FORTITUDE AND OLD CUMBERLAND LODGE , No . 12 . THE installation meeting of this popular Lodge waa held on the 5 th instant , at the Ship and Turtle , Leadenhall-street . There waB a numerous attendance of members and Visitors , and banners with the arms of the several Masters decorated the Lodge room . The chair was occupied by the W . M ., Bros . B . E . Barratt-Kidder , Beedell S . W ., Mathews J . W ., Dudley Rolls P . M . Treasnrer , A . Snelgrove
P . M . Secretary , Pigache S . D ., Jones J . D ., Eolls I . G . ; P . M . 's Coombs , Lily , Stewart P . G . D ., Ruf , Mower , S . H . Rolls , Lemaitre . Amongst the Visitors were Bros . Dr . Dudley Rolls , and seconded by the W . M ., was carried unanimously : — " That there be no regular meeting of the Lodge in the month of April , bnt in lien thereof , the brethren have a recreative dinner during the month of July , if the
fnnds of the Lodge admit ; the fixing of the time and place of meet . ing to be the prerogative of the W . M . ; the Secretary to make the necessary alteration in the Bye-laws . " A Board of Installed Masters was opened , and Bro . Beedell S . W . and W . M . elect was presented to the Lodge in the presence of seventeen W . M . ' s and P . M . ' s , and duly installed into the chair by the retiring W . M . Bro . E . E .
Barratt-Kidder , who performed bis duty in a very perfect and impressive manner , and was deservedly applauded by the Visitors at the conclusion of the ceremony . The brethren having been readmitted , the W . M . was sainted according to ancient custom . He then in appropriate terms , appointed and invested his Officers : — Bros . Barratt-Kidder I . P . M ., Mathews S . W ., Pigache J . W ., Dudley
Rolls P . M . Treasurer , A . Snelgrove P . M . Sec , Jones S . D ., H . Rolls J . D ., O . Peall I . G ., Marsh Tyler . The new W . M . then , in the name of the Lodge , presented a very elegant P . M . ' s jewel to the I . P . M . He said he had great pleasnre in placing it on his breast , as he had done bis duties well , even to the last call made on him . He hoped Bro . Kidder might live long to wear it ; and be present to
hear the same complimentary words spoken of him as were expressed on his leaving the chair . Bro . Kidder , in suitable terms , returned thanks for the valuable gift . The brethren then sat down to a sump , tnons banquet and dessert , provided by Bros . C . and A . Painter . The W . M . proposed the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts . The toast of H . R . H . the M . W . G . M . was then given , and was enthusiasticall y
received , Bro . Cozens singing God bless the Prince of Wales . In giving the toast of the Pro G . M ., tbe D . G . M ., and the rest of tbe Grand Officers , the W . M . remarked tbey bad one member of the Lodge who was a Grand Officer , who had done good service to the Craft , and is looked np to as a supporter of its noble Institutions . They were prond to have Bro . Raynham Stewart among them . He is one
of their oldest and most respected P . M . ' s . Bro . R . W . Stewart P . G . D . said , nothing could have given him greater pleasnre than to come down among his old friends in this Lodge . He had been connected with Grand Lodge for 20 years . In reference to the Pro G . M . and the D . G . M ., no better Masons ever existed Bro . E . E . Kidder I . P . M .
said that it was a great pleasnre for him , for tbe first time , to propose the toast of tbe W . M . Bro . Beedell for some time had not beeu in very good health •the members , however , were pleased to see him occupying the chair . He ( Bro . Kidder ) thought they had the right man in the right place . Bro . Beedell had filled every office in tho Lod ge with credit , and all felt sure he would give satisfaction , and continue

as he had begnn . He called on all to drink the toast with theenthn . siasm it deserved . The Worshipfnl Master , in replying , said he felt it a great honour to have his health proposed in thii Lodge . He thanked the Immediate Past Master for his good wishes . He trnsted as W . M . to be able to do all that might be required of him . The W . M . then proposed the toast of the Visitors . The Lodge waa
always pleased to see them ; as tbey were so numerous he would call on Bros . Chapman W . M . 91 , Beedell 1607 and Martin 1768 to respond . Bro . Chapman , in an eloquent speech , said he had to per . form the installation ceremony on Thursday night , and hoped he might be able to do the same as well as it had been done by Bro . Kidder . Bros . Norman and Beedell followed . Bro . H . Norman P . G . S . said the
W . M . was a very old friend of his , and he felt he could congratulate the Lodge on his accepting the chair ; he hoped next year to see him instal his successor . The W . M . next proposed the health of the Installing Master . Bro . Kidder bad reaohed a step higher than heand he heartily congratulated him j he had striven to do his duty , and the members fully recognised his qualifications . Bro . Kidder
had in every respect done what any Lodge might be prond of—it was dne to bim to say that amidst all the cares of business he had done what every I . P . M . shonld do , viz ., instal his successor . More , over , he had done it well . Bro . Kidder , in reply , thanked the W . M . for his kind words . He appreciated them the more as they had ever worked heartily together . Ho also thanked the P . M . ' s for their
assistance . He might say he was one of those who thought it waa the dnty of every W . M . to instal his successor , and he had striven to do it to the best of his ability . He had now again to thank the W . M . for placing on his breast the Past Master ' s jewel , which would be worn with pride and honour . In speaking to the toast of the P . M . ' s , the W . M . said no Lodge conld exist without P . M . 's 5 those
present would be a credit to any Lodge ; he would couple the name of their Treasurer , and esteemed friend , the father of the Lodge , Bro . Ruf , who was W . M . of the Lodge in 1856 . Bro . Ruf , in reply , felt justified in saying the P . M . ' s had all done their work well ; this bad been conducive to tbe success of the Lodge . He was initiated in 1850 , and still hoped to be with tbem many years . Bro .
Dudley Rolls , in replying as Treasurer , said all he could do for the benefit of the Lodge was at the command of its members . Bro . A . Snelgrove P . M . and Secretary followed , and fully endorsed all the previous speakers had said . He , as well as each Officer appointed , had bnt the welfare of the Lodge at heart . The toast of the other

C . Lorkin worked the first , second and third sections of the lecture , assisted by the brethren . Bros . W . M . Foxcroft , of the Domatic Lodge , No . 177 , and W . Francke , of the Kingsland Lodge , No . 1693 , were eleoted members . Bro . Galer was appointed W . M . for next week . A vote of thanks was awarded the W . M ., this being his first attempt at conducting the business . Bros . Powell , Weeden , Galor , Dixie , Parkes and Ferrar were appointed auditors , after which Lodge was closed and adjourned .
