Blasby , that tho former resolution be entered on the minutes , the proposition was carried unanimously . After other propositions had been made and approved , to the effect that Bio . Secretary send a circular to the brethren announcing the formation of a

To > -timonial Fund , the Secretary stated that his object in asking if the first proposition was to be recorded was for the purpose of seeking information as to tbe proper fulfilment of his duties , which were not as yet sufficiently familiar to him . Having heard the matter discussed , he thanked the brethren for the knowledge he had

gained . The audit committee announced that they had gone through the accounts of last season , and had found a balance in hand ; their report would bo submitted at a future meeting . The W . M . for next Lodgo meeting was elected , and a vote of thanks passed to Bro . Acworth . Lodgo was closed according to ancient enstom .

Dallas worked tlio lirst , second , and third sections of the leetnre , ns-isteil by tbe brethren . Bro . Gilliam waa appointed W . M " . for the ensuing week .

Falcon Lodge , No . 1418 , Thirsk . —On Thursday , 20 Hi Time tho members of this Lodge , accompanied by the Worshipfnl Master ( Bro . Geovo Ayre ) and many lady friends , enjoyed their annual picnic and visi'pd Wbar r odalo . Tho weather was all that , could be desired , and tho neighbourhood displayed its sylvan charms to tho greatest advantage . On arriving at Tlkley Stat ' on ,

waggonettes wero in readiness to convey the party to Bolton Woods , where nn ahnndnnf luncheon was soon spread under tho shaded bank near " Tho Strid . " Here an interesting incident occurred , which contributed much to tho enjoyment of all . A largo party of tho Blackburn Choral Society , organised by Bro . N . Jones , and consisting of between fifty and sixty ladies and gent ' emeu , had made a similar

excursion , and as tho party included many Freemasons—brethren of tho Felicity , IVr- 'evernnco , Falcon , Lion , aud Anchor Lodges—they soon fraternised , meeting together unexpectedly from the east and the west , and the woods echoed with the harmonious melody of glees and patriotic sou £ rs . Thepa'ty then visited tho beautiful ruins of Bolton Priory , whence thev resumed their journey to Tlkley by the romantic

drive through Beamsley . Arrangements had been made for dinner at tho spacious and elegant . Middleton Hotel , Tlkley . After doing justice to the viands , which frilly sustained Bro . Bentloy ' s reputation , and wandering along the beautiful terraces of this recently erected , spacious , and exquisitely situated Hotel , tho party returned homo , highly delighted with their day ' s enjoyment . Great praise is dno to tho Secretary , Bro . Jainos Johnston , for his complete arrangements .

Percy Lodge , No . 1427- —The Installation and festival of this Lodge was held on Tuesday , tho 18 th , at the Masonic Hall , Map l e-street , Newcastle . on-Tyne . There was a very large attendance of brethren ; tho Lndgp was opened bv Bro . J . C . Mowbray W . M ., with the following Officers : —J . H . Bentham as I . P . M ., S . P . Orel S . W . W . M . elpcf , W . S . L ' shman J . W ., B . J . Thompson P . M . Prov .

The minutes of tho last meeting being confirmed , tho ballot was taken for Mr . T . Sayor , which proving success , fill , that gentleman was initiated into the mysteries of onr Order by the W . M . The Lodge was then opened in tho second degree , and

Bro . E . D . Davis Prov . G . D . C . assumed the chair , and Bro . Bertram P . Ord was presented to him to receive at his hands the benefit of installation ; the nsnal formalities having been gone through , tho Lodgo was worked np to tho third degree , when all below tho rank of Past Master retired , and on these being re-adinitted , wore informed by tho Installing Master that during their absence Bro . Ord had

been regularly placed into tho chair of K . S ., whereupon the new Master was accordingly proclaimed and sainted . He then invested the following brethren as his Officers for the ensuing year : —J . Tho addresses to the Mnster and brethren were most beautifully given by tho Installing Master , indeed , the whole ceremony was most impressively rendered . Hearty good wishes of several visitors having been tendered to the new Master , the Lodge was closed , and tho brethren adjourned to the Queen ' s Head Hotel , Pilgrim-street , whero they sat down to a well

served banquet , to winch they did ample justice . Grace being said , tlio customary Loyal and Masonio toasts received fine attention ; the health of thp Prov . G . M . and Officers of Prov . Grand Lodge was responded to by Brn . B . J . Thompson P . G . Sec . ; tho W . M . then gave the R . W . Prov , G . M . John Fawcett , and Officers of tho Prov . Grand Lodge of Dnrhatn . Ho conld only say , whoever knew Bro . Fawcett ,

loved and respected him ; ho coupled the name of Bro . E . D . Davis with the toast . Bro . Davis in tho course of his reply expressed tho gratification he experienced at hearing the Provincial Grand Master of Du'hnm spoken of in snch high and eulogistic terms , and he trusted his Officers would do their best to emulate his example , aud snppnrt him in all his duties . The I . P . M ., Bro . Mowbray then rose

to propose tho health of the W . M ., iu doing so , ho said there aro many duties which devolve on us which we would willingly shirk ; and , ara in , others which cease to be as it were adnty , bnt a pleasure ; that , which devolved on him now was moro than a pleasure ; the brethren wonld give him credit for speaking from his heart ; ho had known Bro . Ord for vnnrc than thirty years , and had alwavs known

him as a noble open-lipnrted fellow , who would go out of his way to do a person a service . He wished him a year of pleasure , prosperity , and every happiness . With this he would leave the toast in the hands of < he brethren , who , he was sure wonld . whether members or visitors , join most heartily with him to do it honour . Tho W . M . said Bro . Mowbray spoke of it as being a , duty and a pleasure to propose the

toast , but be had completely taken the wind out of his sails ; he felfc grateful to him for tbe way he had proposed his health ; he wonld do everything in his power to hand down to his successor tho warrant in the same unsullied state in which he had that day received it ; ho conld onlv assure the brethr ti that he thanked " them very much : ndeed . The health of the I . P . M . was- proposed by Bro . E . D . Davis P . M ., he reminded the brethren that they had drunk with all

enthusiasm the health of the present Master , hut ho was sure they wonld not forget the one who had just quitted the chair . He hoped Hro . Mowbray would long be spared to set an example to the Lodge , that every brother might faithfully copy ; he complimented him on ho way be had fulfilled the duties of his office for the past year : he assured tha brethren he had never seen the ceremony of Initial tion better given than that afternoon ; he said he was not there to

Falcon Lodge , No . 1418 , Thirsk . —On Thursday , 20 Hi Time tho members of this Lodge , accompanied by the Worshipfnl Master ( Bro . Geovo Ayre ) and many lady friends , enjoyed their annual picnic and visi'pd Wbar r odalo . Tho weather was all that , could be desired , and tho neighbourhood displayed its sylvan charms to tho greatest advantage . On arriving at Tlkley Stat ' on ,

waggonettes wero in readiness to convey the party to Bolton Woods , where nn ahnndnnf luncheon was soon spread under tho shaded bank near " Tho Strid . " Here an interesting incident occurred , which contributed much to tho enjoyment of all . A largo party of tho Blackburn Choral Society , organised by Bro . N . Jones , and consisting of between fifty and sixty ladies and gent ' emeu , had made a similar

excursion , and as tho party included many Freemasons—brethren of tho Felicity , IVr- 'evernnco , Falcon , Lion , aud Anchor Lodges—they soon fraternised , meeting together unexpectedly from the east and the west , and the woods echoed with the harmonious melody of glees and patriotic sou £ rs . Thepa'ty then visited tho beautiful ruins of Bolton Priory , whence thev resumed their journey to Tlkley by the romantic

drive through Beamsley . Arrangements had been made for dinner at tho spacious and elegant . Middleton Hotel , Tlkley . After doing justice to the viands , which frilly sustained Bro . Bentloy ' s reputation , and wandering along the beautiful terraces of this recently erected , spacious , and exquisitely situated Hotel , tho party returned homo , highly delighted with their day ' s enjoyment . Great praise is dno to tho Secretary , Bro . Jainos Johnston , for his complete arrangements .

Percy Lodge , No . 1427- —The Installation and festival of this Lodge was held on Tuesday , tho 18 th , at the Masonic Hall , Map l e-street , Newcastle . on-Tyne . There was a very large attendance of brethren ; tho Lndgp was opened bv Bro . J . C . Mowbray W . M ., with the following Officers : —J . H . Bentham as I . P . M ., S . P . Orel S . W . W . The minutes of tho last meeting being confirmed , tho ballot was taken for Mr . T . Sayor , which proving success , fill , that gentleman was initiated into the mysteries of onr Order by the W . M . The Lodge was then opened in tho second degree , and

Bro . E . D . Davis Prov . G . D . C . assumed the chair , and Bro . Bertram P . Ord was presented to him to receive at his hands the benefit of installation ; the nsnal formalities having been gone through , tho Lodgo was worked np to tho third degree , when all below tho rank of Past Master retired , and on these being re-adinitted , wore informed by tho Installing Master that during their absence Bro . Ord had

been regularly placed into tho chair of K . S ., whereupon the new Master was accordingly proclaimed and sainted . He then invested the following brethren as his Officers for the ensuing year : —J . Tho addresses to the Mnster and brethren were most beautifully given by tho Installing Master , indeed , the whole ceremony was most impressively rendered . Hearty good wishes of several visitors having been tendered to the new Master , the Lodge was closed , and tho brethren adjourned to the Queen ' s Head Hotel , Pilgrim-street , whero they sat down to a well

served banquet , to winch they did ample justice . Grace being said , tlio customary Loyal and Masonio toasts received fine attention ; the health of thp Prov . G . M . and Officers of Prov . Grand Lodge was responded to by Brn . B . J . Thompson P . G . Sec . ; tho W . M . then gave the R . W . Prov , G . M . John Fawcett , and Officers of tho Prov . Grand Lodge of Dnrhatn . Ho conld only say , whoever knew Bro . Fawcett ,

loved and respected him ; ho coupled the name of Bro . E . D . Davis with the toast . Bro . Davis in tho course of his reply expressed tho gratification he experienced at hearing the Provincial Grand Master of Du'hnm spoken of in snch high and eulogistic terms , and he trusted his Officers would do their best to emulate his example , aud snppnrt him in all his duties . The I . P . M ., Bro . Mowbray then rose

to propose tho health of the W . M ., iu doing so , ho said there aro many duties which devolve on us which we would willingly shirk ; and , ara in , others which cease to be as it were adnty , bnt a pleasure ; that , which devolved on him now was moro than a pleasure ; the brethren wonld give him credit for speaking from his heart ; ho had known Bro . Ord for vnnrc than thirty years , and had alwavs known

him as a noble open-lipnrted fellow , who would go out of his way to do a person a service . He wished him a year of pleasure , prosperity , and every happiness . With this he would leave the toast in the hands of < he brethren , who , he was sure wonld . whether members or visitors , join most heartily with him to do it honour . Tho W . M . said Bro . Mowbray spoke of it as being a , duty and a pleasure to propose the

toast , but be had completely taken the wind out of his sails ; he felfc grateful to him for tbe way he had proposed his health ; he wonld do everything in his power to hand down to his successor tho warrant in the same unsullied state in which he had that day received it ; ho conld onlv assure the brethr ti that he thanked " them very much : ndeed . The health of the I . P . M . was- proposed by Bro . E . D . Davis P . M ., he reminded the brethren that they had drunk with all

enthusiasm the health of the present Master , hut ho was sure they wonld not forget the one who had just quitted the chair . He hoped Hro . Mowbray would long be spared to set an example to the Lodge , that every brother might faithfully copy ; he complimented him on ho way be had fulfilled the duties of his office for the past year : he assured tha brethren he had never seen the ceremony of Initial tion better given than that afternoon ; he said he was not there to
