THE installation meeting was held on Thursday , at the Cock Tavern , Higbbnry Corner , when tbe outgoing Master , Bro . Daniel Pound Holness , placed his successor , Bro . Edward Blinkhorn , into the chair of the Lodge . The Lodge was opened at half , past four , when , in addition to a large gathering of the

After the minutes of last regular meeting had been read and confirmed , the Seoretary read the Bye-laws , and then the Auditors' report and balance-sheet was presented . The acoounta Bhowed the Lodge to be in a sound financial position , and the report was unanimously adopted . The
W . M . elect was then presented , and in due course regularly installed into the chair , Bro . Holness conducting the ceremony in a manner that gave great satisfaction to all present . The following were the Officers invested : —H . Cox P . M . S . W ., J . Lake J . W ., Bowyer P . M , Treasurer , A . C . Halestrap Secretary , Shearman S . D ., Hunt J . D . Thompson I . G ., H . Hunt W . S ., Petch M . C . The banquet took place
in the billiard room , which Bro . Baker kindly turned to account for the occasion , and it is needless to say that the menu was an excellent one , and admirably served . On the removal of the cloth , the usual Loyal and Masonio toasts were given from the chair , and experienced the usual cordial reception . Bro , Holness I . P . M ., in proposing the health of the Worshipful Master , Bro . Blinkhorn , spoke in terms of
eulogy of their new chief . He had already distinguished himself in the several offices he had previously filled , and there was no doubt in his ( Bro . Holness's ) mind , that during the year then begun the Lodge would go on prospering . Bro . Blinkhorn responded very happily , and thanked both his predecessor , to whom he had already had the privilege of handing the jewel voted by the Lodge , and who had proposed the toast in suoh complimentary terms , as well as the
brethren for the hearty manner in which they had received it . He should use his best endeavours to promote the welfare of the Lodge , and he earnestly trusted those endeavours would prove successful . The toast of the Visitors was acknowledged by Bros . Seaman , Hogard , and Dehane , who severally congratulated the Lodge and its Officers on the excellence of their working , and expressed their thanks for the kindly reception which had been accorded tbem . Bro . Mather returned thanks on behalf of tbe Past
Masters , and , in doing so , expressed some astonishment that he should have been singled out for the purpose . However , he spoke warmly of the interest both he and his brother P . M . 's took in the Islington Lodge , and was firmly persuaded it would go on increasing in strength and prosperity . Bro . Thompson ' s name was associated
witb the toast of the " Masonic Charities , " and , having pressed their claims on the brethren with considerable eloquence and taste , he was fortunately in a position to announce that his list for the Boys' Festival in Jnne next already reached the sum of £ 5119 s . The Tyler ' s toast concluded the programme , and the meeting terminated in the most complete harmony .
